ਪਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ। ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨਾਲ ਇਕਰਾਰਨਾਮਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਬਣੇਗਾ।

ਫ਼ਿਰ ਵੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕਾਰਣ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨਾਲ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਸਦੀ ਅੰਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਰਾਜ ਕਰੇਗਾ।
2 Samuel 23:5
“ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਤੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਇਕਰਾਰਨਾਮਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਠੀਕ ਅਤੇ ਪੱਕਾ ਹੈ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਜੇਤੂ ਰੱਖੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਇੱਛਾਵਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ!
2 Samuel 21:17
ਪਰ ਸਰੂਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਬੀਸ਼ਈ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਢ ਕੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਬਚਾਅ ਲਈ। ਤਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਵਚਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹੁਣ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸੱਕਦੇ, ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਉਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਮਹਾਨ ਆਗੂ ਗੁਆ ਬੈਠਣਗੇ।”
