Amos 5
1 ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਸ਼ੋਕ ਗੀਤ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕੋ! ਇਸ ਗੀਤ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣੋ। ਇਹ ਵੈਣ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੈ।
2 ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਅਣਵਿਆਹੀ ਕੁੜੀ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਈ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਖੜੀ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਯੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ। ਉਹ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਤੇ ਇੱਕਲੀ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਪਰ ਉੱਠਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਯੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
3 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ: “ਜਿਸ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਨਿਕਲਣਗੇ, ਸੌ ਆਦਮੀ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਵਾਪਸ ਪਰਤਨਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਸੌ ਆਦਮੀ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਨਿਕਲਣਗੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਦਸ ਲੋਕ ਹੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਸ ਪਰਤਣਗੇ।”
4 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਤਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਣਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਇਉਂ ਫ਼ੁਰਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ: “ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭਾਲਣ ਆਓ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵੋ।
5 ਪਰ ਬੈਤ-ਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਵੇਖੋ ਗਿਲਗਾਲ ਵੱਲ ਨਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਨਾ ਬਏਰਸ਼ਬਾ ਦੀ ਸੀਮਾ ਪਾਰ ਕਰੋ ਗਿਲਗਾਲ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਲੈ ਜਾਕੇ ਅਸੀਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਬੈਤ-ਏਲ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
6 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਤੱਕੋ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਹੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਿਉਵੋਂਗੇ। ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਯੂਸਫ਼ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਤੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਅੱਗ ਭੜਕੇਗੀ ਜੋ ਉਸਦਾ ਘਰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ। ਬੈਤ-ਏਲ ਵਿੱਚਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਅੱਗ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਝਾਉਣ ਯੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
7 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਹੀ ਸਪਤਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਤਾਕਤ ਪੁੰਜ ਨੂੰ ਬਨਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਹਨੇਰ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਨ ’ਚ ਅਤੇ ਦਿਨ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਤ ’ਚ ਉਲਬਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਪਾਣੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਪਰ ਵਰ੍ਹਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸਦਾ ਨਾਉਂ ਯਾਹਵੇਹ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕਿਲਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਤਬਾਹੀ ਲਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।” ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਦ ਕਰਨੀਆਂ ਤੂੰ ਚੰਗਿਆਈ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ’ਚ ਬਦਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਤਮ ਕਰਕੇ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਤੇ ਪਟਕ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
8 ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਧਾਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ, ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚ ਬੋਲਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਰਸੱਕਾਰਿਆ।
9 ਤੁਸੀਂ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਨਾਜਾਇਜ਼ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਧੂ ਕਣਕ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਪੱਥਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਜਾਉਂਦੇ ਤੇ ਘੜਦੇ ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਘਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਨਾ ਪਾਵੋਂਗੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅੱਤ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਅੰਗੂਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਗ਼ ਲਗਵਾਏ ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਅ ਨਾ ਪੀ ਸੱਕੇਂਗੇ।
10 ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੱਚਮੁੱਚ ਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਬੜੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨੇਕੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਹ ਚਲਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਾਇਆ ਗ਼ਲਤ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਲਈ ਰਿਸ਼ਵਤ ਲਿੱਤੀ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੱਕ ਮਾਰਿਆ।
11 ਉਸ ਵਕਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਚੁੱਪ ਸਾਧ ਲਵੇਗਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਮਾਂ ਬੁਰਾ ਹੈ।
12 ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਭੈੜੇ ਕੰਮ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਰਹੋਂਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਬ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਮਾਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਸਦਾ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
13 ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਚੰਗਿਆਈ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰੋ ਅਦਾਲਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਨਸਾਫ਼ ਵਾਪਸ ਲਿਆਓ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਫਿਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਸੈਨਾ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਯੂਸਫ਼ ਦੇ ਬਚੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਤੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ।
14 ਮਹਾਂ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਸਰਬਸ਼ਕਤੀਮਾਨ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, “ਚੌਁਕਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੋਕ ਕੁਰਲਾਉਣਗੇ ਗਲੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਚੀਤਕਾਰ ਕਰਣਗੇ ਲੋਕ ਭਾੜੇ ਤੇ ਵੈਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਰੀਦਣਗੇ।
15 ਲੋਕ ਅੰਗੂਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਗ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੋਣ-ਪਿੱਟਣਗੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਦੀ ਲੰਘਦਾ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦੰਡ ਦੇਵਾਂਗਾ।” ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਕੁਝ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੈ।
16 ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਖਾਸ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣਾ ਲੋਚਦੇ ਹਨ ਭਲਾ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਕਿਉਂ ਵੇਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹੋ? ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਖਾਸ ਦਿਨ ਰੋਸ਼ਨੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਕਰੇਗਾ।
17 ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੋਵੋਂਗੇ ਜੋ ਬੱਬਰ-ਸ਼ੇਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਪਰ ਉਸਤੇ ਰਿੱਛ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੋਵੋਂਗੇ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਿਫ਼ਾਜ਼ਤ ਲਈ ਘਰ ’ਚ ਵੜਕੇ, ਕੰਧ ਤੇ ਝੁਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਪ ਤੋਂ ਡਸਿਆ ਜਾਵੇ।
