1 What advantage then hath the Jew? or what is the profit of circumcision?ଅତଏବ ଯିହୂଦୀମାନଙ୍କଠା ରେ କଣ ଅଧିକ ଅଛି ଯାହା ଅନ୍ୟ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କଠା ରେ ନାହିଁ? ଅସୁନ୍ନତ ହବୋ ରେ କଣ ବିଶଷେ ମୂଲ୍ଯ ଅଛି?

2 Much every way: first of all, that they were intrusted with the oracles of God.ହଁ ଯିହୂଦୀମାନଙ୍କଠା ରେ ଅନକେ କିଛି ବିଶଷେ ବିଷୟ ଅଛି। ସବୁଠାରୁ ମହତ୍ତ୍ବପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ କଥା ଏହି ଯେ, ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ ସର୍ବପ୍ରଥମେ ପରମେଶ୍ବର ତାହାଙ୍କ ଉପଦେଶ ଗୁଡ଼ିକୁ ସମର୍ପିତ କଲେ।

3 For what if some were without faith? shall their want of faith make of none effect the faithfulness of God?ଏହା ସତ୍ଯ ଯେ, କେତକେ ଯିହୂଦୀ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କର ବିଶ୍ବସ୍ତ ନଥିଲେ। କିନ୍ତୁ ସମାନଙ୍କେ ଅବିଶ୍ବସ୍ତତା କ'ଣ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କୁ ନିଜ ପ୍ରତିଜ୍ଞା ରଖିବା ରେ ବାଧା ଦବେ?

4 God forbid: yea, let God be found true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy words, And mightest prevail when thou comest into judgment.କବେେ ନୁହେଁ। ଯଦି ପ୍ରେତ୍ୟକକ ଲୋକ ଅସତ୍ ହୁଅନ୍ତି, ତବେେ ମଧ୍ଯ ପରମେଶ୍ବର ସତ୍ଯ ହାଇେ ରହିବେ। ଶାସ୍ତ୍ର ରେ ଲଖାେ ଅଛି ଯେ:

5 But if our righteousness commendeth the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who visiteth with wrath? (I speak after the manner of men.)ଆମ୍ଭେ ଯେତବେେଳେ ଭୁଲ କରୁ, ସେଥିରୁ ସ୍ପଷ୍ଟ ଭାବରେ ଜଣା ପଡ଼େ ଯେ ପରମେଶ୍ବର ହେଉଛନ୍ତି ଠିକ୍। ସେଥିପାଇଁ ପରମେଶ୍ବର ଯେତବେେଳେ ଆମ୍ଭକୁ ଦଣ୍ଡ ଦିଅନ୍ତି, କଣ ଆମ୍ଭେ କହି ପାରିବା ଯେ, ସେ ଅନ୍ଯାଯୀ? ମୁଁ କେତକେ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ଭାବିବାର ଢ଼ଙ୍ଗ ବିଷୟ ରେ କହୁଛି।

6 God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?ନା! ଯଦି ପରମେଶ୍ବର ଆମ୍ଭକୁ ଦଣ୍ଡ ଦଇେ ପାରିବେ ନାହିଁ, ତା ହେଲେ ସେ ସଂସାରର ବିଚ଼ାର କରି ପାରିବେ ନାହିଁ।

7 But if the truth of God through my lie abounded unto his glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?ଜଣେ ଲୋକ କହି ପରେ, ଯେତବେେଳେ ମୁଁ ମିଛ ତାହା ତା ହେ ପ୍ରକୃତ ରେ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କୁ ଅଧିକତର ମହିମା ପ୍ରଦାନ କରେ, କାରଣ ମାେ ମିଛ, ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ସତ୍ଯକୁ ପ୍ରକାଶ କରେ। ସେଥିପାଇଁ ମାେତେ ପାପୀ ବୋଲି କାହିଁକି ବିଚ଼ାର କରାଗଲା?

