ଏହା ପରେ ରାଜା ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ ଅତି କର୍କଶ ଭାବେ କଥା କହିଲେ। ରାଜା ରିହବିଯାମ୍ ବୃଦ୍ଧ ବ୍ଯକ୍ତିମାନଙ୍କର ଉପଦେଶକୁ ଗ୍ରହଣ କରି ନ ଥିଲେ।

ଆସନ୍ତାକାଲି ପ୍ରାଯ ଏହି ସମୟରେ ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭ ନିକଟକୁ ମାରେ ଦାସମାନଙ୍କୁ ପଠାଇବି, ସମାନେେ ତୁମ୍ଭର ଗୃହ ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭ ଅଧିକାରୀମାନଙ୍କର ଗୃହ ଅନୁସନ୍ଧାନ କରିବେ। ଯାହା କିଛି ମୂଲ୍ଯବାନ ଜିନିଷ ପାଇବେ ସମାନେେ ନଇେଯିବେ।'

କିନ୍ତୁ ରିହବିଯାମ୍ ବୃଦ୍ଧ ଲୋକମାନେ ଦଇେଥିବା ଉପଦେଶକୁ ଗ୍ରହଣ କଲେ ନାହିଁ। ରିହବିଯାମ୍ ତାଙ୍କ ସଙ୍ଗେ ଏକତ୍ର ବଢ଼ିଥିବା ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ସବୋ କରୁଥିବା ୟୁବା ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ କଥା ହେଲେ।
