Genesis 21:3
ਸਾਰਾਹ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਇਸਹਾਕ ਰੱਖਿਆ।

ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਹਰ ਬੰਦਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣੇਗਾ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
Genesis 21:12
ਪਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਉਸ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਔਰਤ ਦਾ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਨਾ ਕਰ। ਉਹੀ ਕਰ ਜੋ ਸਾਰਾਹ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸਹਾਕ ਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਇੱਕੋ-ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰਿਸ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।

ਫ਼ੇਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਰੀਆਹ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਲੈ ਜਾ। ਮੋਰੀਆਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਬਲੀ ਚੜ੍ਹਾ। ਇਹ ਤੇਰਾ ਇੱਕ ਲੌਤਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਇਸਹਾਕ ਹੀ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ-ਉਹ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਥੋਂ ਦੇ ਪਹਾੜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਇੱਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੋਮ ਦੀ ਭੇਟ ਵਜੋਂ ਵਰਤ। ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਾਂਗਾ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਪਰਬਤ ਉੱਤੇ।”

ਪਰ ਮੈਂ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪੁਰਖੇ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਲੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਕੱਢਿਆ। ਮੈਂ ਉਸਦੀ ਕਨਾਨ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਉਲਾਦ ਦਾ ਵਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਮੈਂ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਇਸਹਾਕ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Matthew 1:2
ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਇਸਹਾਕ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸਹਾਕ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੀ। ਯਾਕੂਬ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੀ।
Acts 7:8
“ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਕਰਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਕਰਾਰ ਦਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਜਦੋਂ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਮੁੰਡਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ, ਅੱਠਵੇਂ ਦਿਨ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਇਸਹਾਕ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸਹਾਕ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ। ਅੱਗੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਇਹ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਾਡੇ ਬਾਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੂਰਵਜ਼ ਬਣੇ।
Romans 9:7
ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਉਲਾਦ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਹਨ। ਇਹੀ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ: “ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਸਹਾਕ ਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੇਮਕ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।”
