1 Now Jehoram the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria in the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned twelve years.ଆହାବ୍ଙ୍କ ଅନ୍ତେ ତାଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର ୟିହୋରାମ ଶମରିଯା ରେ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲ ଉପରେ ରାଜତ୍ବ କଲେ। ସେ ଯିହୁଦାର ରାଜା ୟିହୋଶାଫଟଙ୍କର ଅଷ୍ଟାଦଶ ବର୍ଷ ରାଜତ୍ବ କାଳ ରେ ରାଜା ହେଲେ ଓ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲ ରେ ବାରବର୍ଷ ରାଜ୍ଯ କଲେ।

2 He did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, but not like his father, and like his mother; for he put away the pillar of Baal that his father had made.ସେ ଏପରି କୁକର୍ମ କଲେ, ଯାହା ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଦୃଷ୍ଟି ରେ ମନ୍ଦକାର୍ୟ୍ଯ ଥିଲା। ମାତ୍ର ସେ ତାଙ୍କର ପିତା ଓ ମାତାଙ୍କ ତୁଲ୍ଯ ନଥିଲେ। କାରଣ ତାଙ୍କ ପିତା ନିର୍ମାଣ କରିଥିବା ବାଲ୍ର ସ୍ତମ୍ଭଗୁଡିକୁ ଦୂର କରି ଦେଲେ।

3 Nevertheless he cleaved to the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin; he didn't depart from it.ତଥାପି ନବାଟ୍ଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର ୟାରବିଯାମ ଦ୍ବାରା ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲଯମାନଙ୍କୁ ଯେଉଁ ପାପରେ ଆସକ୍ତ କରାଇଥିଲେ ସେ ମଧ୍ଯ ସହେି ପାପଗୁଡିକୁ ଆସକ୍ତି ହେଲେ। ୟାରବିଯାମ ଏହି ପାପଗୁଡିକୁ ବନ୍ଦ କଲେ ନାହିଁ।

4 Now Mesha king of Moab was a sheep-master; and he rendered to the king of Israel the wool of one hundred thousand lambs, and of one hundred thousand rams.ମାୟୋବର ରାଜା ମାଶାେ ମଷୋଧିକାରୀ ଥିଲେ। ସେ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ରାଜାଙ୍କୁ କରରୂପେ 1,00,000 ମଷେବତ୍ସର ଓ 1,00,000 ମଷେର ଲୋମ ପ୍ରତିବର୍ଷ ଦେଉଥିଲେ।

5 But it happened, when Ahab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.ମାତ୍ର ଆହାବ୍ଙ୍କ ମୃତ୍ଯୁପରେ ମାୟୋବର ରାଜା ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ରାଜାଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧାଚରଣ କଲେ।

6 King Jehoram went out of Samaria at that time, and mustered all Israel.ସେତବେେଳେ ରାଜା ଯିହାରୋମ୍ ଶମରିଯାରୁ ୟାଇ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ଏକତ୍ର କଲେ।

7 He went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, The king of Moab has rebelled against me: will you go with me against Moab to battle? He said, I will go up: I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.ତତ୍ପରେ ଯିହାରୋମ୍ ଯିହୁଦାର ରାଜା ଯିହାଶାଫେଟ୍ଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଦୂତ ପଠାଇ କହିଲେ, ମାୟୋବର ରାଜା ମାେ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧ ରେ େଦ୍ରାହାଚରଣ କରିଛି, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମାେ ସହିତ ୟୁଦ୍ଧ କରିବାକୁ ମାୟୋବ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧ ରେ ୟିବ କି?

8 He said, Which way shall we go up? He answered, The way of the wilderness of Edom.ୟିହୋରାମଙ୍କୁ ଯିହାଶାଫେଟ୍ ପଚାରିଲେ, ଆମ୍ଭମାନେେ କେଉଁ ପଥରେ ୟିବା?

