“ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਮੰਦਰ ਬਣਾਵਾਂ।

ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਦਾਊਦ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਤਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਨਾਥਾਨ ਨਬੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਵੇਖ! ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਦਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਲੱਕੜ ਦੇ ਬਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰ ਨੇਮ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਕੇਵਲ ਤੰਬੂ ਹੇਠ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਮੰਦਰ ਬਨਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।”

ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ! ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਮੰਦਰ ਬਨਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

ਦਾਊਦ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈਓ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਲੋਕੋ! ਮੇਰੀ ਗੱਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣੋ! ਮੈਂ ਦਿਲੋਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਨੇਮ ਦੇ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਲਈ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਬਨਵਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਮੈਂ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਬਨਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਚੌਂਕੀ ਦਾ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਵੀ ਉੱਥੇ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਲਈ ਭਵਨ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਵਿਉਂਤ ਬਣਾਈ।
