ਕਾਲੇਬ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਕਿਰਯਥ ਸੇਫ਼ਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਧੀ ਅਕਸਾਹ ਦਾ ਡੋਲਾ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਸ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾਵੇਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਬੰਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਧੀ ਦਾ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ।”

ਇਸਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਿ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਲੜਾਈ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਦੇ, ਕਾਲੇਬ ਨੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ। ਕਾਲੇਬ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਕਿਰਯਥ ਸੇਫ਼ਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਧੀ ਅਕਸਾਹ ਦਾ ਸਾਕ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਸ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਬਜ਼ਾ ਕਰ ਲਵੇਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਧੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਆਹ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ।”
