1 ଇଫ୍ରଯିମ ଲୋକମାନେ ଗିଦ୍ଦିଯୋନ୍ଙ୍କ ସହିତ କୋରଧ ହେଲେ। ସମାନେେ ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନଙ୍କକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଦେଖିବା ମାତ୍ ରେ ପଚାରିଲେ, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ ଏପରି କାହିଁକି ବ୍ଯବହାର କଲ? ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମିଦିଯନୀଯମାନଙ୍କ ବିରକ୍ସ୍ଟଦ୍ଧ ରେ ୟକ୍ସ୍ଟଦ୍ଧକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ୟିବା ପୂର୍ବରକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଆମକକ୍ସ୍ଟ କହିଲ ନାହିଁ କାହିଁକି?
2 କିନ୍ତୁ ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ କହିଲେ, ତକ୍ସ୍ଟମ୍ଭ ତକ୍ସ୍ଟଳନା ରେ ମୁ କଣ ପାଇଛି? ଏହା ସତ୍ଯ ନକ୍ସ୍ଟ ହେଁ କି, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମାରେ ପରିବାର ଅବୀଯସରେ ଯେତେ ଦ୍ରାକ୍ଷାଫଳ ସଂଗ୍ରହ କଲେ ତାଠାରକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଅଧିକ ଦ୍ରାକ୍ଷା ତୁମ୍ଭମାନେେ ଜମି ରେ ଛାଡିଛ?
3 ଠିକ୍ ସହେିପରି, ପରମେଶ୍ବର ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତ ରେ ମିଦିଯନର ଓ ରେବ୍ ଓ ସେବ୍ ଦକ୍ସ୍ଟଇ ନତେୃବର୍ଗଙ୍କକ୍ସ୍ଟ ସମର୍ପଣ କଲେ, କିନ୍ତୁ ମାରେ ସଫଳକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ତକ୍ସ୍ଟମ୍ଭ ସହିତ କିପରି ତକ୍ସ୍ଟଳନା କରିବି? ତେଣୁ ସମାନେେ ଶାନ୍ତ ହାଇଗେଲେ ଏବଂ ସମାନେେ ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନଙ୍କ କଥା ରେ ଶାନ୍ତ ହେଲେ।
4 ଏହାପରେ ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ ଓ ତାଙ୍କର 300 ଲୋକ ୟର୍ଦ୍ଦନ ନଦୀ ପାର ହେଲେ। ସମାନେେ କ୍ଲାନ୍ତ ଓ କ୍ଷକ୍ସ୍ଟଧାର୍ତ୍ତ ଥିଲେ।
5 ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ ସୁକ୍କୋତର ନାଗରିକମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ମାରେ ସୈନ୍ଯମାନଙ୍କୁ କିଛି ଖାଦ୍ୟଦିଅ। ମାରେ ସୈନ୍ଯମାନେ ଅତ୍ଯନ୍ତ କ୍ଲାନ୍ତ। ତଥାପି ମଧ୍ଯ ଆମ୍ଭମାନେେ ମିଦିଯନର ରାଜା ସବହେ ଓ ସଲ୍ମକ୍ସ୍ଟନ୍ନକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଗୋଡାଉଛକ୍ସ୍ଟ।
6 ସୁକ୍କୋତର ନତେୃବର୍ଗମାନେ ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନଙ୍କକ୍ସ୍ଟ କହିଲେ, ସବହେ ଓ ସଲମକ୍ସ୍ଟନ୍ନରଙ୍କକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଏପର୍ୟ୍ଯନ୍ତ ଅକ୍ତିଆର କରି ନାହିଁ? ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭର ସୈନ୍ଯଙ୍କକ୍ସ୍ଟ କାହିଁକି ଖାଦ୍ୟ ଦବେକ୍ସ୍ଟ?
