यहोशू 10
1 त्यसबेला अदोनिसेदेक यरूशलेमका राजा थिए। ती राजाले सुने कि यहोशूले ऐ शहरलाई परास्त गरे अनि पूर्णरूपले त्यसलाई नष्ट गरिदिए। ती राजाले थाहा पाए कि यहोशूले यरीहो अनि त्यसका राजालाई पनि त्यसै गरेका थिए। ती राजाले यो पनि थाहा पाए कि गिबोनका मानिसहरूले इस्राएलका मानिसहरूसित शान्ति सन्धि गरेका थिए। अनि ती मानिसहरू यरूशलेमको अत्यन्त नजिकमा बस्थे।
2 यसर्थ अदोनिसेदेक अनि तिनका मानिसहरू अत्यन्त डराएका थिए। गिबोन ऐ शहर जस्तो सानो शहर थिएन। गिबोन अति विशाल शहर थियो। यो एउटा राजकीय शहर जस्तै ठूलो थियो। अनि त्यस शहरका सबै मानिसहरू असल लडाकूहरू थिए। यसकारण राजा भयभीत भए।
3 अदोनि सेदेक, यरूशलेमका राजाले हेब्रोनका राजा होहाम, यर्मूतका राजा पिराम, लाकीशका राजा यापी र एग्लोनको राजा दबीरकहाँ समाचारवाहक पठाए,
4 “मेरो साथमा आउनु होस्, अनि मलाई गिबोनमाथि आक्रमण गर्न सहयोग दिनु होस्। गिबोनले यहोशू अनि इस्राएलका मानिसहरूसित शान्ति-सम्झौता गरेकोछ।”
5 यसकारण यी पाँच राजाहरूले तिनीहरूका सेनाहरू जम्मा गरे। (पाँच राजाहरू यरूशलेमका राजा, हेब्रोनका राजा, यर्मूतका राजा, लाकीशका राजा अनि एग्लोनका राजा थिए।) तिनीहरू आफ्ना सैनिकहरू लिएर गिबोनमा गए, शहरलाई घेरा हाले अनि लडाईं लडे।
6 गिबोन शहरका बासिन्दाहरूले गिलगालको छाउनीमा यहोशूकहाँ एकजना समाचारवाहक पठाए। तिनले ल्याएको समाचार यस्तो थियो, “हामी तपाईंहरूका दाशहरूलाई नत्याग्नुहोस् चाँडै आउनुहोस् र हामीलाई सहायता गर्नुहोस्। पहाडी देशका सबै एमोरी राजाहरूले तिनीहरूका सेनाहरूलाई हाम्रो विरूद्ध लड्न ल्याएका छन्।”
7 यसर्थ यहोशू आफ्ना सम्पूर्ण सेनाहरू सहित गिलगालबाट हिंडे। यहोशूका सर्वोत्तम योद्धाहरू तिनीसित थिए।
8 परमप्रभुले यहोशूलाई भन्नुभयो, “ती सेनाहरू देखि भयभीत नहोऊ। म तिमीहरूलाई तिनीहरूलाई हराउने शक्ति दिनेछु। ती सैनिकहरूमा कोही पनि तेरो सामाना गर्ने योग्यको छैन।”
9 यहोशू अनि तिनका सेना रात भरि गिबोन तर्फ हिंडे। शत्रुहरूले यहोशू आउँदैछन् भनेर थाहा पाएनन्। यसर्थ यो एक आश्चर्यपूर्ण कुरा भयो जब तिनले तिनीहरू माथि आक्रमण गरे।
10 परमप्रभुले ती सेनाहरूलाई अन्योलमा पारिदिनु भयो जब इस्राएलले आक्रमण गरे। यसरी इस्राएलीहरुले तिनीहरूलाई परास्त गरे र महान विजय प्राप्त गरे। इस्राएलका सेनाले शत्रुलाई गिबोन देखि बेथारोनको उकालो बाटो सम्म खेदे। इस्राएलका सेनाले आजेका अनि मक्केदा सम्मका मानिसहरूलाई मारे।
