Matthew 5

1 ਪਹਾੜੀ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਭੀੜ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਪਹਾੜ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਬੈਠਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਆਸ-ਪਾਸ ਆਏ।

2 ਤਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇਣ ਲੱਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ,

3 “ਉਹ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਆਤਮਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਰੀਬ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸਵਰਗ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੈ।

4 ਉਹ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸੋਗ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ।

5 ਉਹ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਦੀਨ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਵਾਅਦੇ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਵਾਰਸ ਹੋਣਗੇ।

6 ਉਹ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਭੁੱਖੇ ਤੇ ਤਿਹਾਏ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਰਜਾਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ।

7 ਉਹ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।

8 ਉਹ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਦਿਲੋਂ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣਗੇ।

9 ਉਹ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਲਿਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਅਖਵਾਉਣਗੇ।

10 ਉਹ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸਹੀ ਕਾਰਜ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਤਾਏ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸਵਰਗ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।

11 “ਜਦੋਂ ਲੋਕ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਬੇਇੱਜ਼ਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਮਾੜਾ ਬੋਲਣ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਤੇ ਝੂਠੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਉਣ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਹੋ, ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਧੰਨ ਹੋ।

12 ਖੁਸ਼ ਹੋਵੋ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੰਦ ਮਾਣੋ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਵਰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਫ਼ਲ ਪਾਵੋਗੇ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ, ਜੋ ਨਬੀ ਤੁਹਾਥੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਰਹੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਦਿੱਤੇ।

13 ਤੁਸੀਂ ਲੂਣ ਅਤੇ ਰੋਸ਼ਨੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੋ “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਲੂਣ ਹੋ। ਪਰ ਜੇਕਰ ਲੂਣ ਬੇਸੁਆਦ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਸਲੂਣਾ ਹੋ ਸੱਕਦਾ? ਇਹ ਬੇਕਾਰ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਬਾਹਰ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮਿੱਧਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ।

14 “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ। ਜਿਹੜਾ ਨਗਰ ਪਹਾੜ ਤੇ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲਕੋਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸੱਕਦਾ।

15 ਲੋਕ ਦੀਵਾ ਜਗਾਕੇ ਕਟੋਰੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਮਾਦਾਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਇਹ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਭ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਨਣ ਦੇਵੇ।

16 ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਣ ਦਿਓ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਕੰਮ ਵੇਖ ਸੱਕਣ ਅਤੇ ਸਵਰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਣ।

17 ਯਿਸੂ ਅਤੇ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਨੇਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਿਖਤਾਂ “ਇਹ ਨਾ ਸੋਚੋ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਮੂਸਾ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ ਜਾਂ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਪੂਰਣ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ।

18 ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਟਲ ਨਾਂ ਜਾਏ ਸ਼ਰ੍ਹਾ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਅਲੋਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਪੂਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਇੱਕ ਅਖਰ ਜਾਂ ਅਖਰ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਬਿੰਦੀ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਟਲੇਗੀ।

19 “ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਅਣਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਨਾ ਮੰਨਣ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਵਰਗ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਘੱਟ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਣ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੇਗਾ ਉਹ ਸਵਰਗ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਹਾਨ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।

20 ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਜੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੰਮ ਨੇਮ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਰੀਸੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਧਰਮ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਵਰਗ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੜ ਸੱਕੋਂਗੇ।

21 ਯਿਸੂ ਦਾ ਕਰੋਧ ਬਾਰੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਜੋ ਬਹੁਤ ਚਿਰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਕਿ ‘ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਖੂਨ ਨਾ ਕਰ। ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਖੂਨ ਕਰੇਗਾ, ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸਦਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।’

22 ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਭਰਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿਸੇ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ। ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ, ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਗਾਲ੍ਹ ਕੱਢਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਿਰਨਾ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਸਭਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਅਤੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੂਰਖ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਨਰਕ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਦੇ ਖਤਰੇ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ।

23 “ਸੋ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਲਈ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਭੇਂਟ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਉਣ ਲੱਗੇ, ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਆਵੇ ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਭਰਾ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਹੈ।

24 ਤਾਂ ਓੱਥੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਭੇਟ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਚੱਲਿਆ ਜਾ। ਅਤੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਲ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਭੇਂਟ ਚੜ੍ਹਾ।

25 “ਜੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਲਿਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਨਾਲ ਜਿੰਨੀ ਛੇਤੀ ਹੋ ਸੱਕੇ, ਮਿਲਾਪ ਕਰ ਲੈ। ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ, ਹੋ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਉਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮੁਨਸਫ਼ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇ। ਅਤੇ ਮੁਨਸਫ਼ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕੈਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇ।

26 ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ, ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕੈਦ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਓਨੇ ਚਿਰ ਤੱਕ ਮੁਕਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਜਿੰਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਣਦਾਰ ਹੈਂ।

