ਰਹਬੁਆਮ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਰਾਇ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ? ਸਾਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ? ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਬੋਝ ਹਲਕਾ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਖ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਕੰਮ ਦਾ ਭਾਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ, ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਭਾਰ ਸਾਡੇ ਤੋਂ ਹਲਕਾ ਕਰ।”