18 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਖਾਸ ਦਿਨ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੋਗ ਦਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਦਾ ਨਾ ਕਿ ਰੋਸ਼ਨੀ ਦਾ ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰ ਦਾ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਰੋਸ਼ਨੀ ਦੀ ਲੀਕ ਨਹੀਂ।
19 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਦ ਕਰਨਾ “ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪਰਬਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀਆਂ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਸਭਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਾਣਦਾ।
20 ਭਾਵੇਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੋਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਟਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਨਾਜ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਟਾ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਵੋ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
21 ਆਪਣੇ ਗੀਤ ਮੈਥੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰੱਖੋ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਰਬਾਬਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਗੀਤ ਨਾ ਸੁਣਾਂਗਾ।
22 ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਲਾਈ ਨਿਰਛਲ ਪਾਣੀਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਵਹਿਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਚੰਗਿਆਈ ਵਗਦੀ ਨਦੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਕਿ ਕਦੇ ਸੁੱਕਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ।
23 ਹੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ, ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਜਾੜ ਵਿੱਚਲੇ ਚਾਲੀ ਵਰ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਟਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬਲੀਆਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈਆਂ? ਨਹੀਂ।
24 ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਮੂਰਤੀਆਂ ਚੁੱਕੋਂਗੇ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਸੱਕੂਬ ਅਤੇ ਕੈਵਾਨ, ਆਪਣੇ ਤਾਰੇ-ਦੇਵਤੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਣਾਈਆਂ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਬਣਾਇਆ।
25 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦੰਮਿਸਕ ਤੋਂ ਦੇਸ਼-ਨਿਕਾਲਾ ਦੇ ਦੇਵਾਂਗਾ।” ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਹ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਰਬ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਮਾਨ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਹੈ।
1 Hear ye this word which I take up against you, even a lamentation, O house of Israel.
2 The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up.
3 For thus saith the Lord God; The city that went out by a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel.
4 For thus saith the Lord unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live:
5 But seek not Beth-el, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beer-sheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Beth-el shall come to nought.
6 Seek the Lord, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Beth-el.
7 Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth,
8 Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The Lord is his name:
9 That strengtheneth the spoiled against the strong, so that the spoiled shall come against the fortress.
10 They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.
11 Forasmuch therefore as your treading is upon the poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them.
12 For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.
13 Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.
14 Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the Lord, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.
15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the Lord God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
16 Therefore the Lord, the God of hosts, the Lord, saith thus; Wailing shall be in all streets; and they shall say in all the highways, Alas! alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailing.
17 And in all vineyards shall be wailing: for I will pass through thee, saith the Lord.
18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord! to what end is it for you? the day of the Lord is darkness, and not light.
19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
20 Shall not the day of the Lord be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?
21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.
22 Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.
23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.
24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.
25 Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
26 But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.
27 Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the Lord, whose name is The God of hosts.

1 ਖਲਵਾੜਾ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਰੂਥ ਦੀ ਸੱਸ ਨਾਓਮੀ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੇਰੀਏ ਧੀਏ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਚੰਗਾ ਪਤੀ ਲੱਭਣ ਦੇ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਕਰੇਗਾ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਰਾਮ ਮਿਲ ਸੱਕੇ।
Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?
2 ਹੋ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਹੀ ਢੁਕਵਾਂ ਆਦਮੀ ਹੋਵੇ। ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਸਾਡਾ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕੀ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਾਮੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਅੱਜ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਖਲਵਾੜੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੌਂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਟਕ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor.
3 ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਹਾ ਕੇ ਅਤਰ ਛਿੜਕ ਲੈ ਚੰਗੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਾ ਅਤੇ ਖਲਵਾੜੇ ਵੱਲ ਚਲੀ ਜਾ, ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਓਨੀ ਦੇਰ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਾ ਆਵੀਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਉਹ ਰਾਤ ਦਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਖਤਮ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਲਵੇ।
Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.
4 ਖਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਉਹ ਅਰਾਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਲੇਟ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਉੱਥੇ ਜਾਵੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਿਆਂ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵਸਤਰ ਹਟਾ ਦੇਵੀਂ। ਫ਼ਿਰ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਨਾਲ ਲੇਟ ਜਾਵੀਂ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਕੀ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ।”
And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.
5 ਰੂਥ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਮੈਂ ਉਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਕਰਾਂਗੀ।”
And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.
6 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਰੂਥ ਖਲਵਾੜੇ ਵੱਲ ਗਈ। ਰੂਥ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕੀਤਾ ਜੋ ਉਸਦੀ ਸੱਸ ਨੇ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ।
And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her.
