ଗାଥ ନିବାସୀ ଗଲିଯାତ ନାମକ ଏକ ମଲ୍ଲ ଯୋଦ୍ଧା ପଲେଷ୍ଟୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ଛାଉଣୀରକ୍ସ୍ଟ ବାହାର ହେଲା, ସେ ସାଢେ ଛଅ ହାତ ଉଚ୍ଚ।

ସେ ସମାନଙ୍କେ ସଙ୍ଗେ କଥାବାର୍ତ୍ତା କରୁଥିବା ସମୟରେ ଗାଥନିବାସୀ ପଲେଷ୍ଟୀୟ ଗଲିଯାତ ନାମକ ମଲ୍ଲ ଯୋଦ୍ଧା ପଲେଷ୍ଟୀୟ ସୈନ୍ଯବାହୀନି ମଧ୍ଯରକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଉଠି ଆସି ପୂର୍ବପରି ପାଟିକଲା। ଦାଉଦ ତାହା ଶୁଣିଲେ।

ଦାଉଦ ଅହୀମଲକେକକ୍ସ୍ଟ କହିଲେ, ଏଠା ରେ ତକ୍ସ୍ଟମ୍ଭ ହାତ ରେ ଖଣ୍ତା କିମ୍ବା ବର୍ଚ୍ଛା ନାହିଁତ? ମୁ ଆପଣା ଖଡ୍ଗ ବା ଅସ୍ତ୍ରଶସ୍ତ୍ର ସାଥି ରେ ଆଣି ନାହିଁ। ଯେଣକ୍ସ୍ଟ ରାଜାଙ୍କ ଅଭିୟାନ ଶିଘ୍ର କରିବାକୁ ପଡିବ।

ଲୋକମାନେ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କକ୍ସ୍ଟ କହିଲେ, ଦାଉଦ ଗାଥକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ପଳାଇ ଅଛି। ଏକଥା ଜାଣିବା ପରେ ସେ ଆଉ ତାଙ୍କର ଅନେଷ୍ବଣ କଲେ ନାହିଁ।

ବନାଯ ଜଣେ ଅତିକାଯ ମିସ୍ରୀଯ ସୈନ୍ଯକୁ ବଧ କଲେ। ସହେି ବ୍ଯକ୍ତି ପାଞ୍ଚ ହାତ ଦୀର୍ଘ ଉଚ୍ଚ ଥିଲା। ସହେି ମିସ୍ରୀଯ ନିକଟରେ ଏକ ବଡ଼ ଓ ଓଜନିଆ ବର୍ଚ୍ଛା ଥିଲା। ତାହା ଏକ ବୁଣାକାରର ତନ୍ତର ଦଣ୍ଡପରି ବିରାଟ ଥିଲା। ବନାଯ ନିକଟରେ କବଳେ ଠେଙ୍ଗାଟିଏ ଥିଲା। ବନାଯ ସହେି ମିସ୍ରୀଯ ବ୍ଯକ୍ତିର ହସ୍ତରୁ ବର୍ଚ୍ଛା ଧରି ଛଡ଼ଇେ ନେଲେ। ଏହାପରେ ବନାଯ ସହେି ମିସ୍ରୀଯକୁ ତାହାର ନିଜ ବର୍ଚ୍ଛା ଦ୍ବାରା ବିଦ୍ଧ କରି ହତ୍ଯା କଲେ।
1 Chronicles 20:4
ଏହାପରେ ଗଷେର ସହର ରେ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲୀୟମାନେ ପଲେଷ୍ଟୀୟ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ସହିତ ୟୁଦ୍ଧ କଲେ। ସହେି ସମୟରେ ହଶାତୀଯ ସିଦ୍ଦଖଯ ସିପ୍ପଯକୁ ବଧ କଲେ। ଏହି ସିପ୍ପଯ ଦୈତ୍ଯପୁତ୍ରମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ଯରୁ ଜଣେ ଥିଲା। ତେଣୁ ପଲେଷ୍ଟୀୟ ଲୋକମାନେ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲୀୟମାନଙ୍କର କ୍ରୀତଦାସ ତୁଲ୍ଯ ହାଇଗେଲେ।
Amos 2:9
କିନ୍ତୁ ଆମ୍ଭେ ୟିଏକି ଜଣେ ଥିଲୁ, ଇ ମାରେୀଯକୁ ସମାନଙ୍କେ ସମ୍ମୁଖ ରେ ଧ୍ବଂସ କଲୁ। ଇ ମାରେୀଯ ଏରସ ବୃକ୍ଷ ସଦୃଶ ଉଚ୍ଚ ଓ ଆଲୋକ ଗଛ ସଦୃଶ ଶକ୍ତ ଥିଲା। ଆମ୍ଭେ ସମାନଙ୍କେର ଉର୍ଦ୍ଦ୍ବ ଭାଗ ରେ ଥିବା ଫଳ ଓ ନିମ୍ନ ଭାଗ ରେ ଥିବା ମୂଳକୁ ନଷ୍ଟ କଲୁ।
