ਅਲਕਾਨਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦਾ ਸ਼ੀਲੋਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਦੇ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਮਾਤੈਮ ਤੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੀ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅਲਕਾਨਾਹ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਸੂਫ਼ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਯਰੋਹਾਮ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਯਰੋਹਾਮ ਅਲੀਹੂ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਲੀਹੂ ਤੋਹੁ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਤੋਂਹੁ ਸੂਫ਼ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੀ।

ਆਦਮੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅਲੀਮਲਕ ਸੀ। ਉਸਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਓਮੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਮਹਿਲੋਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਲਉਨ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਤਲਹਮ ਤੋਂ ਇਫ਼ਰਾਥੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਮੋਆਬ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਕੇ ਵੱਸ ਗਏ।

ਇੱਕ ਲੇਵੀ ਆਦਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਰਾਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਉੱਥੇ ਇੱਕ ਲੇਵੀ ਅਦਮੀ ਸੀ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਦੂਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਦੇ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਨੌਕਰਾਣੀ ਸੀ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਪਤਨੀ ਵਰਗੀ ਹੀ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਦਾਸੀ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਬੈਤਲਹਮ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੀ ਸੀ।

ਮੀਕਾਹ ਦੇ ਬੁੱਤ ਇੱਕ ਆਦਮੀ ਸੀ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੀ ਮੀਕਾਹ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਦੇ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ।

ਗਿਲਆਦ ਦੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਬਜ਼ਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਲੋਕ ਯਰਦਨ ਨਦੀ ਪਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵੱਲ ਪੈਂਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ। ਜਦੋਂ ਵੀ ਕਦੇ ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਦਾ, ਬਚ ਕੇ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ ਬੰਦਾ ਨਦੀ ਕੋਲ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਦਾ, “ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਜਾਣ ਦਿਉ”, ਗਿਲਆਦ ਦੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਦੇ, “ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਤੋਂ ਹੈ?” ਜੇ ਉਹ ਆਖਦਾ, “ਨਹੀਂ,”

ਹਾਰੂਨ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਅਲਆਜ਼ਾਰ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਦੇ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਿਬੀਹ ਵਿਖੇ ਦਫ਼ਨਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਗਿਬੀਹ ਅਲਆਜ਼ਾਰ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਫ਼ੀਨਹਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।

ਫ਼ੇਰ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ, ਅਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਮਨੱਸ਼ਹ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਬਹੁਤ-ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੋ। ਅਤੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਤਾਕਤਵਰ ਹੋ। ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਧੇਰੇ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਮਿਲਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
