Genesis 33:20
ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਉਸਾਰੀ। ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ “ਏਲ, ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ,” ਧਰਿਆ।

ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਬਰਾਮ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਤੰਬੂ ਪੁੱਟ ਲਿਆ। ਉਹ ਮਮਰੇ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਰੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇੜੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਿਆ। ਇਹ ਥਾਂ ਹਬਰੋਨ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਵੀ ਅਬਰਾਮ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਉਸਾਰੀ।
Genesis 21:33
ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੇ ਬਏਰਸਬਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਇੱਕ ਖਾਸ ਰੁੱਖ ਲਾਇਆ। ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ, ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਅੱਗੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਉਸ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅੱਗੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਦਾ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Genesis 32:28
ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੇਗਾ। ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਂ ਹੁਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਲੜਿਆ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਪਰ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹਰਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸੱਕਿਆ।”

ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਇੱਕ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਉਸਾਰੀ। ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ “ਏਲ ਬੈਤਏਲ” ਰੱਖਿਆ। ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹੀ ਉਹ ਥਾਂ ਸੀ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਭੱਜ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ।
