ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਲੋਹੇ ਦੇ ਪੱਥਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਛੁਰੀਆਂ ਬਣਾਉ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਕਰੋ।”

Romans 4:11
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨੀ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਕਰਾਈ ਕਿ ਪਰੇਮਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਬੂਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਸਦੀ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਇੱਕ ਸਬੂਤ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਧਰਮੀ ਸੀ। ਤਾਂ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਈ, ਪਰ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਮੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਜੋਂ ਕਬੂਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
Colossians 2:11
ਮਸੀਹ ਦੇ ਨਮਿੱਤ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ। ਉਹ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਮਸੀਹ ਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਾਪੀ ਆਪੇ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹੋ।
