Proverbs 17 - YLT (Nepali)

1 Better `is' a dry morsel, and rest with it, Than a house full of the sacrifices of strife.प्रत्येक मानिसले झगडा गर्दै खाद्ययन्ले भरिएको घरमा बस्नु भन्दा एक टुक्रा सूख्खा रोटी खाँदै शान्तिमा बस्नु असल हो।

2 A wise servant ruleth over a son causing shame, And in the midst of brethren He apportioneth an inheritance.एकजना बुद्धिमान नोकरले एकजना हडबडाउने छोरामाथि शासन् गर्छ, अनि उसले एउटा दाज्यू-भाई झैं पैतृक धन प्राप्त गर्छ।

3 A refining pot `is' for silver, and a furnace for gold, And the trier of hearts `is' Jehovah.सुन अनि चादीलाई तिनीहरू कति शुद्ध छन् भनी हेर्न आगोमा पगालीन्छ, अनि मनुष्यको हृदय परमप्रभुद्वारा जाचिन्छ।

4 An evil doer is attentive to lips of vanity, Falsehood is giving ear to a mischievous tongue.दुष्ट मानिसले अरू मानिसहरूले बोलेको दुष्ट चीजहरूमा ध्यान दिन्छ, अनिढँटुवाहरूले अरूको निन्दा सुन्छ।

5 Whoso is mocking at the poor Hath reproached his Maker, Whoso is rejoicing at calamity is not acquitted.जसले गरीबलाई घृणा गर्छ उसले सृष्टिकर्तालाई अपमान गर्छ। जो अरूको विपत्तिमा रमाउँछ ऊ दण्डबाट उम्कने छैन।

6 Sons' sons `are' the crown of old men, And the glory of sons `are' their fathers.नाति-नातिनीहरू बृद्धमानिसको निम्ति मुकुट हुन्, अनि आमा-बाबुहरू आफ्ना छरा-छरीका गौरव हुन्।

7 Not comely for a fool is a lip of excellency, Much less for a noble a lip of falsehood.मूर्ख मानिसले धेरै बोल्नु असल हुदैन, त्यसरी नै शासकलाई झूटो बोल्नु सुहाउँदैन।

8 A stone of grace `is' the bribe in the eyes of its possessors, Whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.घूस ग्रहण गर्ने मानिसलाई घूस महामन्त्र झैं लाग्छ, र त्यो मानिस जहाँ जान्छ वही उसले सफलता पाए जस्तो लाग्छ।

9 Whoso is covering transgression is seeking love, And whoso is repeating a matter Is separating a familiar friend.जसले अरूको गल्तीको बारेमा भूलिदिन्छ उसले प्रेमलाई अघि बढाउँनेछ, तर जसले अर्काको गल्ती घरि-घरि ल्याउँछ त्यसले घनिष्ट साथीहरूलाई गुमाउँछ।

10 Rebuke cometh down on the intelligent More than a hundred stripes on a fool.विवेकी मानिसलाई एउटा वचनले जति असर पार्छ, मूर्खलाई एक सय कोर्राले पनि असर पार्दैन।

11 An evil man seeketh only rebellion, And a fierce messenger is sent against him.एउटा दुष्ट मानिस सधैं नै बिद्रोह गरिरहन्छ। यसर्थ उसको बिरोधमा एकजना निष्ठूरी मानिस पठाइन्छ।

12 The meeting of a bereaved bear by a man, And -- not a fool in his folly.मूर्खको सामुने पर्नु भन्दा बच्चाहरू खोसिएको भालूको सामने पर्नु असल हुन्छ।

13 Whoso is returning evil for good, Evil moveth not from his house.यदि कसैले असलको बद्ला दुष्टाईंले लिन्छ भने घरले सधैं कठिनाइहरूको सामना गर्नेछ।