7 ତେଣୁ ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ କହିଲେ, ଏହି କାରଣରକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଯେତବେେଳେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ମାେତେ ସବହେ ଓ ସଲ୍ମୁନ୍ନର ଅକ୍ତିଆର କରିବା ପାଇଁ ସାହାୟ୍ଯ କରନ୍ତି। ମୁ ଏଠାକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଫରେିଆସିବି ଏବଂ ତା'ପରେ ମୁ ତୁମ୍ଭର ମାଂସକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ପ୍ରାନ୍ତର ରେ କାନକୋଳି କଣ୍ଟା ଦ୍ବାରା ଫୋଡିବି।
8 ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ ସହେି ସ୍ଥାନରକ୍ସ୍ଟ ପନୂଯଲକେକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଗଲେ ଓ ସଠାେରେ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ କିଛି ଖାଦ୍ୟ ଦବୋକକ୍ସ୍ଟ କହିଲେ, ସେ ଯେପରି ସେ ସୁକ୍କୋତର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଥିଲେ। କିନ୍ତୁ ଠିକ୍ ପନୂଯଲରେ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ପରି ସୁକ୍କୋତର ଲୋକମାନେ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ।
9 ତେଣୁ ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ ପନୂଯଲରେ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ମୁ କକ୍ସ୍ଟଶଳ ରେ ଫରେି ଆସିଲେ, ତୁମ୍ଭର ଉଚ୍ଚ ପ୍ରାସାଦ ଭାଙ୍ଗିବି।
10 ସହେି ସମୟରେ ସବହେ ଓ ସଲ୍ମକ୍ସ୍ଟନ୍ନ କର୍କୋର ନଗର ରେ ଥିଲେ। ସମାନଙ୍କେ ସହିତ 15,000 ସୈନ୍ଯ ଥିଲେ। ଏହି ସୈନ୍ଯମାନେ, ଯେଉଁମାନେ ପୂର୍ବ ଦେଶୀଯ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କର ସୈନ୍ଯବାହୀନି ରେ ରହିଥିଲେ। 1,20,000 ଜଣ ଶକ୍ତିଶାଳୀ ସୈନ୍ଯ ପୁରାପୁରି ମୃତକ୍ସ୍ଟ୍ଯବରଣ କରିଥିଲେ।
11 ଏହାପରେ ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ ନୋବହ ଓ ୟଗ୍ ବିହର ସହରଗକ୍ସ୍ଟଡିକ ପୂର୍ବ ଦିଗ ରେ ତମ୍ବୁ ନିବାସୀମାନଙ୍କ ପଥଦଇେ ଗଲେ। ସେ କାରକ ନଗର ରେ ପହନ୍ଚିଲେ ଏବଂ ଶତୃ ଛାଉଣୀକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଆକ୍ରମଣ କଲେ। ଯେତବେେଳେ ସମାନେେ ଆକ୍ରମଣକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଆଶା କରିନଥିଲେ।
12 ସବହେ ଓ ସଲମକ୍ସ୍ଟନ୍ନ ମିଦିଯନୀଯମାନଙ୍କର ରାଜା ଦୌଡି ପଳାଇଲେ। କିନ୍ତୁ ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ ଗୋଡଇଲେ ଓ ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ କାବକ୍ସ୍ଟ କଲେ। ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ ଏବଂ ତାଙ୍କର ସୈନ୍ଯମାନେ ଶତୃ ସୈନ୍ଯବାହୀନିକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ପରାସ୍ତ କଲେ।
13 ଏହାପରେ ଯୋୟାଶର ପକ୍ସ୍ଟତ୍ର ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ ଯୁଦ୍ଧରୁ ଫରେି ଆସିଲେ। ସମାନେେ ହରେସହର ଘାଟିଦଇେ ଯୁଦ୍ଧରୁ ଫରେି ଆସିଲେ।
14 ତା'ପରେ ସେ ସୁକ୍କୋତ ସହରର ଜଣେ ୟକ୍ସ୍ଟବକକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଅକ୍ତିଆର କଲେ ଓ ତାକକ୍ସ୍ଟ କେତକେ ପ୍ରଶ୍ନ ପଚାରିଲେ। ସହେି ସୁକ୍କୋତର ୟକ୍ସ୍ଟବକ ସୁକ୍କୋତ ସହରର ସତସ୍ତରି ଜଣ ନତେୃବର୍ଗଙ୍କର ନାମ ଲେଖିଲେ।
