1 But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the devoted thing; for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the devoted thing: and the anger of Yahweh was kindled against the children of Israel.ਆਕਾਨ ਦਾ ਪਾਪ ਪਰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਿਆ। ਉੱਥੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਆਦਮੀ ਸੀ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੀ ਆਕਾਨ ਵਲਦ ਕਰਮੀ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜ਼ਬਦੀ ਦਾ ਪੋਤਾ ਸੀ। ਆਕਾਨ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਉਹ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਰੱਖ ਲਈਆਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਕਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।

2 Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth Aven, on the east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, Go up and spy out the land. The men went up and spied out Ai.ਜਦੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਰੀਹੋ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਈ ਵਿਖੇ ਭੇਜਿਆ। ਅਈ ਬੈਤਏਲ ਦੇ ਪੂਰਬ ਵੱਲ ਬੈਤ-ਆਵਾਨ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਸੀ। ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਅਈ ਵਲ ਜਾਉ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਲਾਉ।” ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਉਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੀ ਜਸੂਸੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਗਏ।

3 They returned to Joshua, and said to him, Don't let all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and strike Ai; don't make all the people to toil there; for they are but few.ਬਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਵੱਲ ਵਾਪਸ ਆ ਗਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਅਈ ਇੱਕ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਇਲਾਕਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਵੇਗੀ। ਦੋ ਜਾਂ ਤਿੰਨ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਬੰਦੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਲੜਨ ਲਈ ਭੇਜ ਦਿਉ। ਸਾਰੀ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਨੂੰ ਵਰਤਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ। ਉੱਥੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਲੜਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੁਝ ਹੀ ਆਦਮੀ ਹਨ।”

4 So there went up there of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Ai.ਇਸ ਲਈ ਤਕਰੀਬਨ 3,000 ਆਦਮੀ ਅਈ ਨੂੰ ਗਏ। ਪਰ ਅਈ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਤਕਰੀਬਨ 36 ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਭੱਜ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਅਈ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਾਟਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਖਦਾਨਾ ਤੀਕ ਭਜਾਇਆ। ਅਈ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਢਲਾਣ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਜਦੋਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਦੇਖਿਆ, ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਭੈਭੀਤ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੌਂਸਲਾ ਗੁਆ ਬੈਠੇ।

5 The men of Ai struck of them about thirty-six men; and they chased them [from] before the gate even to Shebarim, and struck them at the descent; and the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.

6 Joshua tore his clothes, and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of Yahweh until the evening, he and the elders of Israel; and they put dust on their heads.ਜਦੋਂ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੁਣਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਗਮ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਾੜ ਲਏ। ਉਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਅੱਗੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਝੁਕ ਗਿਆ। ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਤੀਕ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਰਿਹਾ। ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਘੱਟਾ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ। ਆਪਣਾ ਗਮ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ।

7 Joshua said, Alas, Lord Yahweh, why have you at all brought this people over the Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to cause us to perish? would that we had been content and lived beyond the Jordan!ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਰਦਨ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਰ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇੰਨੀ ਦੂਰ ਤੀਕ ਕਿਉਂ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਅਮੋਰੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਣ? ਸਾਨੂੰ ਯਰਦਨ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਸੰਤੁਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਸੀ।

8 Oh, Lord, what shall I say, after that Israel has turned their backs before their enemies!ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਦੀ ਕਸਮ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ! ਇੱਥੇ ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਆਖਣ ਲਈ ਹੋਰ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਅੱਗੇ ਆਤਮ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

9 For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of it, and will compass us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what will you do for your great name?ਕਨਾਨੀ ਲੋਕ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਇਸ ਘਟਨਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੁਣਨਗੇ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਣਗੇ! ਫ਼ੇਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮਹਾਨ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕੀ ਕਰੋਂਗੇ?”

10 Yahweh said to Joshua, Get you up; why are you thus fallen on your face?ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਧਰਤੀ ਵੱਲ ਸੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਉਦਾਸ ਕਿਉਂ ਹੈ? ਉੱਠ ਖਲੋ!

11 Israel has sinned; yes, they have even transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: yes, they have even taken of the devoted thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also; and they have even put it among their own stuff.ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਗੁਨਾਹ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਉਹ ਇਕਰਾਰਨਾਮਾ ਤੋੜਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਣ ਦਾ ਮੈਂ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਉਹ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਰੱਖ ਲਈਆਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਚੋਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਝੂਠ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਰੱਖ ਲਈਆਂ ਹਨ।

12 Therefore the children of Israel can't stand before their enemies; they turn their backs before their enemies, because they are become accursed: I will not be with you any more, except you destroy the devoted thing from among you.ਇਹੀ ਕਾਰਣ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਿੱਠ ਦਿਖਾਕੇ ਭੱਜ ਗਈ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਾਪ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ। ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰ ਵੱਧੇਰੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸੰਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵਾਂਗਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੀਕ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਤਬਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

13 Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow: for thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, There is a devoted thing in the midst of you, Israel; you can not stand before your enemies, until you take away the devoted thing from among you.“ਹੁਣ ਜਾਉ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਬਣਾਉ। ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖੋ, ‘ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਬਣਾਉ। ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਦੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਕਰੋ। ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਰੱਖ ਲਈਆਂ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣਾ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੱਕੋਂਗੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੀਕ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁੱਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦੇ।

