Deuteronomy 21:3
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਚੱਲ ਜਾਵੇ ਕਿ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਮੁਰਦਾ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਨੇੜੇ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਗ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਗਾਂ ਲਿਆਉਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਗਾਂ ਹੋਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਕਦੇ ਸੂਈ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ। ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੰਮ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਕਦੇ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਨਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ।

| the slain man, | הֶֽחָלָ֑ל | heḥālāl | heh-ha-LAHL |
| elders the even | וְלָֽקְח֡וּ | wĕlāqĕḥû | veh-la-keh-HOO |
| of that | זִקְנֵי֩ | ziqnēy | zeek-NAY |
| city | הָעִ֨יר | hāʿîr | ha-EER |
| shall take | הַהִ֜וא | hahiw | ha-HEEV |
| an heifer, | עֶגְלַ֣ת | ʿeglat | eɡ-LAHT |
| בָּקָ֗ר | bāqār | ba-KAHR | |
| which | אֲשֶׁ֤ר | ʾăšer | uh-SHER |
| hath not | לֹֽא | lōʾ | loh |
| with, wrought been | עֻבַּד֙ | ʿubbad | oo-BAHD |
| and which | בָּ֔הּ | bāh | ba |
| hath not | אֲשֶׁ֥ר | ʾăšer | uh-SHER |
| drawn | לֹֽא | lōʾ | loh |
| in the yoke; | מָשְׁכָ֖ה | moškâ | mohsh-HA |