15 ଏହାପରେ ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ ସୁକ୍କୋତ୍ ସହରକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଫରେି ଆସିଲେ। ସେ ସହେି ସହରର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ଏହିଠା ରେ ସବହେ ଓ ସଲମକ୍ସ୍ଟନ୍ନ ଅଛନ୍ତି। ତୁମ୍ଭମାନେେ ଏହାକହି ମାେତେ ବିଦ୍ରୁପ କଲ, 'ଆମ୍ଭେ କାହିଁକି ତକ୍ସ୍ଟମ୍ଭ କ୍ଲାନ୍ତ ସୈନିକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଖାଦ୍ୟ ଦବେକ୍ସ୍ଟ? ତୁମ୍ଭମାନେେ ଏପର୍ୟ୍ଯନ୍ତ ସବହେ ଓ ସଲମକ୍ସ୍ଟନ୍ନକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଧରିନାହିଁ।'
16 ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ ସୁକ୍କୋତର ସମସ୍ତ ପ୍ରାଚୀନବର୍ଗମାନଙ୍କୁ ଏକତ୍ରୀତ କଲେ ଓ ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ କାନକୋଳି କଣ୍ଟା ରେ ବାଡଇେଲେ।
17 ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ ପନୂଯଲରେ ଅଟ୍ଟାଳିକା ଭାଙ୍ଗି ପକାଇଲେ ଓ ସହେି ସହର ରେ ବାସ କରୁଥିବା ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ହତ୍ଯା କଲେ।
18 ଏହାପରେ ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ ସବହେ ଓ ସଲ୍ମକ୍ସ୍ଟନ୍ନକକ୍ସ୍ଟ କହିଲେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନେେ ତାବୋର ରେ ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ହତ୍ଯା କଲ ସମାନେେ କିପରି ଲୋକ ଥିଲେ?
19 ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ କହିଲେ, ସମାନେେ ମାରେ ଭାଇ ଥିଲେ। ମାରେ ମା'ର ପକ୍ସ୍ଟତ୍ର! ଯେ ହତେକ୍ସ୍ଟ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଅଛନ୍ତି, ଯଦି ତୁମ୍ଭେ ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ ମାରି ନ ଥାନ୍ତ ତବେେ ମୁ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ମାରି ନଥାନ୍ତି।
20 ଏହାପରେ ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ ଯେଥରକକ୍ସ୍ଟ କହିଲେ, ଯେ କି ତାଙ୍କର ଜେଷ୍ଠ ପକ୍ସ୍ଟତ୍ର ଥିଲା, ଏହି ରାଜାମାନଙ୍କୁ ହତ୍ଯାକର। କିନ୍ତୁ ଯେଥର ଜଣେ ବାଳକ ଥିବାରକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଭୟ କଲେ। ତେଣୁ ସେ ତାଙ୍କର ଖଡ୍ଗ ବାହାର କଲେ ନାହିଁ।
21 ଏହାପରେ ସବହେ ଓ ସଲମନ୍ନ କହିଲେ, ଆସ ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନେେ ନିଜେ ଆମ୍ଭଙ୍କକ୍ସ୍ଟ ହତ୍ଯା କର। ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଜଣେ ଶକ୍ତିଶାଳୀ ମନକ୍ସ୍ଟଷ୍ଯ। ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଏହା କରିପାରିବ। ତେଣୁ ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ ଉଠି ପଡିଲେ ଓ ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ ହତ୍ଯା କଲେ। ସମାନଙ୍କେ ଓଟମାନଙ୍କ ଗଳା ରେ ଥିବା ସମସ୍ତ ଚନ୍ଦ୍ରହାର ସେ କାଢି ନେଲେ।
22 ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ଲୋକମାନେ ଗିଦ୍ଦିଯୋନଙ୍କକ୍ସ୍ଟ କହିଲେ, ଆପଣା ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ମିଦିଯନମାନଙ୍କଠାରକ୍ସ୍ଟ ରକ୍ଷା କରିଛନ୍ତି, ତେଣୁ ଆପଣ ଆମର ଶାସକ ହକ୍ସ୍ଟଅନ୍ତକ୍ସ୍ଟ। ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ତୁମ୍ଭର ସନ୍ତାନମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆମର ଶାସକ ଭାବେ ଗ୍ଭହକ୍ସ୍ଟଁ।
