ਹਜ਼ਾਏਲ ਨੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਸੁਆਮੀ, ਤੂੰ ਰੋ ਕਿਉਂ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ?” ਅਲੀਸ਼ਾ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ “ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਰੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਬਦੀ ਤੂੰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਤੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਦੇਵੇਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੌਜੁਆਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਢ ਸੁੱਟੇਗਾ। ਤੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਸੂਮ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਵੇਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗਰਭਵਤੀ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਚੀਰ ਸੁੱਟੇਂਗਾ।”

And Hazael	וַיֹּ֣אמֶר	wayyōʾmer	va-YOH-mer
said,	חֲזָאֵ֔ל	ḥăzāʾēl	huh-za-ALE
Why	מַדּ֖וּעַ	maddûaʿ	MA-doo-ah
weepeth	אֲדֹנִ֣י	ʾădōnî	uh-doh-NEE
lord? my	בֹכֶ֑ה	bōke	voh-HEH
And he answered,	וַיֹּ֡אמֶר	wayyōʾmer	va-YOH-mer
Because	כִּֽי	kî	kee
I know	יָדַ֡עְתִּי	yādaʿtî	ya-DA-tee
	אֵ֣ת	ʾēt	ate
the evil	אֲשֶׁר	ʾăšer	uh-SHER
that	תַּֽעֲשֶׂה֩	taʿăśeh	ta-uh-SEH
thou wilt do	לִבְנֵ֨י	libnê	leev-NAY
children the unto	יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל	yiśrāʾēl	yees-ra-ALE
of Israel:	רָעָ֗ה	rāʿâ	ra-AH
holds strong their	מִבְצְרֵיהֶ֞ם	mibṣĕrêhem	meev-tseh-ray-HEM
wilt thou set	תְּשַׁלַּ֤ח	tĕšallaḥ	teh-sha-LAHK
on fire,	בָּאֵשׁ֙	bāʾēš	ba-AYSH
men young their and	וּבַחֻֽרֵיהֶם֙	ûbaḥurêhem	oo-va-hoo-ray-HEM
wilt thou slay	בַּחֶ֣רֶב	baḥereb	ba-HEH-rev