9 So the king of Israel went, and the king of Judah, and the king of Edom; and they made a circuit of seven days' journey: and there was no water for the host, nor for the animals that followed them.ତହୁଁ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ରାଜା ଯିହୁଦାର ରାଜା ଓ ଇଦୋମର ରାଜା ଏକତ୍ର ସାତଦିନ ଧରି ୟାତ୍ରା କଲେ। ସମାନଙ୍କେର ସୈନ୍ଯମାନଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ଓ ପଶୁମାନଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ କୌଣସି ଜଳ ନଥିଲା।

10 The king of Israel said, Alas! for Yahweh has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.ଶଷେ ରେ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ରାଜା ଯିହାରୋମ୍ କହିଲେ, ହାୟ, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ମାୟୋବ ହସ୍ତ ରେ ସମର୍ପଣ କରିବାକୁ ଆମ୍ଭ ତିନିଜଣଙ୍କୁ ଏକତ୍ର ଡାକିଛନ୍ତି।

11 But Jehoshaphat said, Isn't there here a prophet of Yahweh, that we may inquire of Yahweh by him? One of the king of Israel's servants answered, Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.ମାତ୍ର ଯିହାଶାଫେଟ୍ କହିଲେ, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କର ଏପରି କହେି ଭବିଷ୍ଯଦ୍ବକ୍ତା କ'ଣ ଏଠା ରେ ନାହାଁନ୍ତି ଯାହାଙ୍କୁ ଦଇେ ଆମ୍ଭେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କର ଅନୁସନ୍ଧାନ କରିପାରୁ?

12 Jehoshaphat said, The word of Yahweh is with him. So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.ତହୁଁ ଯିହାଶାଫେଟ୍ କହିଲେ, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ବାକ୍ଯ ତାଙ୍କ ପାଖ ରେ ଅଛି।

13 Elisha said to the king of Israel, What have I to do with you? get you to the prophets of your father, and to the prophets of your mother. The king of Israel said to him, No; for Yahweh has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.ଏଥି ରେ ଇଲୀଶାୟ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ରାଜା ଯିହାରୋମ୍ଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ମାେ ପାଖ ରେ ତୁମ୍ଭର କି କାମ ଅଛି? ତୁମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭର ପିତା ମାତାଙ୍କର ଭବିଷ୍ଯଦ୍ବକ୍ତାଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ୟାଅ।

14 Elisha said, As Yahweh of Hosts lives, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward you, nor see you.ପୁଣି ଇଲୀଶାୟ କହିଲେ, ମୁଁ ଯିହୁଦାର ରାଜା ଯିହାଶାଫେଟ୍ଙ୍କୁ ସମ୍ମାନ କରେ ଓ ମୁଁ, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ସର୍ବଶକ୍ତିମଯଙ୍କର ସବୋ କରେ। ମୁଁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଜୀବିତ ପ୍ରମାଣେ ପ୍ରତିଜ୍ଞା କରୁଛି, କବଳେ ୟିହୋଶାଫଟ୍ଙ୍କ ସକାେଶ ମୁଁ ଏଠାକୁ ଆସିଲି। ଯଦି ଯିହାଶାଫେଟ୍ ଏଠି ନଥାନ୍ତେ ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଅବଜ୍ଞା କରିଥାନ୍ତି। ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭ ଆଡେ ସମ୍ପୁର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଦୃଷ୍ଟି ପକାଇ ନଥାନ୍ତି।

15 But now bring me a minstrel. It happened, when the minstrel played, that the hand of Yahweh came on him.ତଥାପି ଜଣେ ବୀଣାବାଦକକୁ ଆଣ।

16 He said, Thus says Yahweh, Make this valley full of trenches.ତା'ପରେ ଇଲୀଶାୟ କହିଲେ, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଏହି କଥା କହନ୍ତି, ଏହି ଉପତ୍ୟକା ରେ ଗାତମାନ ଖୋଳ।