8 and why not (as we are slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say), Let us do evil, that good may come? whose condemnation is just.ଏହି ସମାନ କଥା କହିବା ହେଲା, ଆମ୍ଭେ ନିଶ୍ଚୟ ମନ୍ଦକାମ କରିବା, କାରଣ ତା' ଦ୍ବାରା ଭଲ ଆସିବ। ଅନକେ ଲୋକ ଆମ୍ଭକୁ ସମାଲୋଚ଼ନା କରନ୍ତି ଓ ମିଛ ରେ କୁହନ୍ତି ଯେ ଆମ୍ଭେ ସହେି ଶିକ୍ଷା ଦେଉଛୁ। ଯେଉଁମାନେ ଏ ଭଳି କଥା କୁହନ୍ତି ସମାନେେ ଠିକ୍ ନୁହଁନ୍ତି ଓ ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ ଦଣ୍ଡ ଦବୋ ଉଚ଼ିତ।

9 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we before laid to the charge both of Jews and Greeks, that they are all under sin;ସେଥିପାଇଁ ଅନ୍ୟ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କଠାରୁ ଆମ୍ଭେ ଯିହୂଦୀଗଣ କଣ ଭଲ? ନା। ଯିହୂଦୀ ଓ ଅଣଯିହୂଦୀ ସମସ୍ତେ ସମାନ ବୋଲି ଆମ୍ଭେ ଆଗରୁ କହି ସାରିଛୁ। ସମାନେେ ସମସ୍ତେ ନିଜ ନିଜ ପାପ ପାଇଁ ଦୋଷୀ।

10 as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one;ଶାସ୍ତ୍ର ରେ ଏହିପରି ଲଖାେ ଅଛି,

11 There is none that understandeth, There is none that seeketh after God;ବୁଝିବା ଲୋକ ଜଣେ ମଧ୍ଯ ନାହିଁ, ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରକୃତ ରେ ଖାଜେୁଥିବା ଲୋକ ଜଣେ ନାହିଁ।

12 They have all turned aside, they are together become unprofitable; There is none that doeth good, no, not, so much as one:ସମସ୍ତେ ସତ୍ଯ ମାର୍ଗ ଭୁଲି ଯାଇଛନ୍ତି ଓ ସମସ୍ତେ ମୂଲ୍ଯହୀନ ହାଇେ ଯାଇଛନ୍ତି। ସଠାେରେ କହେି ନାହିଁ ୟିଏ ଭଲ କରେ। ଏପରିକି ଜଣେ ମଧ୍ଯ ନୁହେଁ। ଗୀତସଂହିତା 14:1-3

13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; With their tongues they have used deceit: The poison of asps is under their lips:ମଣିଷମାନଙ୍କର ମୁହଁ ଖାେଲା କବର ଭଳି ଅଟେ, ସମାନେେ ମିଛ ପାଇଁ ତାଙ୍କ ଜିହ୍ବାକୁ ବ୍ଯବହାର କରନ୍ତି। ଗୀତସଂହିତା 5:9

14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:ଅଭିଶାପ ଓ କଟୁତା ରେ ସମାନଙ୍କେର କଥା ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ହାଇେଥାଏ। ଗୀତସଂହିତା 10:7

15 Their feet are swift to shed blood; ଲୋକେ ଅନ୍ୟକୁ ଆଘାତ ଓ ହତ୍ଯା କରିବା ପାଇଁ ସର୍ବଦା ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ

16 Destruction and misery are in their ways;ସମାନେେ ବିନାଶ କରିବା ଓ କ୍ଲେଶ ଦବୋ ପାଇଁ ସର୍ବତ୍ର ଯାଆନ୍ତି।

17 And the way of peace have they not known:ଲୋକେ ଶାନ୍ତିର ମାର୍ଗ ଜାଣନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ। ୟିଶାଇୟ 59:7-8

18 There is no fear of God before their eyes. ସମାନଙ୍କେର ଆଖି ରେ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ଭୟ ବା ସମ୍ମାନ ଭାବ ନାହିଁ। ଗୀତସଂହିତା 36:1

