ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬੁਰੀ ਔਰਤ ਨਾ ਸਮਝ। ਮੈਂ ਇੰਨੀ ਲੰਬੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਸਾਂ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਬੜੀ ਉਦਾਸ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਬੜੀ ਲੰਬੀ ਹੈ।”

ਪਰ ਕੁਝ ਫ਼ਸਾਦੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਇਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਬਚਾ ਸੱਕਦਾ?” ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੋਹਫ਼ੇ ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਪਰ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਕਿਹਾ। ਨਾਹਾਸ਼, ਅੰਮੋਨੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਅੰਮੋਨ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਨਾਹਾਸ਼, ਗਾਦ ਅਤੇ ਰਊਬੇਨ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਮੁਸੀਬਤਾਂ ਖੜੀਆਂ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਨਾਹਾਸ਼ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਆਦਮੀ ਦੀ ਸੱਜੀ ਅੱਖ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਯਰਦਨ ਦਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਪੂਰਬ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਆਦਮੀ ਦੀ ਸੱਜੀ ਅੱਖ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਪਰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ 7,000 ਆਦਮੀ ਅੰਮੋਨੀਆਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਬਚ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਬੇਸ਼ ਗਿਲਆਦ ਨੂੰ ਆ ਗਏ।

ਆਦਮੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਭੇਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੀ। ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ, ਉਸੇ ਬੁਰੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਵੱਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾ ਦੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਜੇਕਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੀ ‘ਮੂਰੱਖ’ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਵਾਸਤਵ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਮੂਰਖ ਹੀ ਹੈ।

“ਜੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਤੋਂਲਿਆ ਜਾ ਸੱਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੁਸੀਬਤਾਂ ਧਰਮ ਕੰਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਾਈਆਂ ਜਾ ਸੱਕਣ।

“ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਨਫਰਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਖੁਲ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਕਰਾਗਾਂ। ਮੇਰੀ ਰੂਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਕੁੜਤ੍ਤਨ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਹੁਣ ਬੋਲ਼ਾਂਗਾ।

ਹੇ ਸੱਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੱਚਿਓ! ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਬੁਰੇ ਹੋਕੇ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦੇ ਹੋਂ? ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਦਿਲ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਵੀ ਉਹੀ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
