ਤਦ ਰਹਬੁਆਮ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਸਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਰਾਇ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ? ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਕੀ ਰਾਇ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਾਂ?”

ਤੁਸੀਂ ਲੋਕ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਗ਼ਲਤੀ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਣ ਬਣੇਗੀ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਸੀ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ, ‘ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅੱਗੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰੋ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਉਹ ਗੱਲ ਦੱਸੋ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨਾਂਗੇ।’

ਯਰਮਿਆਹ 42:2
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਜੋ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣੋ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅੱਗੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਚੇ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰੋ। ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ, ਇਹ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦੇਖਦੇ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਚੇ ਹੋਏ। ਇੱਕ ਵੇਲੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਂ।

ਅਮਸਾਲ 27:10
ਆਪਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਮਿੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਨਾ ਵਿਸਾਰੋ। ਅਤੇ ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋ ਤਾਂ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੂਰ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਭਰਾ ਪਾਸ ਨਾ ਜਾਓ। ਹੱਥ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਦੂਰ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ, ਦੂਰ ਦੁਰਾਡੇ ਦੇ ਭਰਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ, ਬਿਹਤਰ ਹੈ।

ਅਮਸਾਲ 19:20
ਮਸ਼ਵਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣੋ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨ ਕਰੋ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਅਖੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਵੋਂਗੇ।