23 କିନ୍ତୁ ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତୁମ୍ଭର ଶାସକ ହବେେ। ମୁ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଶାସନ କରିବି ନାହିଁ। ଏବଂ ମାରେ ପକ୍ସ୍ଟତ୍ରମାନେ ମଧ୍ଯ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଶାସନ କରିବେ ନାହିଁ।
24 ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ମୁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଏହି ନିବଦନେ କରୁଅଛି: ତୁମ୍ଭମାନେେ ୟକ୍ସ୍ଟଦ୍ଧ ରେ ନଇୟୋଇଥିବା ସକ୍ସ୍ଟବର୍ଣ୍ଣ କର୍ଣ୍ଣ କକ୍ସ୍ଟଣ୍ତଳ ମାେତେ ଦଅ। ହାରିଥିବା ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲୀୟଙ୍କର ସକ୍ସ୍ଟବର୍ଣ୍ଣର କର୍ଣ୍ଣ କକ୍ସ୍ଟଣ୍ତଳକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ସମାନେେ ନଇୟୋଇଥିଲେ।
25 ତହିଁରେ ସମାନେେ ଉତ୍ତର କଲେ, ଆମ୍ଭମାନେେ ତାହା ଅବଶ୍ଯ ଦବେକ୍ସ୍ଟ। ପକ୍ସ୍ଟଣି ସମାନେେ ବସ୍ତ୍ର ବିଛାଇ ପ୍ରତ୍ଯକ ତା ମଧିଅରେ ନିଜ ନିଜର ଲକ୍ସ୍ଟଟିତ ନଥ ପକାଇଲେ।
26 ସେଥି ରେ ଚନ୍ଦ୍ରହାର, ଝକ୍ସ୍ଟମକ୍ସ୍ଟକା ଓ ମିଦିଯନୀଯ ରାଜାମାନଙ୍କ ପରିଧଯେ ବାଇଗଣିଆ ରଙ୍ଗର ବସ୍ତ୍ର ଓ ସମାନଙ୍କେର ଓଟର ଗଳାହାର ଛଡା ତାହାର ପ୍ରାର୍ଥୀତ, ସକ୍ସ୍ଟବର୍ଣ୍ଣ ନଗର ପରିମାଣ 1,700 ଶକେଲ ସକ୍ସ୍ଟନା ହେଲା।
27 ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ ଏହିସବୁ ସକ୍ସ୍ଟବର୍ଣ୍ଣ ରେ ଏକ ଏଫୋଦ ତିଆରି କଲେ। ସେ ଏହାକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ସମାନଙ୍କେ ନଗର ଅଫ୍ରା ରେ ରଖିଲେ। ଏବଂ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକମାନେ ସହେି ଏଫୋଦକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଉପାସନା କଲେ। ଏହିପରି ଭାବରେ, ଏଫୋଦକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଉପାସନା କରି ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲବାସୀ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ଅବିଶ୍ବାସି ହେଲେ। ଏହି ଏଫୋଦ ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନଙ୍କ ଓ ତାଙ୍କ ପରିବାର ପ୍ରତି ଏକ ଫାନ୍ଦ ସ୍ବରୂପ ହେଲା, ଯାହାକି ସମାନଙ୍କେର ପାପର କାରଣ ହେଲା।
28 ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲ ଅଧିନ ରେ ରହିବା ପାଇଁ, ମିଦିଯନର ଲୋକମାନେ ବାଧ୍ଯ ହେଲ। ସମାନେେ ଆଉ କିଛି ଅସକ୍ସ୍ଟବିଧା ରେ ପଡିଲେ ନାହିଁ। ତେଣୁ ଗିଦ୍ଦିଯୋନ ବଞ୍ଚିଥିବା ପର୍ୟ୍ଯନ୍ତ ଗ୍ଭଳିଶ ବର୍ଷ ପାଇଁ ଦେଶ ଶାନ୍ତି ରେ ରହିଲା।
29 ଏହାପରେ ଯୋୟାଶର ପକ୍ସ୍ଟତ୍ର ୟିରକ୍ସ୍ଟଦ୍ଦାଲ ୟାଇ ନିଜ ଗୃହ ରେ ବାସ କଲେ।
30 ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନଙ୍କର ନିଜର ସତକ୍ସ୍ଟରିଜଣ ସନ୍ତାନ ଥିଲେ। ତାଙ୍କର ବହକ୍ସ୍ଟତ ସନ୍ତାନ ଥିଲେ କାରଣ ତାଙ୍କର ବହକ୍ସ୍ଟତ ପତ୍ନୀ ଥିଲେ।
31 ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନଙ୍କର ଶିଖିମଠା ରେ ଏକ ଉପପତ୍ନୀ ଥିଲା। ସହେି ଉପପତ୍ନୀର ଏକ ପକ୍ସ୍ଟତ୍ର ଥିଲା ଯାହାର ନାମ ଥିଲା ଅବୀମଲେମ୍।
32 ୟୋଯାଶର ପକ୍ସ୍ଟତ୍ର ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନ ଅତ୍ଯଧିକ ବାର୍ଦ୍ଧକ୍ଯ ରେ ପହଞ୍ଚି ମୃତକ୍ସ୍ଟ୍ଯ ବରଣ କଲେ। ଅବୀଯେଷ୍ରୀଯମାନଙ୍କ ଅଫ୍ରାର ସହର ରେ ତାଙ୍କ ପିତା ଯୋୟାଶର ନିଜର କବର ରେ ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନକକ୍ସ୍ଟ କବର ଦିଆଗଲା।
