ਇੱਕ ਲੇਵੀ ਆਦਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਰਾਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਉੱਥੇ ਇੱਕ ਲੇਵੀ ਅਦਮੀ ਸੀ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਦੂਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਦੇ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਨੌਕਰਾਣੀ ਸੀ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਪਤਨੀ ਵਰਗੀ ਹੀ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਦਾਸੀ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਬੈਤਲਹਮ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੀ ਸੀ।
