Exodus 20:5
ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੁੱਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਜਾਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ। ਕਿਉਂ? ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਦੇਖਕੇ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਜਿਹੜੇ ਲੋਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ। ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਾਂ ਪੋਤਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਪੜਪੋਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ।
