ਜਿਹੜੇ ਬਚਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਬੁਲਵਾਏ ਸਨ ਉਹ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਸੱਚੇ ਅਤੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਹੋਣਗੇ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਜੋ ਬੈਤਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਬੁਲਵਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਮੂੰਹੋ ਸਾਮਰਿਯਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਉੱਚੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਜੋ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਬੁਲਵਾਇਆ।”

ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਮਰਿਯਾ ਦੇ ਪਹਾੜ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਮਰ ਕੋਲੋਂ 68 ਕਿਲੋ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੇਕੇ ਖਰੀਦ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਪਹਾੜ ਉੱਪਰ ਇੱਕ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਸਾਮਰਿਯਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ “ਸ਼ਮਰ” ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ।

ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਾਲ, ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੋਲਿਆ, “ਹੇ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ! ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਉਂ ਫ਼ਰਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ‘ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਯੋਸੀਯਾਹ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਮੁੰਡਾ ਜਨਮੇਗਾ ਹੁਣ ਜਾਜਕ ਉੱਚੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਹੇ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ, ਯੋਸੀਯਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਪਾਕੇ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੱਡੀਆਂ ਵੀ ਸਾੜੇਗਾ। ਫ਼ਿਰ ਤੇਰੀ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸੱਕੇਗੀ।’”

ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀਆਂ ਉੱਚੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੀਆਂ ਧੂਪ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਗਵੇਦੀਆਂ ਚੀਰ ਸੁੱਟਾਂਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀਆਂ ਲਾਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਬੁੱਤਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਾਸ਼ਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਸੁੱਟ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਘਿਰਣਾਯੋਗ ਹੋਵੋਂਗੇ।

ਯਾਰਾਬੁਆਮ ਨੇ ਹੋਰ ਉੱਚੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਵੀ ਮੰਦਰ ਬਣਵਾਏ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਅਲਗ-ਅਲਗ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਜਾਜਕ ਚੁਣੇ। (ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਜੋ ਵੀ ਲੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਨ ਜਾਜਕ ਬਣਾਏ ਗਏ।

ਯੋਸੀਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਚਾਰੋ ਪਾਸੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਤੇ ਪਰਬਤਾਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਬਰਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਮਾਰੀ। ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਬਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹੱਡੀਆਂ ਕੱਢੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਯੋਸੀਯਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਉੱਪਰ ਸਾੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਯੋਸੀਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਭ੍ਰਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਉਸ ਵਕਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ, ਜਦੋਂ ਯਰਾਬੁਆਮ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਸੀ। ਤਦ ਯੋਸੀਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਚਾਰੋ ਪਾਸੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਨਬੀ) ਦੀ ਕਬਰ ਵੇਖੀ।

ਯਾਰਾਬੁਆਮ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਸੋਨੇ ਦਾ ਵੱਛਾ ਬੈਤਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਦਾਨ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕਾਅ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਪਰ ਉਸ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਦੇ ਜੁਆਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਵਾਪਸ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਉਸੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਨੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਕੁਝ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਬੈਤ-ਹੋਰੋਨ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਮਰਿਯਾ ਤੀਕ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਬੋਲਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ 3,000 ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਸਮਾਨ ਲੁੱਟ ਲਿਆ। ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਭੜਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਅਮਸਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੜਾਈ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਵਾਪਸ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ।

ਅਤੇ ਬਾਕੀ ਦੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਹਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਫ਼ ਆਸਨਪਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਮਰਿਯਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਪਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਦਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਫ਼ਰਾਤ ਦਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਪੱਛਮ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਤੇ ਹੈ ਲਿਜਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