27 ਯਿਸੂ ਦਾ ਜਿਨਸੀ ਪਾਪ ਬਾਰੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਇਹ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ‘ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਬਦਕਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਪਾਪ ਨਾ ਕਰ।’

28 ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਔਰਤ ਵੱਲ ਬੁਰੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲੋਂ ਉਸ ਔਰਤ ਨਾਲ ਬਦਕਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਪਾਪ ਕਰ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ।

29 ਜੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੱਜੀ ਅੱਖ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਸੁੱਟ ਦੇ। ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਇਹੋ ਭਲਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਗਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋਵੇ ਪਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਨਰਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਜਾਵੇ।

30 ਤੇਰਾ ਸੱਜਾ ਹੱਥ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਟਕੇ ਸੁੱਟ ਦੇ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਭਲਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਗਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ਼ ਹੋਵੇ ਪਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਨਰਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਜਾਵੇ।

31 ਯਿਸੂ ਦਾ ਤਲਾਕ ਬਾਰੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ “ਇਹ ਵੀ ਆਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ‘ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਤਲਾਕ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਲਾਕਨਾਮਾ ਲਿਖਕੇ ਦੇਵੇ।’

32 ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਤਲਾਕ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਦਕਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਕੋਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਤਲਾਕ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਹੀ ਕਾਰਣ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਉਸਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੇ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਨਸੀ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਬਣਾਏ ਹੋਣ। ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਤਲਾਕਸ਼ੁਦਾ ਔਰਤ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਵਾਉਦਾ ਹੈ, ਬਦਕਾਰੀ ਦਾ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ।

33 ਯਿਸੂ ਦਾ ਵਾਅਦੇ ਕਰਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵਾਅਦਾ ਕਰੋਂ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਤੋੜੋ। ਜੋ ਵਾਅਦੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਿਆਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।

34 ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ, ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਵਾਅਦਾ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ। ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਸੁਰਗ ਦੀ ਸੌਂਹ ਨਾ ਖਾਓ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਸਿੰਘਾਸਨ ਹੈ।

35 ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੀ ਸੌਂਹ ਖਾਓ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚੌਂਕੀ ਹੈ। ਨਾ ਹੀ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੀ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਮਹਾਨ ਰਾਜੇ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਹੈ।

36 ਅਤੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਦੀ ਸੌਂਹ ਖਾਓ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਚਿੱਟਾ ਜਾਂ ਕਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦੇ।

37 ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੋਲਣ ਵਿੱਚ ‘ਹਾਂ’ ਦੀ ਹਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ‘ਨਾ’ ਦੀ ਨਾ, ਆਖੋ। ‘ਹਾਂ’ ਜਾਂ ‘ਨਾ’ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਆਖਣਾ ਬਦੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੈ।

38 ਯਿਸੂ ਦਾ ਬਦਲੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ, ‘ਅੱਖ ਦੇ ਬਦਲੇ ਅੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਦੰਦ ਦੇ ਬਦਲੇ ਦੰਦ।’

39 ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ, ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਆਦਮੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੋ। ਸਗੋਂ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਸੱਜੀ ਗਲ੍ਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਚਪੇੜ ਮਾਰੇ, ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦੂਜੀ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਵੱਲ ਘੁਮਾ ਦਿਓ।

40 ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੁਕੱਦਮਾ ਕਰੇ ਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਕੁੜਤਾ ਲੈਣਾ ਚਾਹੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਚੋਗ਼ਾ ਵੀ ਲੈ ਲੈਣ ਦਿਓ।

41 ਅਤੇ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਮੀਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਤੁਰਣ ਲਈ ਮਜਬੂਰ ਕਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਦੋ ਮੀਲ ਚੱਲੋ।

42 ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਤੁਹਾਥੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਓ ਅਤੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਤੁਹਾਥੋਂ ਉਧਾਰ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ, ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਮਨ੍ਹਾ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ।

43 ਸਭ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰੋ “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਇਹ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ‘ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰੋ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰ ਰੱਖੋ।’

44 ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰੋ। ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸਤਾਉਣ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰੋ।

45 ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰੋਂਗੇ, ਫ਼ੇਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਵਰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ, ਸੱਚੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋਵੋਗੇ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਪਿਤਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੂਰਜ, ਬੁਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਭਲੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਹੀ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਧਰਮੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਧਰਮੀਆਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਵੀ ਮੀਂਹ ਵਰਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

46 ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰੋ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਫ਼ਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ। ਕੀ ਮਸੂਲੀਏ ਵੀ ਇਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ?

47 ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੋਸਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਚੰਗਾ ਵਰਤਾਓ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਚੰਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ। ਕੀ ਕੁਧਰਮੀ ਵੀ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ?

48 ਸੋ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸੁਰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ, ਸੰਪੂਰਣ ਹੈ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵੀ ਸੰਪੂਰਣ ਹੋਵੋ।

1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

33 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne:

35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.

41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