19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it speaketh to them that are under the law; that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God:ବ୍ଯବସ୍ଥା ରେ ଯେଉଁ କଥାଗୁଡ଼ିକ କୁହା ଯାଇଛି, ତାହା ବ୍ଯବସ୍ଥାଧିନ ରହିଥିବା ଲୋକଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ପ୍ରୟୋଜନ। ଏହି ବ୍ଯବସ୍ଥାଗୁଡ଼ିକ ସମସ୍ତ ଯିହୂଦୀ ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ଆଳ ଦଖାଇବୋରୁ ଅଟକାଏ ଏବଂ ସମଗ୍ର ସଂସାରର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ନ୍ଯାୟବିଚ଼ାରକୁ ଆଣେ।

20 because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified in his sight; for through the law `cometh' the knowledge of sin.ଏହାର କାରଣ ହେଲା, କୌଣସି ଲୋକ ବ୍ଯବସ୍ଥା ପାଳନ କରିବା ଦ୍ବାରା ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ସହିତ ଧାର୍ମିକ ହୁଏ ନାହିଁ। ବ୍ଯବସ୍ଥା କବଳେ ଆମ୍ଭର ପାପ ବିଷୟ ରେ ଆମ୍ଭକୁ ସାବଧାନ କରାଏ।

21 But now apart from the law a righteousness of God hath been manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;କିନ୍ତୁ ବିନା ବ୍ଯବସ୍ଥା ରେ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଧାର୍ମିକ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କର ଗୋଟିଏ ନୂତନ ମାର୍ଗ ଅଛି। ସେ ଆମ୍ଭକୁ ସହେି ନୂତନ ପଥ ଦଖାଇେ ଦଇେଛନ୍ତି। ଏହି ନୂତନ ପଥ ବିଷୟ ରେ ବ୍ଯବସ୍ଥା ଓ ଭବିଷ୍ଯଦ୍ବକ୍ତା ଆମ୍ଭକୁ କହୁଛନ୍ତି।

22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ unto all them that believe; for there is no distinction;ଯୀଶୁ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କ ଠା ରେ ବିଶ୍ବାସ ଦ୍ବାରା ପରମେଶ୍ବର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଧାର୍ମିକ କରନ୍ତି। ଯୀଶୁ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟଙ୍କଠା ରେ ବିଶାସ ରଖୁଥିବା ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ପରମେଶ୍ବର ଏହା କରନ୍ତି। ସବୁ ଲୋକେ ହେଉଛନ୍ତି ସମାନ।

23 for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;ସମସ୍ତେ ପାପ କରିଛନ୍ତି ଓ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ମହିମା ପାଇବା ରେ ଉଣା ପଡ଼ିଛନ୍ତି।

24 being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ ଦ୍ବାରା ଲୋକେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ଦୃଷ୍ଟି ରେ ଧାର୍ମିକ ହୁଅନ୍ତି। ଏହା ବିନା ମୂଲ୍ଯର ଅନୁଗ୍ରହଦାନ ଅଟେ। ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ମାଧ୍ଯମ ରେ ପାପରୁ ମୁକ୍ତ ହାଇେ ଲୋକେ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ଦୃଷ୍ଟି ରେ ଧାର୍ମିକ ହୁଅନ୍ତି।

25 whom God set forth `to be' a propitiation, through faith, in his blood, to show his righteousness because of the passing over of the sins done aforetime, in the forbearance of God;ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ବିଶ୍ବାସ ଜରିଆ ରେ, ପାପରୁ କ୍ଷମା କରିବା ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ଯ ରେ ପରମେଶ୍ବର ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ ପଥ ଭାବରେ ଦଇେଥିଲେ। ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ରକ୍ତ ବା ମୃତ୍ଯୁ ଦ୍ବାରା ପରମେଶ୍ବର କ୍ଷମା କରନ୍ତି। ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ ଦବୋ ଦ୍ବାରା ଏହା ପ୍ରମାଣିତ କରେ ଯେ ପରମେଶ୍ବର ସର୍ବଦା ନ୍ଯାୟ କରନ୍ତି।