33 ଗିଦ୍ଦିୟୋନଙ୍କର ମୃତକ୍ସ୍ଟ୍ଯ ପରେ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ଲୋକମାନେ ଆଉ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କର ବିଶ୍ବସ୍ତ ରହିଲେ ନାହିଁ। ସମାନେେ ବାଲ୍ ଦବୋଦବେୀଙ୍କର ଅନକ୍ସ୍ଟଗାମୀ ହେଲେ। ସମାନେେ ସମାନଙ୍କେର ଦବେତା ବାଲ୍ ବାରିକ୍ ନିର୍ମାଣ କଲେ।
34 ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ଲୋକମାନେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ସମାନଙ୍କେର ପରମେଶଓରଙ୍କୁ ଏହା ଭକ୍ସ୍ଟଲିଗଲେ। ଯଦିଓ ସେ ସମାନଙ୍କେର ଗ୍ଭରିପାଖ ରେ ଶତୃମାନଙ୍କଠାରକ୍ସ୍ଟ ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ ରକ୍ଷା କରିଥିଲେ।
35 ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ଲୋକମାନେ ୟିରକ୍ସ୍ଟଦ୍ଦାଲର ପରିବାର ପ୍ରତି ଆନକ୍ସ୍ଟଗତ୍ଯ ରହିଲେ ନାହିଁ। ଯଦିଓ ସମାନଙ୍କେ ପାଇଁ ସବହେକ୍ସ୍ଟତ କାର୍ୟ୍ଯ କରିଥିଲେ।
1 And the men of Ephraim said unto him, Why hast thou served us thus, that thou calledst us not, when thou wentest to fight with the Midianites? And they did chide with him sharply.
2 And he said unto them, What have I done now in comparison of you? Is not the gleaning of the grapes of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abiezer?
3 God hath delivered into your hands the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb: and what was I able to do in comparison of you? Then their anger was abated toward him, when he had said that.
4 And Gideon came to Jordan, and passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, yet pursuing them.
5 And he said unto the men of Succoth, Give, I pray you, loaves of bread unto the people that follow me; for they be faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian.
6 And the princes of Succoth said, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thine army?
7 And Gideon said, Therefore when the Lord hath delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into mine hand, then I will tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers.
8 And he went up thence to Penuel, and spake unto them likewise: and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered him.
9 And he spake also unto the men of Penuel, saying, When I come again in peace, I will break down this tower.
10 Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor, and their hosts with them, about fifteen thousand men, all that were left of all the hosts of the children of the east: for there fell an hundred and twenty thousand men that drew sword.
11 And Gideon went up by the way of them that dwelt in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and smote the host: for the host was secure.
12 And when Zebah and Zalmunna fled, he pursued after them, and took the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and discomfited all the host.