17 For thus says Yahweh, You shall not see wind, neither shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, and you shall drink, both you and your cattle and your animals.ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଏହା ମଧ୍ଯ କହନ୍ତି, ତୁମ୍ଭମାନେେ ବାଯୁ ଦେଖିବ ନାହିଁ କି ବୃଷ୍ଟି ଦେଖିବ ନାହିଁ, ମାତ୍ର ଉପତ୍ୟକାଟି ଜଳ ରେ ପରିପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ହବେ। ତବେେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନେେ ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ସମସ୍ତ ଗୋମଷୋଦି ପଶୁମାନେ ଜଳପାନ କରିବେ।

18 This is but a light thing in the sight of Yahweh: he will also deliver the Moabites into your hand.ଏହି କାର୍ୟ୍ଯ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ କରିବା ଅତି ସହଜ। ସେ ମଧ୍ଯ ମାୟୋବୀଯମାନଙ୍କୁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତ ରେ ପରାସ୍ତ କରାଇବେ।

19 You shall strike every fortified city, and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all springs of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.ତୁମ୍ଭମାନେେ ପ୍ରେତ୍ୟକକ ପାଚୀର ବେଷ୍ଟିତ ସୁଦୃଢ ଓ ଉତ୍ତମ ନଗରଗୁଡିକୁ ଧ୍ବଂସ କରିବ। ପ୍ରେତ୍ୟକକ ଉତ୍ତମ ବୃକ୍ଷଗୁଡିକୁ କାଟି ପକାଇବ। ନିର୍ଝରଗୁଡିକର ଜଳକୁ ଅଟକାଇ ଓ ପ୍ରେତ୍ୟକକ ଉତ୍ତମ ଭୂମି ଖଣ୍ତକୁ ପଥର ଫୋପାଡି ବିନାଶ କରିବ।

20 It happened in the morning, about the time of offering the offering, that behold, there came water by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.ଏହାପରେ ପ୍ରାତଃକାଳୀନ ବଳିଦାନ ଉତ୍ସର୍ଗ କରିବା ସମୟରେ ଇଦୋମର ପଥ ଦଇେ ଜଳ ଆସିଲା ଏବଂ ଉପତ୍ୟକାକୁ ଜଳପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ କଲା।

21 Now when all the Moabites heard that the kings had come up to fight against them, they gathered themselves together, all who were able to put on armor, and upward, and stood on the border.ମାଯାେବୀଯମାନେ ଶୁଣିଲେ ଯେ ରାଜାମାନେ ସମାନଙ୍କେ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧ ରେ ୟୁଦ୍ଧ କରିବାକୁ ଆସିଛନ୍ତି। ତେଣୁ ସମାନେେ ସମସ୍ତେ ଏପରିକି ଅତ୍ଯଧିକ ବୃଦ୍ଧମାନେ ମଧ୍ଯ ସାଞ୍ଜୁ ପରିଧାନ କରି ଏକତ୍ରିତ ହେଲେ ଓ ୟୁଦ୍ଧ ପାଇଁ ସୀମାନ୍ତ ରେ ଅପେକ୍ଷା କରି ରହିଲେ।

22 They rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone on the water, and the Moabites saw the water over against them as red as blood:ମାୟୋବୀଯମାନେ ପ୍ରଭାତ ରେ ଉଠିଲା ବେଳେ ସହେି ସମୟରେ ସୂର୍ୟ୍ଯ ଜଳ ଉପରେ ଚମୁକୁ ଥିଲା। ସମାନେେ ଏହାକୁ ସମାନଙ୍କେର ରକ୍ତ ତୁଲ୍ଯ ରଙ୍ଗପରି ଦେଖିଲେ।

23 and they said, This is blood; the kings are surely destroyed, and they have struck each man his fellow: now therefore, Moab, to the spoil.ମାଯାେବୀଯମାନେ କହିଲେ, ରକ୍ତକୁ ଦେଖ, ରାଜାମାନେ ପରସ୍ପର ମଧିଅରେ ବୁଦ୍ଧ କରି ବିନଷ୍ଟ ହାଇେଛନ୍ତି। ସମାନେେ ପରସ୍ପର ମଧିଅରେ ୟୁଦ୍ଧକରି ସମାନଙ୍କେର ଯୋଦ୍ଧାମାନଙ୍କୁ ବଧ କରିଛନ୍ତି। ଗ୍ଭଲ ଏବଂ ସହେି ମୃତ ଶରୀରରୁ ମୂଲ୍ଯବାନ ଜିନିଷମାନ ଲୁଟିବା।

