Proverbs 1 in Tamil

1 தாவீதின் குமாரனும் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவுமாகிய சாலொமோனின் நீதிமொழிகள்: The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;

2 இவைகளால் ஞானத்தையும் போதகத்தையும் அறிந்து, புத்திமதிகளை உணர்ந்து, To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;

3 விவேகம், நீதி, நியாயம், நிதானம் என்பவைகளைப்பற்றிய உபதேசத்தை அடையலாம். To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;

4 இவைகள் பேதைகளுக்கு வினாவையும், வாலிபருக்கு அறிவையும் விவேகத்தையும் கொடுக்கும். To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

5 புத்திமான் இவைகளைக் கேட்டு, அறிவில் தேறுவான்; விவேகி நல்லாலோசனைகளை அடைந்து; A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

6 நீதிமொழியையும், அதின் அர்த்தத்தையும், ஞானிகளின் வாக்கியங்களையும், அவர்கள் உரைத்த புதைபொருள்களையும் அறிந்துகொள்வான். To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

7 கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுதலே ஞானத்தின் ஆரம்பம்; மூடர் ஞானத்தையும் போதகத்தையும் அசட்டைபண்ணுகிறார்கள். The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

8 என் மகனே, உன் தகப்பன் புத்தியைக் கேள், உன் தாயின் போதகத்தைத் தள்ளாதே. My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

9 அவைகள் உன் சிரசுக்கு அலங்காரமான முடியும், உன் கழுத்துக்குச் சரப்பணியுமாயிருக்கும். For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

10 என் மகனே, பாவிகள் உனக்கு நயங்காட்டினாலும் நீ சம்மதியாதே. My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

11 எங்களோடே வா, இரத்தஞ்சிந்தும்படி நாம் பதிவிருந்து, குற்றமற்றிருக்கிறவர்களை முகாந்தரமின்றிப் பிடிக்கும்படி ஒளித்திருப்போம்; If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:

12 பாதாளம் விழுங்குவதுபோல் நாம் அவர்களை உயிரோடே விழுங்குவோம்; குழியில் இறங்குகிறவர்கள் விழுங்கப்படுவதுபோல் அவர்களை முழுமையும் விழுங்குவோம்; Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:

13 விலையுயர்ந்த சகலவிதப் பொருள்களையும் கண்டடைவோம்; கொள்ளைப் பொருளினால் நம்முடைய வீடுகளை நிரப்புவோம். We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:

14 எங்களோடே பங்காளியாயிரு; நம்மெல்லாருக்கும் ஒரே பை இருக்குமென்று அவர்கள் சொல்வார்களாகில்; Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:

15 என் மகனே, நீ அவர்களோடே வழிநடவாமல், உன் காலை அவர்கள் பாதைக்கு விலக்குவாயாக. My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:

16 அவர்கள் கால்கள் தீங்குசெய்ய ஓடி, இரத்தஞ்சிந்தத் தீவிரிக்கிறது. For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.

17 எவ்வகையான பட்சியானாலும் சரி, அதின் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக வலையை விரிப்பது விருதா. Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.

18 இவர்களோ தங்கள் இரத்தத்திற்கே பதிவிருக்கிறார்கள், தங்கள் பிராணனுக்கே ஒளி வைத்திருக்கிறார்கள். And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.

19 பொருளாசையுள்ள எல்லாருடைய வழியும் இதுவே; இது தன்னையுடையவர்களின் உயிரை வாங்கும். So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.

20 ஞானமானது வெளியே நின்று கூப்பிடுகிறது, வீதிகளில் சத்தமிடுகிறது. Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:

21 அது சந்தடியுள்ள தெருக்களின் சந்திலும், ஒலிமுகவாசலிலும் நின்று கூப்பிட்டு, பட்டணத்தில் தன் வார்த்தைகளை வசனித்துச் சொல்லுகிறது: She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,

22 பேதைகளே, நீங்கள் பேதைமையை விரும்புவதும், நிந்தனைக்காரரே, நீங்கள் நிந்தனையில் பிரியப்படுவதும், மதியீனரே, நீங்கள் ஞானத்தை வெறுப்பதும், எதுவரைக்கும் இருக்கும். How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

23 என் கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலுக்குத் திரும்புங்கள்; இதோ, என் ஆவியை உங்களுக்கு அருளுவேன்; என் வார்த்தைகளை உங்களுக்குத் தெரிவிப்பேன். Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

24 நான் கூப்பிட்டும், நீங்கள் கேட்கமாட்டோம் என்கிறீர்கள்; நான் என் கையை நீட்டியும் கவனிக்கிறவன் ஒருவனும் இல்லை. Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

25 என் ஆலோசனையையெல்லாம் நீங்கள் தள்ளி, என் கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலை வெறுத்தீர்கள். But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

26 ஆகையால், நானும் உங்கள் ஆபத்துக்காலத்தில் நகைத்து, நீங்கள் பயப்படுங்காரியம் வரும்போது ஆகடியம்பண்ணுவேன். I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

27 நீங்கள் பயப்படுங்காரியம் புசல்போல் வரும்போதும், ஆபத்து சூறாவளிபோல் உங்களுக்கு நேரிடும்போதும், நெருக்கமும் இடுக்கமும் உங்கள்மேல் வரும்போதும், ஆகடியம்பண்ணுவேன். When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

28 அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் என்னை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிடுவார்கள்; நான் மறுஉத்தரவு கொடுக்கமாட்டேன்; அவர்கள் அதிகாலையிலே என்னைத் தேடுவார்கள், என்னைக் காணமாட்டார்கள். Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

29 அவர்கள் அறிவை வெறுத்தார்கள், கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுதலைத் தெரிந்துகொள்ளாமற்போனார்கள். For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

