Exodus 3:8
ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਸਰੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਵਾਂਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ ਜੋ ਚੰਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦੁੱਧ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਦ ਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੈ। ਭਿੰਨ-ਭਿੰਨ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਉੱਥੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਹਨ; ਕਨਾਨੀ, ਹਿੱਤੀ, ਅਮੋਰੀ, ਫ਼ਰਿੱਜ਼ੀ, ਹਿੱਵੀ ਅਤੇ ਯਬੂਸੀ।

அந்த நாளிலே யோசுவா மக்கெதாவைப் பிடித்து, அதைப் பட்டயத்தினால் அழித்து, அதின் ராஜாவையும் அதிலுள்ள மனிதர்களையும் எல்லா உயிரினங்களையும், ஒருவரையும் மீதியாக வைக்காமல், அழித்து, எரிகோவின் ராஜாவுக்குச் செய்ததுபோல, மக்கெதாவின் ராஜாவுக்கும் செய்தான்.

அன்று யோசுவா மக்கெதா என்னும் நகரத்தை வென்றான். அந்நகரின் அரசனையும் ஜனங்களையும் கொன்றான். யாரும் உயிரோடு விடப்படவில்லை. எரிகோவின் அரசனுக்குச் செய்தபடியே மக்கெதாவின் அரசனுக்கும் செய்தான்.

யோசுவா அன்று மக்கேதாவைப் கைப்பற்றினார். அதையும் அதன் மன்னனையும் வாள்முனையில் கொன்றார். அவர்களைக் கொன்று அழித்தார். அதனுள் இருந்த ஒருவரையும் தப்பவிடவில்லை. எரிகோ மன்னனுக்குச் செய்ததுபோல், மக்கேதா மன்னனுக்கும் செய்தார்.⒫
