Amos 7

1 ਟਿੱਡੀਦਲ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਉਂ ਵਿਖਾਇਆ। ਜਦੋਂ ਦੂਜੀ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਵਕਤ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਟਿੱਡੀਦਲ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਹਾੜੀ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਵਾਢੀ ਦੇ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਸੀ।

2 ਟਿੱਡੀਦਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਸ ਦਾ ਘਾਹ ਖਾ ਗਿਆ। ਉਸ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮੁਆਫ਼ ਕਰਦੇ! ਯਾਕੂਬ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਬਚੇਗਾ! ਉਹ ਅਜੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਛੋਟਾ ਹੈ!”

3 ਤਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਬਾਬਤ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਬਦਲ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।”

4 ਅੱਗ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਵਿਖਾਈਆਂ। ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਪੁਕਾਰਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਅੱਗ ਨੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਡੂੰਘਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸਦੇ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

5 ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਰੋਕਦੇ! ਯਾਕੂਬ ਅਜੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਛੋਟਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਇਉਂ ਬਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਵੇਗਾ।”

6 ਤਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਇਰਾਦਾ ਬਦਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਉਂ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।”

7 ਸਾਹਲ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਦਰਸਾਇਆ: ਯੋਹਵਾਹ (ਲਾਟੂ) ਸਾਹਲ ਨੂੰ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਇੱਕ ਦੀਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਕੰਧ ਸਾਹਲ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸਾਰੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ।

8 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵਿਖਾਇਆ, “ਆਮੋਸ! ਤੂੰ ਕੀ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ?” ਮੈਂ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਸਾਹਲ!” ਫ਼ਿਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਵੇਖ! ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ, ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਹਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਕਦੀ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਨਕਾਰਾਂਗਾ।

9 ਇਸਹਾਕ ਦੇ ਉੱਚੇ ਥਾਂ ਵੀਰਾਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਕੂੜੇ ਦੇ ਢੇਰ ’ਚ ਬਦਲ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਮੈਂ ਯਾਰਾਬੁਆਮ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਨੂੰ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਢ ਸੁੱਟਾਂਗਾ।”

10 ਅਮਸਯਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਆਮੋਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਤਦ ਬੈਤ-ੇਲ ਦੇ ਜਾਜਕ ਅਮਸਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਭੇਜਿਆ, “ਆਮੋਸ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਮਤਾ ਪਕਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਭੜਕਾਅ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਦੇਸ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਦਾਸ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦਾ।

11 ਆਮੋਸ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ‘ਯਰਾਬੁਆਮ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਢਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਅਸੀਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।’”

12 ਅਮਸਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਮੋਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹੇ ਪੈਗੰਬਰ, ਬੱਲੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਵੱਲ ਚੱਲਾ ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਖਾ ਓੱਥੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਕਰ।

13 ਪਰ ਇੱਥੇ ਬੈਤ-ਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਰ ਵੱਧੇਰੇ ਭਵਿੱਖਬਾਣੀ ਨਾ ਕਰ। ਇਹ ਰਾਜੇ ਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਮੰਦਰ ਹੈ।”

14 ਤਦ ਆਮੋਸ ਨੇ ਅਮਸਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਕੋਈ ਪੇਸ਼ਾਵਰ ਨਬੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹਾਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਆਜੜੀ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਜੀਰ ਦੇ ਦ੍ਰੱਖਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

15 ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਆਜੜੀ ਸਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇੱਜੜ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ‘ਜਾ, ਅਤੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਗੰਮੀ ਵਾਕ ਆਖ।’

16 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣੋ! ਤੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਕਿ ‘ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਅਗੰਮ ਵਾਕ ਨਾ ਵਾਚ। ਅਤੇ ਇਸਹਾਕ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਨਾ ਕਰ।’

17 ਪਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ: ‘ਤੇਰੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੇਸਵਾ ਬਣੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਧੀਆਂ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਢੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਲੋਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਖੋਹ ਕੇ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੰਡ ਲੈਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਓਪਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਮਰੇਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਅਵੱਸ਼ ਹੀ ਬੰਦੀ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਦੂਜੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਅਸੀਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ।’”

1 Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king’s mowings.

2 And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord God, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.

3 The Lord repented for this: It shall not be, saith the Lord.

4 Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord God called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part.

5 Then said I, O Lord God, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.

6 The Lord repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord God.

7 Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.

