ਜਦੋਂ ਯੋਸੀਯਾਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਦੇ ਅੱਠਵੇਂ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ’ਚ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਸ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਚੋ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ 12ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਚਿਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਟੁੰਡੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਘੜਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਢਾਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਬੁੱਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਫ਼ਾਇਆ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਆਮੋਨ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਨੱਸ਼ਹ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਬੁੱਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਲੀਆਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈਆਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਨੱਸ਼ਹ ਨੇ ਬਣਵਾਏ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ।

ਅਜ਼ਰਯਾਹ ਆਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਕਹਿਣ ਲੱਗਾ, “ਹੇ ਆਸਾ! ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨ ਦੇ ਲੋਕੋ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੁਣੋ! ਜਦ ਤੀਕ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੋ ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ। ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਾਹਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ ਪਰ ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਜਾਵੋਂਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।

ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਲਈ ਸੁਗਾਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਜੋ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ਦਾਊਦ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਕੱਠ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ। ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਅਜੇ ਮਸੂਮ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ-ਤਜ਼ਰਬੇਕਾਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਕੰਮ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਣ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕਾਸੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਕੋਈ ਆਮ ਆਦਮੀ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਇਹ ਘਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਲਈ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ।

“ਅਤੇ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਤੂੰ, ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ। ਤਹਿ ਦਿਲੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਛਿੱਤ ਮਨ ਨਾਲ ਉਸਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰ, ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਰੀਖਿਆ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਮਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਾਣੀ ਜਾਣ ਹੈ। ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਮਦਦ ਮੰਗੋਂਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਵਾਬ ਪਾਵੋਗੇ ਪਰ ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸਤੋਂ ਬੇਮੁਖ ਹੋਵੋਂਗੇ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਤਿਲਾਂਜਲੀ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।

ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਸਾਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਮਹਾਨ ਮੰਦਰ ਬਨਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਜੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਛੋਟਾ ਅਤੇ ਤਜ਼ਰਬਾਹੀਣ ਹੈ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਮੰਦਰ ਇਸਦੀ ਮਹਾਨਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਲਈ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸੇ ਕਾਰਣ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਦੀ ਮੈਂ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਬਣਾਈ ਹੈ।” ਇਸ ਲਈ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੜੀਆਂ ਯੋਜਨਾਵਾਂ ਬਣਾਈਆਂ।

ਯੋਸੀਯਾਹ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਯਾਦਗਾਰੀ ਥੰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਟੁਕੜੇ-ਟੁਕੜੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਸ਼ੇਰਾ ਦੇ ਥੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਢਾਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੁਰਦਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੱਡੀਆਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਚਿਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਖਿਲਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ।

ਤਦ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਹਿਲਕੀਯਾਹ ਜਾਜਕ ਨੂੰ, ਦੂਜੇ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਦਰਬਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਜੋ ਬਆਲ ਅਤੇ ਅਸ਼ੇਰਾਹ ਦੇਵੀ, ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲਸ਼ਕਰ ਲਈ ਬਣਾਏ ਗਏ ਸਨ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆਉਣ। ਤਦ ਯੋਸੀਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕਿਦਰੋਨ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਆਹ ਨੂੰ ਬੈਤਏਲ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ।

ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉੱਚੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਢਾਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਯਾਦਗਾਰੀ ਪੱਥਰ ਅਤੇ ਅਸ਼ੀਰਾ ਦੇ ਥੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਟੁਕੜੇ-ਟੁਕੜੇ ਕਰਵਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪਿੱਤਲ ਦੇ ਸੱਪ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਬਣਵਾਇਆ ਸੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚਕਨਾ ਚੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਧੂਫ਼ ਧੁਖਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ ਸੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਨਾਂ “ਨਹੁਸ਼ਤਾਨ” ਰੱਖਿਆ।

ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਾਲ, ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੋਲਿਆ, “ਹੇ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ! ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਉਂ ਫ਼ਰਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ‘ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਯੋਸੀਯਾਹ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਮੁੰਡਾ ਜਨਮੇਗਾ ਹੁਣ ਜਾਜਕ ਉੱਚੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਹੇ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ, ਯੋਸੀਯਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਪਾਕੇ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੱਡੀਆਂ ਵੀ ਸਾੜੇਗਾ। ਫ਼ਿਰ ਤੇਰੀ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸੱਕੇਗੀ।’”
ਅਹਬਾਰ 26:30
ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀਆਂ ਉੱਚੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੀਆਂ ਧੂਪ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਗਵੇਦੀਆਂ ਚੀਰ ਸੁੱਟਾਂਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀਆਂ ਲਾਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਬੁੱਤਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਾਸ਼ਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਸੁੱਟ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਘਿਰਣਾਯੋਗ ਹੋਵੋਂਗੇ।
