Deuteronomy 28:53
ਤੁਸੀਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁੱਖ ਭੋਗੋਂਗੇ। ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਘੇਰ ਲੈਣਗੇ। ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਭੋਜਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੈਣ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਭੁੱਖੇ ਹੀ ਮਰ ਜਾਵੋਂਗੇ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇੰਨੇ ਭੁੱਖੇ ਹੋਵੋਂਗੇ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਧੀਆਂ-ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾ ਲਵੋਂਗੇ-ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਖਾਵੋਂਗੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ।

| Lord the | נָֽתַן | nātan | NA-tahn |
| thy God | לְךָ֖ | lĕkā | leh-HA |
| hath given | יְהוָ֣ה | yĕhwâ | yeh-VA |
| siege, the in thee, | אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ | ʾĕlōhêkā | ay-loh-HAY-ha |
| straitness, the in and | בְּמָצוֹר֙ | bĕmāṣôr | beh-ma-TSORE |
| wherewith | וּבְמָצ֔וֹק | ûbĕmāṣôq | oo-veh-ma-TSOKE |
| thine enemies | אֲשֶׁר | ʾăšer | uh-SHER |
| shall distress | יָצִ֥יק | yāṣîq | ya-TSEEK |
| thee: | לְךָ֖ | lĕkā | leh-HA |