26 for the showing, `I say', of his righteousness at this present season: that he might himself be just, and the justifier of him that hath faith in Jesus.ପୂର୍ବରୁ ପରମେଶ୍ବର ର୍ଧୈୟ୍ଯ ଧରି ରହିଥିବା ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ସମାନଙ୍କେର ପାପ ପାଇଁ ଦଣ୍ଡ ନଦଇେ ଉଚ଼ିତ କାର୍ୟ୍ଯ କରିଥିଲେ। ସେ ନିଜର ଧାର୍ମିକତା ପ୍ରକାଶ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଏବେ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ ପଠାଇଲେ। ପରମେଶ୍ବର ଯେ, ନିଜେ ନ୍ଯାୟବାନ ତାହା ଦଖାଇବୋ ପାଇଁ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କଠା ରେ ବିଶ୍ବାସ ରଖି ଥିବା ଯେ କୌଣସି ଲୋକକୁ ଧାର୍ମିକ କଲେ।

27 Where then is the glorying? It is excluded. By what manner of law? of works? Nay: but by a law of faith.ତା' ହେଲେ ଆମ୍ଭର ଗର୍ବ କରିବାର କିଛି ଅଛି କି? ନା! କାହିଁକି ନୁହେଁ? କାରଣ, ବିଶ୍ବାସର ମାର୍ଗ ଦ୍ବାରା ସମସ୍ତ ପ୍ରକାରର ଗର୍ବ କରିବା ବିଷୟକୁ ବାଦ୍ କରା ଯାଇଛି।

28 We reckon therefore that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.ଏହାର କାରଣ ହେଲା ଜଣେ ଲୋକ ବ୍ଯବସ୍ଥା ପାଳନ କରିବା ଦ୍ବାରା ନୁହେଁ ବରଂ ବିଶ୍ବାସ ଦ୍ବାରା ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ଧାର୍ମିକ ଗଣିତ ହୁଏ। ଏ କଥା ରେ ଆମ୍ଭେ ବିଶ୍ବାସ କରୁ।

29 Or is God `the God' of Jews only? is he not `the God' of Gentiles also? Yea, of Gentiles also:ପରମେଶ୍ବର କବଳେ ଯିହୂଦୀମାନଙ୍କର ପରମେଶ୍ବର ନୁହଁନ୍ତି। ଅଣଯିହୂଦୀମାନଙ୍କର ମଧ୍ଯ ସେ ପରମେଶ୍ବର ଅଟନ୍ତି।

30 if so be that God is one, and he shall justify the circumcision by faith, and the uncircumcision through faith.ପରମେଶ୍ବର ହେଉଛନ୍ତି ମାତ୍ର ଜଣେ, ସେ ଯିହୂଦୀ ମାନଙ୍କୁ ସମାନଙ୍କେ ବିଶ୍ବାସ ଆଧାର ରେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ସହିତ ଧାର୍ମିକ କରିବେ। ଅଣଯିହୂଦୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ମଧ୍ଯ ସମାନଙ୍କେର ବିଶ୍ବାସ ପାଇଁ ସେ ଧାର୍ମିକ କରିବେ।

31 Do we then make the law of none effect through faith? God forbid: nay, we establish the law.ଏଠା ରେ ପ୍ରଶ୍ନ ଉେଠ ଯେ ଆମ୍ଭେ କ'ଣ ବିଶ୍ବାସର ମାର୍ଗ ଅନୁସରଣ କରିବା ଦ୍ବାରା ବ୍ଯବସ୍ଥାକୁ ନଷ୍ଟ କରୁଛୁ କି? ନା! ଏହା ସତ୍ଯ ନୁହେଁ। ବରଂ ବ୍ଯବସ୍ଥା ଆମ୍ଭଠାରୁ ଯାହା ଆଶା କରେ, ତାହା ହବୋ ପାଇଁ ବିଶ୍ବାସ ଆମ୍ଭକୁ ସୁଯୋଗ ପ୍ରଦାନ କରେ।