30 என் ஆலோசனையை அவர்கள் விரும்பவில்லை; என் கடிந்துகொள்ளுதலையெல்லாம் அசட்டைபண்ணினார்கள். They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

31 ஆகையால் அவர்கள் தங்கள் வழியின் பலனைப் புசிப்பார்கள்; தங்கள் யோசனைகளினால் திருப்தியடைவார்கள். Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

32 பேதைகளின் மாறுபாடு அவர்களைக் கொல்லும், மூடரின் நிர்விசாரம் அவர்களை அழிக்கும். For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

33 எனக்குச் செவிகொடுக்கிறவன் எவனோ, அவன் விக்கினமின்றி வாசம்பண்ணி, ஆபத்திற்குப் பயப்படாமல் அமைதியாயிருப்பான். But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

1 Thaaveethin kumaaranum isravaelin raajaavumaakiya saalomonin neethimolikal: The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;

2 Ivaikalaal njaanaththaiyum pothakaththaiyum arinthu, puththimathikalai unarnthu, To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;

3 Vivaekam, neethi, niyaayam, nithaanam enpavaikalaippattiya upathaesaththai ataiyalaam. To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;

4 Ivaikal paethaikalukku vinaavaiyum, vaaliparukku arivaiyum vivaekaththaiyum kodukkum. To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

5 Puththimaan ivaikalaik kaettu, arivil thaeraுvaan; vivaeki nallaalosanaikalai atainthu; A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

6 Neethimoliyaiyum, athin arththaththaiyum, njaanikalin vaakkiyangalaiyum, avarkal uraiththa puthaiporulkalaiyum arinthukolvaan. To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

7 Karththarukkup payappaduthalae njaanaththin aarampam; moodar njaanaththaiyum pothakaththaiyum asattaைpannnukiraarkal. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

8 En makanae, un thakappan puththiyaik kael, un thaayin pothakaththaith thallaathae. My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

9 Avaikal un sirasukku alangaaramaana mutiyum, un kaluththukkuch sarappanniyumaayirukkum. For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

10 En makanae, paavikal unakku nayangaattinaalum nee sammathiyaathae. My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

11 Engalotae vaa, iraththanjinthumpati naam pathivirunthu, kuttamattirukkiravarkalai mukaantharamintip pitikkumpati oliththiruppom; If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:

12 Paathaalam vilunguvathupol naam avarkalai uyirotae vilunguvom; kuliyil irangukiravarkal vilungappaduvathupol avarkalai mulumaiyum vilunguvom; Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:

13 Vilaiyuyarntha sakalavithap porulkalaiyum kanndataivom; kollaip porulinaal nammutaiya veedukalai nirappuvom. We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:

14 Engalotae pangaaliyaayiru; nammellaarukkum orae pai irukkumentu avarkal solvaarkalaakil; Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:

15 En makanae, nee avarkalotae valinadavaamal, un kaalai avarkal paathaikku vilakkuvaayaaka. My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:

16 Avarkal kaalkal theenguseyya oti, iraththanjinthath theevirikkirathu. For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.

17 Evvakaiyaana patchiyaanaalum sari, athin kannkalukku munpaaka valaiyai virippathu viruthaa. Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.

18 Ivarkalo thangal iraththaththirkae pathivirukkiraarkal, thangal piraananukkae oli vaiththirukkiraarkal. And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.

19 Porulaasaiyulla ellaarutaiya valiyum ithuvae; ithu thannaiyutaiyavarkalin uyirai vaangum. So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.

20 Njaanamaanathu veliyae nintu kooppidukirathu, veethikalil saththamidukirathu. Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:

21 Athu santhatiyulla therukkalin santhilum, olimukavaasalilum nintu kooppittu, pattanaththil than vaarththaikalai vasaniththuch sollukirathu: She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,

22 Paethaikalae, neengal paethaimaiyai virumpuvathum, ninthanaikkaararae, neengal ninthanaiyil piriyappaduvathum, mathiyeenarae, neengal njaanaththai veraுppathum, ethuvaraikkum irukkum. How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

23 En katinthukolluthalukkuth thirumpungal; itho, en aaviyai ungalukku aruluvaen; en vaarththaikalai ungalukkuth therivippaen. Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

24 Naan kooppittum, neengal kaetkamaattaோm enkireerkal; naan en kaiyai neettiyum kavanikkiravan oruvanum illai. Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

25 En aalosanaiyaiyellaam neengal thalli, en katinthukolluthalai veraுththeerkal. But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

26 Aakaiyaal, naanum ungal aapaththukkaalaththil nakaiththu, neengal payappadungaariyam varumpothu aakatiyampannnuvaen. I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

27 Neengal payappadungaariyam pusalpol varumpothum, aapaththu sooraavalipol ungalukku naeridumpothum, nerukkamum idukkamum ungalmael varumpothum, aakatiyampannnuvaen. When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

28 Appoluthu avarkal ennai Nnokkik kooppiduvaarkal; naan maraுuththaravu kodukkamaattaேn; avarkal athikaalaiyilae ennaith thaeduvaarkal, ennaik kaanamaattarkal. Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

29 Avarkal arivai veraுththaarkal, karththarukkup payappaduthalaith therinthukollaamarponaarkal. For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

30 En aalosanaiyai avarkal virumpavillai; en katinthukolluthalaiyellaam asattaைpannnninaarkal. They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

31 Aakaiyaal avarkal thangal valiyin palanaip pusippaarkal; thangal yosanaikalinaal thirupthiyataivaarkal. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

32 Paethaikalin maaraுpaadu avarkalaik kollum, moodarin nirvisaaram avarkalai alikkum. For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

33 Enakkuch sevikodukkiravan evano, avan vikkinaminti vaasampannnni, aapaththirkup payappadaamal amaithiyaayiruppaan. But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
