ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇਕਰਾਰਨਾਮਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੂਜੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਣਾ, ਨਾ ਹੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਲੀ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਉਣੀ ਹੈ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਪਾਲਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ।
