Proverbs 18 - YLT (Nepali)

1 For `an object of' desire he who is separated doth seek, With all wisdom he intermeddleth.एक्ले बस्ने मानिसले उसका आफ्नै स्वार्थी इच्छाहरू पूरा गर्न खोज्छ। उसले विवेकपूर्ण सल्लाहलाई गिल्ला गर्छ।

2 A fool delighteth not in understanding, But -- in uncovering his heart.मूर्ख मानिसले अर्काको अर्ति सुन्न रूचाउँदैन। त्यस्तो मानिसले उसको आफ्नै मात्र विचार व्यक्त गर्न चहान्छ।

3 With the coming of the wicked come also hath contempt, And with shame -- reproach.जब दुष्टता आउँछ, तब घृणा पनि आउँछ, अनि अपमानसित बदनाम आउँछ।

4 Deep waters `are' the words of a man's mouth, The fountain of wisdom `is' a flowing brook.मानिसका बचनहरू गहिरो पानी झैं हुन्, ज्ञानको स्रोत एउटा बेग्ले बग्ने झरना झैं हो।

5 Acceptance of the face of the wicked `is' not good, To turn aside the righteous in judgment.एकजना दोषी मानिसको पक्ष लिएर निर्दोष मानिसलाई अन्याय गर्नु अत्यन्तै अनुचित हो।

6 The lips of a fool enter into strife, And his mouth for stripes calleth.मूर्खहरूको ओंठहरूले बहस ल्याउँछ उसको मुखले थप्पड खोज्छ।

7 The mouth of a fool `is' ruin to him, And his lips `are' the snare of his soul.मूर्खको मुखले उस माथि विपत्ति ल्याउँछ, उसको ओठहरू एउटा पासो जस्तै हो उसको आफ्नै जीवनलाई समात्छ।

8 The words of a tale-bearer `are' as self-inflicted wounds, And they have gone down `to' the inner parts of the heart.मानिसहरू सधैं बदनाम गराउने झूटा कुराहरूले बहकाउने मानसिको मुखबाट सुन्न मन पराउँछन, अनि त्यस्ता कुराहरू मीठो भोजन झैं पेट भित्र जान्छन्।

9 He also that is remiss in his work, A brother he `is' to a destroyer.यो निश्चय हो कि जसले आफ्नो काम अल्छी गरि गर्छ, त्यो सर्वनाश गर्नेको भाइ जत्ति कै हो।

10 A tower of strength `is' the name of Jehovah, Into it the righteous runneth, and is set on high.परमप्रभुको नाम एउटा दृढ किल्ला झैं हो, धर्मीहरू यसभित्र कुद्छन् र सुरक्षित रहन्छन्।

11 The wealth of the rich `is' the city of his strength, And as a wall set on high in his own imagination.एकजना धनी मानिसको सम्पत्ति उसको निम्ति बलियो किल्ला झैं हो, उसले यसलाई अग्लो पर्खाल जस्तो सम्झिन्छ।

12 Before destruction the heart of man is high, And before honour `is' humility.मानिसको पतन हुनु अघि उसको मनमा अहंकार आउँछ तर नम्रता आदरको अघि आउँछ।

13 Whoso is answering a matter before he heareth, Folly it is to him and shame.जसले कुरा सुन्न अघि उत्तर दिन्छ ऊ झमेला गराउँने मूर्ख हो।

14 The spirit of a man sustaineth his sickness, And a smitten spirit who doth bear?जब मानिस बिमारी हुन्छ उसको आत्माले उसलाई बीमार सहने शक्ति दिन्छ, तर चोट लगेको आत्मालाई कसले सहन सक्छ?

15 The heart of the intelligent getteth knowledge, And the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.एकजना विवेकशीलले मानिसले सधैं केही चीज सिक्न चाहँन्छ। एउटा ज्ञानी मानिसले ज्ञान लिन ध्यान दिएर सुन्छ।

16 The gift of a man maketh room for him, And before the great it leadeth him.उपहारले एकजना मानिसको निम्ति ढोका उर्घाछ, अनि त्यो मानिस महापुरूषहरूको सामुन्ने पुग्न सक्छ।

17 Righteous `is' the first in his own cause, His neighbour cometh and hath searched him.आफ्नो मुद्दाको बारेमा बोल्ने पहिलो मानिस, अर्को मानिसबाट केरकार नहुञ्जेलसम्म सही जस्तो लाग्छ।

18 The lot causeth contentions to cease, And between the mighty it separateth.गोला हालेर झगडा मोटिन्छ अनि शक्तिशाली प्रति-द्वन्द्विहरूलाई छुट्टाइन्छ।

19 A brother transgressed against is as a strong city, And contentions as the bar of a palace.यदि साथीलाई अपमान गरेर उसलाई मनाउनु एउटा बलियो पर्खालले घेरिएको शहरलाई कब्जा गर्नु भन्दा गाह्रो पर्छ।

20 From the fruit of a man's mouth is his belly satisfied, `From the' increase of his lips he is satisfied.आफ्नो मुखको फलले मानिसले पेट भर्छ, जे उसको ओठले उत्पन्न गर्छ त्यसमा ऊ सन्तुष्ट हुन्छ।

21 Death and life `are' in the power of the tongue, And those loving it eat its fruit.आफैंले बोलेको शब्दहरूले आफैंलाई जीवन अथवा मृत्यु बोलाइ दिन्छ। यसर्थ बोल्नु मन पराउने मानिसले आफूले बोलेको शब्दहरूले के ल्याँउछ स्वीकार्नु तत्पर रहनु पर्छ।

22 `Whoso' hath found a wife hath found good, And bringeth out good-will from Jehovah.जसले पत्नी भेटूछ उसले उत्तम कुरो भेटूयो। परमप्रभुबाट उसले अनुग्रह प्राप्त गरेको छ।

23 `With' supplications doth the poor speak, And the rich answereth fierce things.गरीब मानिसहरूलाई दयाको भिक्षा चाहिन्छ तर धनी मानिसहरूले खस्रो जवाफ दिन्छन्।

24 A man with friends `is' to show himself friendly, And there is a lover adhering more than a brother!धेरै मित्रहरू भएको मानिसले आफैंलाई हानी गर्छ, तर कुनै भित्र यस्तो पनि हुन्छ जो आफ्नै दाज्युभाई भन्दा पनि विश्वासीहुन्छ।
