ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਟੱਕਰ ਗਿਆ। ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਖੋਤੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਗਿਆ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਖੋਤਾ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡੇ ਬੋਹੜ ਦੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਹੇਠੋਂ ਦੀ ਲੰਘਿਆ। ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੰਘਣੀਆਂ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੜ ਗਿਆ। ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਦਾ ਖੋਤਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੁੱਖ ਤੇ ਲਟਕਦਿਆਂ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੇਠੋਁ ਨਿਕਲ ਗਿਆ।