14 The beginning of contention `is' a letting out of waters, And before it is meddled with leave the strife.झगडा शुरू गर्नुको अर्थ नदीको बाँधमा प्वाल पार्नु बराबरै हो। यसैकारण नियन्त्रण भन्दा बाहिर जानु अघिनै बहसलाई अन्त गरिदेऊ।

15 Whoso is justifying the wicked, And condemning the righteous, Even both of these `are' an abomination to Jehovah.जसले एउटा दोषी मानिसलाई निर्दोष ठहराउँछ अनि एउटा निर्दोष मानिसलाई दोषी, तिनीहरू दुवैलाई परमप्रभुले घृणा गर्नु हुन्छ।

16 Why `is' this -- a price in the hand of a fool to buy wisdom, And a heart there is none?एकजना मूर्खलाई सम्पत्तिको के काम? ज्ञान किन्न? उसको दिमाग नै छैन।

17 At all times is the friend loving, And a brother for adversity is born.असल मित्रले सधैं माया गरिरहेको हुन्छ। त्यसरी नै साँचो दाज्यू-भाइले पनि कष्टको समयमा सहायता पुर्याइरहेको हुन्छ।

18 A man lacking heart is striking hands, A surety he becometh before his friend.समझ नभएको मानिसले नै वाचा-बन्धन गर्छ। अनि अर्काको ऋणमा जमानी बस्छ।

19 Whoso is loving transgression is loving debate, Whoso is making high his entrance is seeking destruction.लडाईं-झगडा मन पराउनेले पाप मन पराउँछ, अनि जसले शेखी गर्छ उसले त आफ्नै सर्वनाशलाई निम्तो दिन्छ।

20 The perverse of heart findeth not good, And the turned in his tongue falleth into evil.कुटिल हृदय भएको मानिसको कहिल्यै उन्नति हुँदैन, अनि जसको बोलीमा छल कपट हुन्छ त्यो त आफैं सत्यनाश हुन्छ।

21 Whoso is begetting a fool hath affliction for it, Yea, the father of a fool rejoiceth not.मूर्ख छोरा भएको पिता दुःखी हुन्छ। मूर्ख छोरोको बाबु कहिल्यै सुखी हुँदैन।

22 A rejoicing heart doth good to the body, And a smitten spirit drieth the bone.आफ्नो मनलाई प्रसन्न राख्नु नै सब भन्दा असल औषधी सेवन गर्नु हो। दुःखेको मनले हड्डीहरू पनि नरम पारिदिन्छ।

23 A bribe from the bosom the wicked taketh, To turn aside the paths of judgment.एकजना दुष्ट मानिसले न्याय बिर्गानको लागि गोप्य तरिकाले घूस दिन्छ।

24 The face of the intelligent `is' to wisdom, And the eyes of a fool -- at the end of the earth.ठीक विचार भएको मानिसले सधै ज्ञानको बिषयमा सोचिरहन्छ तर मूर्ख मानिसले सधैं टाडा-टाडा ठाउँको सपना देख्छ।

25 A provocation to his father `is' a foolish son, And bitterness to her that bare him.मूर्ख छोरोले उसको बाबुलाई शोक दिइरहन्छ, अनि आफूलाई जन्म दिने आमालाई पीर मार्कामा पार्छ।

26 Also, to fine the righteous is not good, To smite nobles for uprightness.अन्याय नगरी दण्ड दिनु गल्ती हो। यसरी नै ईमानदार अगुवाहरूलाई ठीक काम गरे बापत सजाय दिनु अनुचित हो।

27 One acquainted with knowledge is sparing his words, And the cool of temper `is' a man of understanding.एकजना ज्ञानी मानिस सजिलै रिसाउँदैन। ज्ञानी मानिसले होशियारसित शब्द प्रयोग गर्दै बात मार्छ।

28 Even a fool keeping silence is reckoned wise, He who is shutting his lips intelligent!चुपचाप बसे मूर्खलाई पनि ज्ञानी ठानिन्छ अनि जसले उसको मुखतालाई बन्द राख्छ ऊ विवेकी देखिन्छ।