13 And Gideon the son of Joash returned from battle before the sun was up,
14 And caught a young man of the men of Succoth, and inquired of him: and he described unto him the princes of Succoth, and the elders thereof, even threescore and seventeen men.
15 And he came unto the men of Succoth, and said, Behold Zebah and Zalmunna, with whom ye did upbraid me, saying, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thy men that are weary?
16 And he took the elders of the city, and thorns of the wilderness and briers, and with them he taught the men of Succoth.
17 And he beat down the tower of Penuel, and slew the men of the city.
18 Then said he unto Zebah and Zalmunna, What manner of men were they whom ye slew at Tabor? And they answered, As thou art, so were they; each one resembled the children of a king.
19 And he said, They were my brethren, even the sons of my mother: as the Lord liveth, if ye had saved them alive, I would not slay you.
20 And he said unto Jether his firstborn, Up, and slay them. But the youth drew not his sword: for he feared, because he was yet a youth.
21 Then Zebah and Zalmunna said, Rise thou, and fall upon us: for as the man is, so is his strength. And Gideon arose, and slew Zebah and Zalmunna, and took away the ornaments that were on their camels’ necks.
22 Then the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule thou over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son also: for thou hast delivered us from the hand of Midian.
23 And Gideon said unto them, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you: the Lord shall rule over you.
24 And Gideon said unto them, I would desire a request of you, that ye would give me every man the earrings of his prey. (For they had golden earrings, because they were Ishmaelites.)
25 And they answered, We will willingly give them. And they spread a garment, and did cast therein every man the earrings of his prey.
26 And the weight of the golden earrings that he requested was a thousand and seven hundred shekels of gold; beside ornaments, and collars, and purple raiment that was on the kings of Midian, and beside the chains that were about their camels’ necks.
27 And Gideon made an ephod thereof, and put it in his city, even in Ophrah: and all Israel went thither a whoring after it: which thing became a snare unto Gideon, and to his house.
28 Thus was Midian subdued before the children of Israel, so that they lifted up their heads no more. And the country was in quietness forty years in the days of Gideon.
29 And Jerubbaal the son of Joash went and dwelt in his own house.
30 And Gideon had threescore and ten sons of his body begotten: for he had many wives.
31 And his concubine that was in Shechem, she also bare him a son, whose name he called Abimelech.
32 And Gideon the son of Joash died in a good old age, and was buried in the sepulchre of Joash his father, in Ophrah of the Abi-ezrites.
33 And it came to pass, as soon as Gideon was dead, that the children of Israel turned again, and went a whoring after Baalim, and made Baal-berith their god.
34 And the children of Israel remembered not the Lord their God, who had delivered them out of the hands of all their enemies on every side:
35 Neither shewed they kindness to the house of Jerubbaal, namely, Gideon, according to all the goodness which he had shewed unto Israel.

1 ಆತನು ತಿರಿಗಿ ಸಭಾಮಂದಿರದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿದಾಗ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕೈ ಬತ್ತಿದವನಾದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿದ್ದನು.
And he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there which had a withered hand.
2 ಅವರು ಆತನ ಮೇಲೆ ತಪ್ಪು ಹೊರಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಸಬ್ಬತ್ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಆತನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಸ್ವಸ್ಥ ಮಾಡುವನೇನೋ ಎಂದು ಕಾಯು ತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath day; that they might accuse him.
3 ಆತನು ಕೈಬತ್ತಿದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ--ಎದ್ದು ನಿಂತುಕೋ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
And he saith unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth.
4 ಆತನು ಅವರಿಗೆ --ಸಬ್ಬತ್ ದಿವಸಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಳ್ಳೇದನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವದು ನ್ಯಾಯವೋ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವದು ನ್ಯಾಯವೋ? ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸುವದೋ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಕೊಲ್ಲುವದೋ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು; ಆದರೆ ಅವರು ಸುಮ್ಮನಿದ್ದರು.
And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.
5 ಆಗ ಆತನು ಅವರ ಹೃದಯಗಳ ಕಾಠಿಣ್ಯತೆಗಾಗಿ ದುಃಖಪಟ್ಟು ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಕೋಪದಿಂದ ಅವರನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ--ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಚಾಚು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಅವನು ಚಾಚಿದಾಗ ಅವನ ಕೈಗುಣವಾಗಿ ಮತ್ತೊಂದರ ಹಾಗಾಯಿತು.