14 In the morning therefore you shall be brought near by your tribes: and it shall be, that the tribe which Yahweh takes shall come near by families; and the family which Yahweh shall take shall come near by households; and the household which Yahweh shall take shall come near man by man.“‘ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਖਲੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਢੇਗਾ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੱਢੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਨੂੰ ਵੰਸ਼ ਦਰ ਵੰਸ਼ ਅੱਗੇ ਆਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ। ਜਿਸ ਵੰਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਕੱਢੇਗਾ, ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦਰ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਅੱਗੇ ਆਵੇਗਾ। ਜਿਸ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਕੱਢੇਗਾ ਆਦਮੀ ਦਰ ਆਦਮੀ ਅੱਗੇ ਆਵੇਗਾ।

15 It shall be, that he who is taken with the devoted thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he has; because he has transgressed the covenant of Yahweh, and because he has done folly in Israel.ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਦਮੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਖੇਗਾ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਸੀ, ਫ਼ੜਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜਕੇ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਹਰ ਸ਼ੈਅ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਇਕਰਾਰਨਾਮੇ ਨੂੰ ਤੋੜਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਰਮਿਆਨ ਬਹੁਤ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਪਾਪ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ!’”

16 So Joshua rose up early in the morning, and brought Israel near by their tribes; and the tribe of Judah was taken:ਅਗਲੀ ਸਵੇਰ ਸੁਵਖਤੇ ਹੀ, ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਖਲੋ ਗਏ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਕੀਤੀ।

17 and he brought near the family of Judah; and he took the family of the Zerahites: and he brought near the family of the Zerahites man by man; and Zabdi was taken:ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵੰਸ਼ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਖਲੋ ਗਏ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਰਾਹ ਵੰਸ਼ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਕੀਤੀ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਜ਼ਰਾਹ ਵੰਸ਼ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਖਲੋ ਗਏ। ਜ਼ਬਦੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ।

18 and he brought near his household man by man; and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਕਰਮੀ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਆਕਾਨ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਕੀਤੀ। ਕਰਮੀ ਜ਼ਬਦੀ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਬਦੀ ਜ਼ਰਾਹ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ।

19 Joshua said to Achan, My son, please give glory to Yahweh, the God of Israel, and make confession to him; and tell me now what you have done; don't hide it from me.ਫ਼ੇਰ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਆਕਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਆਪਣੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰ ਲੈ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਆਦਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਾਪਾ ਦਾ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਕੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਗੱਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਛੁਪਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਨਾ ਕਰ!”

20 Achan answered Joshua, and said, Of a truth I have sinned against Yahweh, the God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done:ਆਕਾਨ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਇਹ ਠੀਕ ਹੈ! ਮੈਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਪਾਪ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ:

21 when I saw among the spoil a goodly Babylonian mantle, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.ਅਸੀਂ ਯਰੀਹੋ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਬਜ਼ਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਵੀ ਮੈਂ ਬੇਬੀਲੋਨ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਖੂਬਸੂਰਤ ਕੋਟ ਤਕਰੀਬਨ 15 ਪੌਂਡ ਚਾਂਦੀ, ਅਤੇ ਸੋਨੇ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਪੌਂਡ ਦੇਖਿਆ। ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਚੁੱਕ ਲਈਆਂ। ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਦੱਬੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਮਿਲਣਗੀਆਂ। ਚਾਂਦੀ ਕੋਟ ਦੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਹੈ।”

22 So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent; and, behold, it was hid in his tent, and the silver under it.ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੰਬੂ ਵੱਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ। ਉਹ ਤੰਬੂ ਵੱਲ ਦੌੜ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਛੁਪੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ। ਚਾਂਦੀ ਕੋਟ ਦੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਸੀ।

23 They took them from the midst of the tent, and brought them to Joshua, and to all the children of Israel; and they laid them down before Yahweh.ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਲਿਆਂਦੀਆਂ। ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਲੈ ਗਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਸੁੱਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

24 Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the mantle, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his donkeys, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them up to the valley of Achor.ਫ਼ੇਰ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਆਕਾਨ ਵਲਦ ਜ਼ਰਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਕੋਰ ਦੀ ਵਾਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਗਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਚਾਂਦੀ, ਕੋਟ, ਸੋਨਾ, ਆਕਾਨ ਦੇ ਧੀਆਂ, ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਸ਼ੂਆਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗਧਿਆਂ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਡਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਹਰ ਸ਼ੈਅ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ। ਉਹ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਆਕਾਨ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਆਕੋਰ ਦੀ ਵਾਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਗਏ।

25 Joshua said, Why have you troubled us? Yahweh shall trouble you this day. All Israel stoned him with stones; and they burned them with fire, and stoned them with stones.ਫ਼ੇਰ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ! ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਏਗਾ!” ਫ਼ੇਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਦੋਂ ਤੀਕ ਆਕਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਪੱਥਰ ਸੁੱਟੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੀਕ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਏ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਹਰ ਸ਼ੈਅ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

26 They raised over him a great heap of stones, to this day; and Yahweh turned from the fierceness of his anger. Therefore the name of that place was called "The valley of Achor" to this day.ਜਦੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਕਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਪੱਥਰ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਉਹ ਪੱਥਰ ਅੱਜ ਤੱਕ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਆਕਾਨ ਲਈ ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਲਿਆਂਦੀ। ਇਹੀ ਕਾਰਣ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਕੋਰ ਦੀ ਵਾਦੀ ਆਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।