7 ਖਾਣ-ਪੀਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੰਤੁਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਅਨਾਜ ਦੇ ਢੇਰ ਨੇੜੇ ਲੇਟ ਗਿਆ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਰੂਥ ਬਹੁਤ ਚੁੱਪ-ਚਾਪ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵਸਤਰ ਹਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਰੂਥ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਲੇਟ ਗਈ।
And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down.
8 ਅੱਧੀ ਰਾਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਨੇ ਪਾਸਾ ਪਰਤਿਆ ਆਪਣੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਠ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ। ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨੇੜੇ ਇੱਕ ਔਰਤ ਲੇਟੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ।
And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.
9 ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ?” ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਨੌਕਰਾਨੀ ਰੂਥ ਹਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਆਪਣੀ ਚਾਦਰ ਪਾ ਦਿਉ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਖੇ ਹੋ।”
And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.
10 ਤਾਂ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੁਟਿਆਰੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਲਾ ਕਰੇ। ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਰਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨੀ ਉਸ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨੀ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਡੇਰੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਤੂੰ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਓਮੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ। ਤੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਦੀ ਲਈ ਕਿਸੇ ਅਮੀਰ ਜਾਂ ਗਰੀਬ ਜਵਾਨ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਚੁਣ ਸੱਕਦੀ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।
And he said, Blessed be thou of the Lord, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.
11 ਹੁਣ, ਮੁਟਿਆਰੇ ਭੈਭੀਤ ਨਾ ਹੋ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਆਖੇਗੀ ਮੈਂ ਉਹੀ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ। ਸਾਡੇ ਕਸਬੇ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਚੰਗੀ ਔਰਤ ਹੈ।
And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.
12 ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਸੱਚ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕੀ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ ਹਾਂ। ਪਰ ਇੱਥੇ ਇੱਕ ਆਦਮੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਧੇਰੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕੀ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ ਹੈ।
And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman: howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I.
13 ਰਾਤ ਇੱਥੇ ਰੁਕ ਜਾ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਦੇਖਾਂਗੇ ਕਿ ਕੀ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰੇਗਾ। ਜੇ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਚੰਗੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਉਹ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਜਰ-ਨਾਜਰ ਸਮਝਕੇ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ਾਦੀ ਕਰ ਲਵਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਅਲੀਮਲਕ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਾਪਸ ਖਰੀਦ ਦੇਵਾਂਗਾ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸਵੇਰ ਹੋਣ ਤੱਕ ਇੱਥੇ ਲੇਟੀ ਰਹਿ।”
Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman’s part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the Lord liveth: lie down until the morning.
14 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਰੂਥ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨੇੜੇ ਸਵੇਰ ਤੱਕ ਲੇਟੀ ਰਹੀ। ਹਾਲੇ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਉੱਠ ਖਲੋਤੀ। ਇਸਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਿ ਇੰਨਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ ਕਿ ਲੋਕ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣ ਲੈਣ। ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਪਤ ਰੱਖਾਂਗੇ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਪਿੱਛਲੀ ਰਾਤ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਈ ਸੀ।”
And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose up before one could know another. And he said, Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor.
15 ਫ਼ੇਰ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਆਪਣਾ ਸ਼ੌਲ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ।” ਇਸ ਲਈ ਰੂਥ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ੌਲ ਨੂੰ ਖੋਲ੍ਹਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਨੇ ਜੌਆਂ ਦੇ ਛੇ ਤੋਂਲ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਸੱਸ ਨਾਓਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਗਾਤ ਵਜੋਂ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੂਥ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੌਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਪੇਟ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਵਪਸ ਚੱਲਾ ਗਿਆ।
Also he said, Bring the vail that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and she went into the city.
16 ਰੂਥ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੱਸ ਨਾਓਮੀ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ। ਨਾਓਮੀ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਵੱਲ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਕੌਣ ਹੈ?” ਰੂਥ ਘਰ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ। ਨਾਓਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਗੱਲ ਦੱਸੱਦਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ।
And when she came to her mother in law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her.
17 ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਜੌਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਸੁਗਾਤ ਵਜੋਂ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਸੁਗਾਤ ਲਈ ਬਿਨਾ ਘਰ ਨਾ ਜਾਵਾਂ।”
And she said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, Go not empty unto thy mother in law.
18 ਨਾਓਮੀ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਧੀਏ ਓਨੀ ਦੇਰ ਤੱਕ ਹੌਂਸਲਾ ਰੱਖ ਜਿੰਨੀ ਦੇਰ ਤੱਕ ਅਸੀਂ ਕੁਝ ਵਾਪਰਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਬੋਅਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਓਨੀ ਦੇਰ ਤੱਕ ਚੈਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਵੇਗਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਅਸੀਂ ਦਿਨ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਜਾਣ ਲਵਾਂਗੇ ਕਿ ਕੀ ਵਾਪਰੇਗਾ।”
Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.