And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.
6 ಫರಿಸಾ ಯರು ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗಿ ಕೂಡಲೆ ತಾವು ಆತನನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ಕೊಲ್ಲಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆತನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧ ವಾಗಿ ಹೆರೋದ್ಯರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆಲೋಚನೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.
And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.
7 ಆದರೆ ಯೇಸು ತನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಮುದ್ರದ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿದನು; ಆಗ ಗಲಿಲಾಯದಿಂದಲೂ ಯೂದಾಯದಿಂದಲೂ
But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judaea,
8 ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಿಂದಲೂ ಇದೂಮಾಯದಿಂದಲೂ ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ಆಚೆಯಿಂ ದಲೂ ಜನರು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಮೂಹವಾಗಿ ಆತನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದರು. ಆತನು ಮಾಡಿದ ಮಹತ್ಕಾರ್ಯ ಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ತೂರ್ ಸೀದೋನ್ ಸುತ್ತಲಿನ ಜನರು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಮೂಹವಾಗಿ ಆತನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು.
And from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came unto him.
9 ಸಮೂಹವು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ನೂಕದಂತೆ ತನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಒಂದು ಚಿಕ್ಕ ದೋಣಿಯು ಸಿದ್ಧವಿರ ಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆತನು ತನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು.
And he spake to his disciples, that a small ship should wait on him because of the multitude, lest they should throng him.
10 ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಆತನು ಅನೇಕರನ್ನು ಸ್ವಸ್ಥಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ರೋಗಪೀಡಿತರಾಗಿದ್ದವರೆಲ್ಲರು ಆತನನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟಬೇ ಕೆಂದು ಆತನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೀಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had plagues.
11 ಅಶುದ್ಧಾತ್ಮಗಳು ಆತನನ್ನು ಕಂಡಾಗ ಆತನ ಮುಂದೆ ಬಿದ್ದು--ನೀನು ದೇವಕುಮಾರನು ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದವು.
And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.
12 ಆದರೆ ಆತನು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಯಾರಿಗೂ ತಿಳಿಯಪಡಿಸಬಾರದೆಂದು ಅವರಿಗೆ ನೇರವಾಗಿ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
And he straitly charged them that they should not make him known.
13 ತರುವಾಯ ಆತನು ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೋಗಿ ತನಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದವರನ್ನು ಕರೆಯಲು ಅವರು ಆತನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು.
And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him.
14 ಆತನು ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ತನ್ನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಇರುವದಕ್ಕೂ (ಸುವಾರ್ತೆ) ಸಾರುವದ ಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ತಾನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೂ
And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,
15 ವ್ಯಾಧಿ ಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ವಸ್ಥಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕೂ ದೆವ್ವಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸು ವದಕ್ಕೂ ನೇಮಿಸಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:
16 ಆತನು ಸೀಮೋನನಿಗೆ ಪೇತ್ರನೆಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟನು.
And Simon he surnamed Peter;
17 ಮತ್ತು ಜೆಬೆದಾಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯಾಕೋಬ ನಿಗೂ ಯಾಕೋಬನ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಯೋಹಾನ ನಿಗೂ ಬೊವನೆರ್ಗೆಸ್ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟನು ಅಂದರೆ ಗುಡುಗಿನ ಪುತ್ರರು ಎಂದರ್ಥ.
And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder:
18 ಮತ್ತು ಅಂದ್ರೆಯ, ಫಿಲಿಪ್ಪ, ಬಾರ್ತೂಲೊಮಾಯ, ಮತ್ತಾಯ, ತೋಮ, ಅಲ್ಫಾಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯಾಕೋಬ, ತದ್ದಾಯ, ಕಾನಾನ್ಯನಾದ ಸೀಮೋನ,
And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Canaanite,
19 ಆತನನ್ನು ಹಿಡು ಕೊಡಲಿಕ್ಕಿದ್ದ ಯೂದ ಇಸ್ಕರಿ ಯೋತ್ ಎಂಬವರೇ. ಮತ್ತು ಅವರು ಒಂದು ಮನೆಯೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದರು.
