ਤਾਂ ਨਬੀ ਨੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਫ਼ਰਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਇਸ ਕਾਰਣ ਉਸਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਬਦਲੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਬਦਲੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਰਨਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ।”

ਜਦੋਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਉੱਥੇ ਆਇਆ, ਨਬੀ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੜਨ ਲਈ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਜਣਾ ਦੁਸਮਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਲਿਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ‘ਇਸਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ। ਜੇਕਰ ਇਹ ਭੱਜ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਬਦਲੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ ਜਾਂ ਇਸ ਬਦਲੇ ਹਰਜਾਨੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ 34 ਕਿਲੋ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੇਣੀ ਪਵੇਗੀ।’

ਬਨ-ਹਦਦ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਅਹਾਬ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਤੋਂ ਖੋਹੇ ਸਨ, ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਸ ਕਰ ਦੇਵਾਂਗਾ। ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਲਈ ਦੰਮਿਸਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਜ਼ਾਰ ਬਣਾ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਸਾਮਰਿਯਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।” ਤਦ ਅਹਾਬ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਤੇ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਕਰ ਦੇਵਾਂਗਾ ਜੇਕਰ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।” ਸੋ ਦੋਨਾਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦਾ ਇਕਰਾਰਨਾਮਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਅਹਾਬ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਬਨ-ਹਦਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਇੰਝ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਨੇ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨੇ ਤੋਂ ਤੀਰ ਚੱਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਤੀਰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਆਹਾਬ ਦੇ ਕਵਚ ਦੀ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਤੇ ਵਜਿਆ। ਤਦ ਆਹਾਬ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰਥੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਵਾਪਸ ਮੁੜ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇੱਥੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਜਾ, ਮੈਂ ਜ਼ਖਮੀ ਹਾਂ।”