8 And the Lord said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:

9 And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.

10 Then Amaziah the priest of Beth-el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.

11 For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land.

12 Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:

13 But prophesy not again any more at Beth-el: for it is the king’s chapel, and it is the king’s court.

14 Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:

15 And the Lord took me as I followed the flock, and the Lord said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.

16 Now therefore hear thou the word of the Lord: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac.

17 Therefore thus saith the Lord; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.

1 ਟਿੱਡੀਦਲ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਉਂ ਵਿਖਾਇਆ। ਜਦੋਂ ਦੂਜੀ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਵਕਤ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਟਿੱਡੀਦਲ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਹਾੜੀ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਵਾਢੀ ਦੇ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਸੀ।

2 ਟਿੱਡੀਦਲ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਸ ਦਾ ਘਾਹ ਖਾ ਗਿਆ। ਉਸ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮੁਆਫ਼ ਕਰਦੇ! ਯਾਕੂਬ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਬਚੇਗਾ! ਉਹ ਅਜੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਛੋਟਾ ਹੈ!”

3 ਤਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਬਾਬਤ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਬਦਲ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।”

4 ਅੱਗ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਵਿਖਾਈਆਂ। ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਪੁਕਾਰਦਿਆਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਅੱਗ ਨੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਡੂੰਘਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸਦੇ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

5 ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਰੋਕਦੇ! ਯਾਕੂਬ ਅਜੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਛੋਟਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਇਉਂ ਬਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਵੇਗਾ।”

6 ਤਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਇਰਾਦਾ ਬਦਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਉਂ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।”

7 ਸਾਹਲ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਦਰਸਾਇਆ: ਯੋਹਵਾਹ (ਲਾਟੂ) ਸਾਹਲ ਨੂੰ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਇੱਕ ਦੀਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਕੰਧ ਸਾਹਲ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸਾਰੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ।

8 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵਿਖਾਇਆ, “ਆਮੋਸ! ਤੂੰ ਕੀ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ?” ਮੈਂ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਸਾਹਲ!” ਫ਼ਿਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਵੇਖ! ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ, ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਹਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਕਦੀ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਨਕਾਰਾਂਗਾ।

9 ਇਸਹਾਕ ਦੇ ਉੱਚੇ ਥਾਂ ਵੀਰਾਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਕੂੜੇ ਦੇ ਢੇਰ ’ਚ ਬਦਲ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਮੈਂ ਯਾਰਾਬੁਆਮ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਨੂੰ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਢ ਸੁੱਟਾਂਗਾ।”

10 ਅਮਸਯਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਆਮੋਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਤਦ ਬੈਤ-ੇਲ ਦੇ ਜਾਜਕ ਅਮਸਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਭੇਜਿਆ, “ਆਮੋਸ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਮਤਾ ਪਕਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਭੜਕਾਅ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਦੇਸ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਦਾਸ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦਾ।

11 ਆਮੋਸ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ‘ਯਰਾਬੁਆਮ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਢਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਅਸੀਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।’”

12 ਅਮਸਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਮੋਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹੇ ਪੈਗੰਬਰ, ਬੱਲੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਵੱਲ ਚੱਲਾ ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਖਾ ਓੱਥੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਕਰ।

13 ਪਰ ਇੱਥੇ ਬੈਤ-ਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਰ ਵੱਧੇਰੇ ਭਵਿੱਖਬਾਣੀ ਨਾ ਕਰ। ਇਹ ਰਾਜੇ ਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਮੰਦਰ ਹੈ।”

14 ਤਦ ਆਮੋਸ ਨੇ ਅਮਸਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਕੋਈ ਪੇਸ਼ਾਵਰ ਨਬੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹਾਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਆਜੜੀ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਜੀਰ ਦੇ ਦ੍ਰੱਖਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

15 ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਆਜੜੀ ਸਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇੱਜੜ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ‘ਜਾ, ਅਤੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਗੰਮੀ ਵਾਕ ਆਖ।’

16 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣੋ! ਤੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਕਿ ‘ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਅਗੰਮ ਵਾਕ ਨਾ ਵਾਚ। ਅਤੇ ਇਸਹਾਕ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਨਾ ਕਰ।’

17 ਪਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ: ‘ਤੇਰੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੇਸਵਾ ਬਣੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਧੀਆਂ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਢੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਲੋਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਖੋਹ ਕੇ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੰਡ ਲੈਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਓਪਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਮਰੇਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਅਵੱਸ਼ ਹੀ ਬੰਦੀ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਦੂਜੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਅਸੀਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ।’”

1 Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king’s mowings.

2 And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord God, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.

3 The Lord repented for this: It shall not be, saith the Lord.

4 Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord God called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part.

5 Then said I, O Lord God, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.

6 The Lord repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord God.

7 Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.

8 And the Lord said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:

9 And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.

10 Then Amaziah the priest of Beth-el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.

11 For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land.

12 Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:

13 But prophesy not again any more at Beth-el: for it is the king’s chapel, and it is the king’s court.

14 Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:

15 And the Lord took me as I followed the flock, and the Lord said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.

16 Now therefore hear thou the word of the Lord: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac.

17 Therefore thus saith the Lord; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.
