ਅਲੀਸ਼ਾ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਇਸੇ ਰੁੱਤ ਬਸੰਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਗੋਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਕਲੋਲ ਕਰੇਗੀ।” ਉਹ ਬੋਲੀ, “ਨਹੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ, ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਟਹਿਲਣ ਨਾਲ ਝੂਠ ਨਾ ਬੋਲ।”

ਅਲੀਸ਼ਾ ਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਧੀਆ ਬਨਾਉਣਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਲੀਸ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵੇਖ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਬੜਾ ਵੱਧੀਆ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇੱਥੋਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਬੜਾ ਖਰਾਬ ਹੈ। ਇਸੇ ਲਈ ਇਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ।”

ਤਦ ਓਬਦਿਆਹ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਅਹਾਬ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਦੱਸ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਹੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵੱਢ ਸੁੱਟੇਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਗਾੜਿਆ ਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਮਰਵਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ?

ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਔਰਤ ਨੇ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੈਂ, ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ? ਜਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਇੱਥੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਚੇਤਾ ਹੀ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ? ਜਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਇੱਥੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਣ ਬਣਨ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ?”
ਪੈਦਾਇਸ਼ 18:12
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸਾਰਾਹ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਸੀ ਉਸਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਹ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੱਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਬੁੱਢੀ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਤੀ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਇੰਨੀ ਬੁੱਢੀ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਬੱਚਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਣ ਸੱਕਦੀ।”
ਪੈਦਾਇਸ਼ 17:21
ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਇਕਰਾਰਨਾਮਾ ਇਸਹਾਕ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ। ਇਸਹਾਕ ਉਹ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰਾਹ ਜਨਮ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ। ਇਸ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਅਗਲੇ ਸਾਲ ਇਸੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।”
ਪੈਦਾਇਸ਼ 17:16
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਸ ਦੇਵਾਂਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦੇਵਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਸਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ। ਉਹ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਨਵੀਆਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ। ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਣਗੇ।”
