ਪਿਲਾਤੁਸ ਇਹ ਸੁਣਕੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਯਿਸੂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਮਰ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਸੂਬੇਦਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਕਿ ਕੀ ਵਾਕਈ ਉਹ ਮਰ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਸੀ।