11 जब तिनीहरूले शत्रुहरूलाई ओह्रालो बाटोमा बेथारोन देखि आजेकासम्म शत्रुहरूलाई खेद्दै थिए, परमप्रभुले आकाशबाट ठूला-ठूला असिना खसाउनु भयो। यी ठूला-ठूला असिनाहरूद्वारा अनेक शत्रुहरू मारिए। इस्राएली सैनिकहरूका तरवारले भन्दा असिनाद्वारा धेरै मानिसहरूको मृत्यु भयो।
12 त्यसदिन परमप्रभुले इस्राएलीले एमोरी मानिसहरूलाई परास्त गर्न दिनुभयो। अनि त्यसदिन यहोशू इस्राएलका समस्त मानिसहरूको सामुन्ने उभिए र परमप्रभुलाई भनेः“हे सूर्य, गिबोन माथि स्थिर बस्। चन्द्रमा, अय्ययालोन-बेंसीमाथि स्थिर बस्।”
13 यसर्थ सूर्य स्थिर रह्यो अनि मानिसहरूले आफ्ना शत्रुहरूलाई परास्त नगरेसम्म रोकियो। यो कुरोको उल्लेख याशारको पुस्तकमा लेखिएको छ। सूर्य आकाशको माझमा रोकियो। यो एक दिन पूरा अचल रह्यो।
14 यस्तो पहिला कहिले पनि भएको थिएन। अनि यस्तो फेरि कहिले हुनेछैन। यो त्यो दिन थियो जुनदिन परमप्रभुले मानिसको कुरा सुन्नु भयो। परमप्रभु वास्तवमा इस्राएलीहरूका निम्ति लडिरहनु भएको थियो।
15 यसपछि, यहोशू अनि तिनका सेना गिलगालको छाउनीम फर्के।
16 तर युद्ध भइरहेको समयमा ती पाँचजना राजाहरू भागेर गए। तिनीहरू मक्केदा नजिकको एक गुफामा लुके।
17 तर तिनीहरूलाई त्यो गुफामा लुकि रहेको कसैले देखे। यहोशूले यस विषयमा थाहा पाए।
18 यहोशूले भने, “गुफा भित्र पस्ने ढोकालाई ठूला चट्टानहरूले बन्द गरिदेऊ। केही मानिसहरूलाई त्यहाँ रखवाली गर्न राखि देऊ।
19 तर तिमीहरू स्वयं त्यहाँ नबस। शत्रुलाई खेदन जारिराख। तिनीहरूलाई लगातार पछिबाट आक्रमण गर। शत्रुलाई तिनीहरूका शहरमा फर्केर जान नदेऊ। परमप्रभु तिमीहरूका परमेश्वरले तिमीहरूलाई तिनीहरू माथि विजय प्रदान गराउँनु भएको छ।”
20 यसरी यहोशू अनि इस्राएलका सेनाले शत्रुहरूलाई मारे। तर केही शत्रुहरू तिनीहरूको शहरमा, जस्का वरिपरि उच्च पर्खालहरू थिए, जान समर्थ भए अनि लुके, ती मानिसहरू मारिएनन्।
21 युद्ध पछि यहोशूका मानिसहरू मक्केदामा तिनी कहाँ फर्की आए। त्यसदेशमा इस्राएलका मानिसहरूको विरूद्ध साहसी मानिस कोही पनि थिएनन्।
22 यहोशूले भने, “गुफाको द्वारामा बन्द गरेका ढुङ्गाहरू हटाऊ। ती पाँचजना राजाहरूलाई मकहाँ ल्याऊ।”
23 यसर्थ यहोशूका मानिसहरूले ती पाँचजना राजाहरूलाई गुफा बाहिर ल्याए। तिनीहरू यरूशलेम, हेब्रोन, यर्मूत, लाकीश अनि एग्लोनका राजाहरू थिए।
24 तिनीहरूले ती पाँचजना राजाहरूलाई यहोशू कहाँ ल्याए। यहोशूले उसका सबै मानिसहरूलाई भने, “यहाँ आऊ, तिमीहरूका खुट्टा यी राजाहरूका धिच्रोमा राख।” यसर्थ यहोशूका सैनिक अधिकारीहरू नजिकमा आए। तिनीहरूले आफ्ना पाउ ती राजाहरूको घिच्रोमा राखे।
25 तब यहोशूले आफ्ना मानिसहरूलाई भने, “बलवान अनि साहसी बन। भयभीत नहौं। म तिमीहरूलाई देखाउनेछु जो परमप्रभुले ती शत्रुहरू प्रति गर्नुहुनेछ जोसित तिमीहरू भविष्यमा लड्नेछौ।”
