ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਅਲੀਸ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਤੂੰ ਇੱਥੇ ਰੁਕ ਜਾਵੀਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਯਰਦਨ ਦਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ।” ਅਲੀਸ਼ਾ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਹਾ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਸੌਂਹ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਜਦ ਤਕ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਮੈਂ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ।” ਇਸ ਲਈ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਚੱਲੇ ਗਏ।
