ਯੋਆਬ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦਾਊਦ ਕੋਲ ਇੱਕ ਸਿਆਣੀ ਔਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਣਾ ਸਰੂਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੋਆਬ ਨੂੰ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਕਿ ਦਾਊਦ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ

ਅਬਨੇਰ ਦਾ ਅਸਾਹੇਲ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਣਾ ਉੱਥੇ ਸਰੂਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੋਆਬ, ਅਬੀਸ਼ਈ ਅਤੇ ਅਸਾਹੇਲ ਵੀ ਸਨ। ਅਸਾਹੇਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਧੀਆ ਜੰਗਲੀ ਹਿਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਤੇਜ਼ ਦੌੜਾਕ ਸੀ।

ਤਦ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਜਾਣ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਤਾਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਬੜਾ ਬੇਚੈਨ ਹੋਇਆ, ਉਹ ਕੰਬ ਉੱਠਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਚੁਬਾਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੋ ਡਿਉੜੀ ਦੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਸੀ ਉਸ ਉੱਪਰ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਰਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਇਹ ਆਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, “ਹਾਏ, ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ! ਓ ਮੇਰੇ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ! ਕਾਸ਼ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਮੈਂ ਹੀ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ! ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ! ਹਾਏ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ!”

ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੀ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਦੀ ਜਿੱਤ ਹੋਈ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਖਬਰ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਦਿਹਾੜਾ ਬਣੀ। ਇਹ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਸ਼ੋਕ ਦਾ ਦਿਹਾੜਾ ਸੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਕਿ, “ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਲਈ ਬੜਾ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਹੈ।”

ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਢੱਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਉੱਚੀ-ਉੱਚੀ ਕੁਰਲਾਅ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, “ਹਾਏ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ, ਹਾਏ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ, ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਹਾਏ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ।”

ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੈਣਾਂ ਸਰੂਯਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਅਬੀਗੈਲ ਸਨ। ਸਰੂਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਅਬਸ਼ਈ, ਯੋਆਬ ਅਤੇ ਅਸਾਹੇਲ ਤਿੰਨ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਨ।

ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਸ਼ਾਸਕ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਆਂ ਲੋਚਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਆਦਮੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਨਿਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
