ਏਲੀਸ਼ਾ ਨੇ ਉਸੇ ਵਕਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਡੰਗਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਭੱਜ ਪਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਏਲੀਸ਼ਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਵਾਨਗੀ ਦੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਂ-ਬਾਪ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੰਮ ਆਵਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ।” ਤਾਂ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਠੀਕ ਹੈ! ਤੂੰ ਜਾ! ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੋਕਦਾ।”

ਪਤਰਸ ਨੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਲੱਗਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਫ਼ਿਰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ?”