24 When they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and struck the Moabites, so that they fled before them; and they went forward into the land smiting the Moabites.ଯେତବେେଳେ ମାୟୋବୀଯମାନେ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ଶିବିର ରେ ପହନ୍ଚିଲେ, ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲୀୟମାନେ ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ ଆକ୍ରମଣ କଲେ। ସମାନେେ ୟୁଦ୍ଧ ଭୂମିରୁ ପଳାଯନ କଲେ। ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲୀୟ ଲୋକମାନେ ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ ଘଉଡାଇ ଦଇେ ମାୟୋବ ଭିତରୁ ପ୍ରବେଶ କଲେ।

25 They beat down the cities; and on every good piece of land they cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the springs of water, and felled all the good trees, until in Kir Hareseth [only] they left the stones of it; however the men armed with slings went about it, and struck it.ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ସନୋ ନଗରଟିକୁ ଧ୍ବଂସ କରି ଦେଲେ। ପ୍ରେତ୍ୟକକ ଉତ୍ତମ ଭୂମିଖଣ୍ତ ରେ ପ୍ରସ୍ତରଦ୍ବାରା ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ କଲେ। ସମାନେେ ଜଳ ନିର୍ଝରଗୁଡିକୁ ବୁଜି ଦେଲେ। ଉତ୍ତମ ବୃକ୍ଷଗୁଡିକୁ କାଟି ପକାଇଲେ, ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲୀୟମାନେ କୀର୍ ହରେସରୁର ସମସ୍ତ ପଥରେ ୟୁଦ୍ଧ କଲେ। ସମାନେେ ଏହାର ଚତୁର୍ଦ୍ଦିଗ ରେ ଘରେିଗଲେ ଓ ଏହା ଉପରେ ମଧ୍ଯ ଆକ୍ରମଣ କଲେ।

26 When the king of Moab saw that the battle was too severe for him, he took with him seven hundred men who drew sword, to break through to the king of Edom; but they could not.ପୁଣି ମାଯାେବର ରାଜା ଦେଖିଲେ ଯେ ୟୁଦ୍ଧ ତାଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ଅତି ଅସହ୍ଯ ହେଲା। ତେଣୁ ସେ ନିଷ୍ପତ୍ତି କଲେ, ଇଦୋମର ରାଜାଙ୍କୁ ହତ୍ଯାକରି ସମାନଙ୍କେ ଦ୍ବାରା ଭଙ୍ଗାୟିବା, ସେ ତାଙ୍କର 700 ଖଡ୍ଗଧାରୀ ସୈନ୍ଯ ସହିତ ଏହା କରିବାକୁ ଚେଷ୍ଟା କଲେ। କିନ୍ତୁ ସେ ତାହା ଭାଙ୍ଗିପାରିଲେ ନାହିଁ।

27 Then he took his eldest son who would have reigned in his place, and offered him for a burnt offering on the wall. There was great wrath against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.ତହୁଁ ସେ ଆପଣାର ଉତ୍ତରାଧିକାରୀ ଜେଷ୍ଠପୁତ୍ରଙ୍କୁ ନଇେ ପ୍ରାଚୀର ଉପରେ ହାମବେଳି ରୂପେ ଉତ୍ସର୍ଗ କଲେ। ୟିଏକି ପରବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ରାଜା ହାଇେଥାନ୍ତେ, ତାଙ୍କୁ ନଇେ ପ୍ରାଚୀର ଉପରେ ହାମବେଳି ରୂପେ ଉତ୍ସର୍ଗ କଲେ। ଏଥି ରେ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କର ବିପର୍ୟ୍ଯସ୍ତ ବଢିଲା। ତେଣୁ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲୀୟମାନେ ମାୟୋବ ପରିତ୍ଯାଗ କରି ନିଜ ଦେଶକୁ ପ୍ରସ୍ଥାନ କଲେ।
