अश्शूरका राजा शल्मनेसेर सामरियाको विरोधमा युद्ध गर्न गए। उनको सैनिकले शहरलाई घेरे यो घटना यहूदाका राजा हिजकियाहको शासन कालको चौथो वर्षमा भयो। एलाका छोरा होशे इस्राएलका राजा भएको सातौ वर्ष पनि थियो।
