ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਹਾਰ ਹੋਈ ਤਾਂ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਵੜੇ। ਸਮੂਏਲ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਕਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਹੀ ਰਿਹਾ।

ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਗਰਭਵਤੀ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਦੇਵੇਂਗੀ। ਉਹ ਖਾਸ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਉਹ ਨਜ਼ੀਰ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਤੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਾਲ ਨਾ ਕੱਟੀ। ਉਹ ਜੰਮਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਖਾਸ ਬੰਦਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਉਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਵੇਗਾ।”

ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਗਲਤੀ ਉਸ ਵਕਤ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਰਿਹਾ। ਜਦੋਂ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਦੋ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਉੱਤੇ ਰਾਜ ਕਰ ਚੁੱਕਾ।

ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੌਜੁਆਨ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਨੇ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਸਤਰ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਚੱਲ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਸੁੰਨਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਡੇਰੇ ਵੱਲ ਚੱਲੀਏ। ਕੀ ਪਤਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਡੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰੇ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੋਕ ਸੱਕਦਾ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਫ਼ਰਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਥੋੜੇ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਬਹੁਤੇ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਜੋ ਚਾਹੇ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ।”

ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਅਤੇ ਏਨਦੋਰ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਔਰਤ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੜਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਰਾਮਾਹ ਨਗਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਫ਼ਨਾਇਆ। ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਭੂਤ ਮ੍ਰਿਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਦੱਸਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੱਢਿਆ ਸੀ।
1 Samuel 31:1
ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਲੜੇ ਤਾਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਭੱਜ ਗਏ। ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਗਿਲਬੋਆ ਦੇ ਪਹਾੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ।