And Judas Iscariot, which also betrayed him: and they went into an house.
20 ಜನಸಮೂಹವು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ತಿರಿಗಿ ಕೂಡಿಬಂದದ್ದ ರಿಂದ ಅವರು ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ತಿನ್ನುವದಕ್ಕೂ ಆಗದೆ ಹೋಯಿತು.
And the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.
21 ಆತನ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ದಾಗ ಆತನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯುವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟರು. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅವರು--ಈತನಿಗೆ ಹುಚ್ಚು ಹಿಡಿದದೆ ಎಂದು ಅಂದರು.
And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.
22 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿ ನಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಿಗಳು--ಇವನನ್ನು ಬೆಲ್ಜೆಬೂಲನು ಹಿಡಿದಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಇವನು ದೆವ್ವಗಳ ಅಧಿಪತಿಯಿಂದ ದೆವ್ವಗಳನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ ಅಂದರು.
And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.
23 ಆತನು ಅವರನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಹತ್ತಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದು ಸಾಮ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ--ಸೈತಾನನು ಸೈತಾನನನ್ನು ಹೊರಗೆ ಹಾಕು ವದು ಹೇಗೆ?
And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?
24 ಒಂದು ರಾಜ್ಯವು ತನ್ನಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ವಿಭಾಗಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟರೆ ಆ ರಾಜ್ಯವು ನಿಲ್ಲಲಾರದು.
And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
25 ಇದ ಲ್ಲದೆ ಒಂದು ಮನೆಯು ತನ್ನಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ವಿಭಾಗಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟರೆ ಆ ಮನೆಯು ನಿಲ್ಲಲಾರದು.
And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
26 ಸೈತಾನನು ತನಗೆ ತಾನೇ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಎದ್ದು ವಿಭಾಗಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟರೆ ಅವನು ನಿಲ್ಲಲಾರದೆ ಅಂತ್ಯಗೊಳ್ಳುವನು.
And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
27 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಮೊದಲು ಬಲಿಷ್ಠನನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟದ ಹೊರತು ಅವನ ಮನೆಯೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿ ಅವನ ಸೊತ್ತನ್ನು ಸುಲುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾರನು; ಕಟ್ಟಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವನ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಸುಲುಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು ಅಂದನು.
No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.
28 ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ನಿಜವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ--ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪಾಪಗಳೂ ದೇವದೂಷಣೆಗಳೂ ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಪುತ್ರರಿಗೆ ಕ್ಷಮಿಸಲ್ಪ ಡುವವು;
Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
29 ಆದರೆ ಯಾವನು ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ದೂಷಣೆ ಮಾಡುವನೋ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಕ್ಷಮಾಪಣೆ ಇಲ್ಲ; ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ನಿತ್ಯವಾದ ದಂಡನೆಯ ಅಪಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಗಾಗುವನು ಅಂದನು.
But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:
30 ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅವರು--ಇವನಿಗೆ ಅಶುದ್ಧಾತ್ಮವಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.
31 ತರುವಾಯ ಆತನ ಸಹೋದರರೂ ತಾಯಿಯೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಹೊರಗೆ ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡು ಆತನನ್ನು ಕರೇಕಳುಹಿಸಿದರು.
There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him.
32 ಜನಸಮೂಹವು ಆತನ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಕೂತುಕೊಂಡು ಆತನಿಗೆ--ಇಗೋ, ಹೊರಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರೂ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.
33 ಆತನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನನ್ನ ತಾಯಿ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರು ಯಾರು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ
And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?
34 ತನ್ನ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಕೂತಿದ್ದವರನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ--ಇಗೋ, ನನ್ನ ತಾಯಿ ಮತ್ತು ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರು!
And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
35 ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಯಾವನು ದೇವರ ಚಿತ್ತದಂತೆ ಮಾಡುವನೋ ಅವನೇ ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನೂ ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರಿಯೂ ನನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಅಂದನು.
For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.
