ସହେି ସମୟରେ ଯୋହନଙ୍କଠାରୁ ବାପ୍ତିସ୍ମ ନବୋପାଇଁ ଯୀଶୁ ଗାଲିଲୀରୁ ୟର୍ଦ୍ଦନ ନଦୀ କୂଳକୁ ଆସିଲେ।

ତା'ପରେ ଯୋହନ କହିଲେ, ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ କିଏ ବୋଲି ମୁଁ ମଧ୍ଯ ଜାଣି ନଥିଲି। କିନ୍ତୁ ପରମେଶ୍ବର ମାେତେ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଜଳ ରେ ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ଦବୋ ପାଇଁ ପଠଇେଥିଲେ। ଏବଂ ପରମେଶ୍ବର ମାେତେ କହିଥିଲେ, 'ତୁମ୍ଭେ ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମାଙ୍କୁ ଅବତରଣ କରିବା ଓ ଜଣେ ବ୍ଯକ୍ତିଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ସ୍ଥିର ହାଇେ ରହିବା ଦେଖିବ, ସହେି ବ୍ଯକ୍ତି ଯକେି ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମାଙ୍କ ଦ୍ବାରା ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ଦବେେ।

ସହେି ସମୟରେ ଯୀଶୁ ଗାଲିଲୀର ନାଜରିତରୁ ଗୋଟିଏ ସହର ଯୋହନଙ୍କ ପାଖକୁ ଆସିଲେ। ଯୋହନ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ ୟର୍ଦ୍ଦନ ନଦୀ ରେ ବାପ୍ତିସ୍ମ ଦେଲେ।

ଯୋହନ କାରାଗାର ରେ ବନ୍ଦୀ ହବୋ ପୂର୍ବରୁ ସବୁ ଲୋକ ଯୋହନଙ୍କ ଦ୍ବାରା ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ହେଉଥିଲେ। ତା'ପରେ ଯୀଶୁ ମଧ୍ଯ ଆସିଲେ ଓ ତାହାଙ୍କ ଦ୍ବାରା ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ହେଲେ। ଯୀଶୁ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କଲାବାଳେ ଆକାଶ ଖାଲିଗେଲା।