26 त्यसपछि यहोशूले ती पाँच राजाहरूलाई मारे। तिनीहरूको शरीरलाई तिनले पाँचवटा रूखमा झुण्ड्याइ दिए। यहोशूले साँझ नभएसम्म तिनीहरूलाई रूखमै झुण्डियाएर राखे।
27 सूर्यास्तको समयमा यहोशूले उसका मानिसहरूलाई रूखहरूबाट मृत शरीरहरू तल झार्ने आदेश दिए। तिनीहरूले मृत शरीरहरू त्यही गुफामा फ्याँकि दिए जहाँ स्वंय राजाहरू लुकेका थिए अनि गुफालाई ठूला ढुङ्गाहरूले छोपेका थिए। ती ढुङ्गाहरू आजसम्म त्यहीं छन्।
28 त्यसदिन यहोशूले मक्केदालाई परास्त गरे। यहोशूले त्यस शहरका राजा र प्रजा सबैलाई मारि दिए। त्यहाँ मानिसहरू कोही जीवित छाडिएन। यहोशूले यरीहोका राजा प्रति जे गरेका थिए त्यस्तै मक्कैदाका राजा प्रति गरे।
29 त्यसपछि यहोशू अनि इस्राएलका सबै मानिसहरूले मक्केदाबाट यात्रा गरे। तिनीहरू लिब्ना गए अनि त्यस शहर माथि आक्रमण गरे।
30 परमप्रभुले इस्राएलका मानिसहरूलाई शहर अनि त्यसका राजालाई पराजित गराइदिनु भयो। इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले त्यस शहरका प्रत्येक मानिसहरूलाई मारे। एउटा मानिस पनि जीउँदो रहेनन्। अनि यरीहोका राजालाई गरे जस्तै यहोशूले त्यस राजालाई पनि गरे।
31 त्यसपछि यहोशू अनि इस्राएलका सबै मानिसहरूले लिब्ना छाडे अनि लाकीश तिर गए। यहोशू अनि तिनका सेनाले त्यो शहरको चारैतिर छाउनी बसाए अनि त्यस माथि आक्रमण गरे।
32 लाकीश शहर परास्त गर्न परमप्रभुले तिनीहरूलाई सहयोग गर्नु भयो। तिनीहरूले त्यस शहरलाई दोस्रो दिनमा परास्त गरे। इस्राएलीहरूले त्यस शहरका प्रत्येक मानिसहरूलाई मारिदिए जसरी तिनीहरूले लिब्नामा मारेका थिए।
33 गेजेरका राजा होराम लाकीशलाई सहायता गर्नु आए, तर यहोशूले तिनी र तिनका सेनालाई पनि परास्त गरे। तिनीहरू मध्ये एक जनालाई पनि जीवित छाडिएन।
34 तब यहोशू अनि इस्राएलका समस्त सेनाहरू लाकीश देखि एग्लोनतर्फ यात्रा गरे। तिनीहरूले एग्लोनको चारैतिर छाउनी बसाए अनि त्यस माथि आक्रमण गरे।
35 त्यसदिन तिनीहरूले शहरमा अधिकार गरे अनि शहरका सबै मानिसहरूलाई मारिदिए। यो त्यस्तै कुरा थियो जो तिनीहरूले लाकीश प्रति गरेका थिए।
36 त्यसपछि यहोशू अनि इस्राएलका सबै मानिसहरूले एग्लोन देखि हेब्रोनको यात्रामा गए। तब तिनीहरूले हेब्रोन माथि आक्रमण गरे।
37 तिनीहरूले हेब्रोन नजिकका सबै स-साना शहरहरू कब्जा गरे। इस्राएलीहरूले त्यस शहरका राजा अनि सबै मानिसहरूलाई मारिदिए। एकजना मानिसलाई पनि जीवित राखेनन्। यो त्यस्तै भयो जस्तो तिनीहरूले एग्लोन प्रति गरेका थिए। तिनीहरूले शहरलाई ध्वंश पारे त्यहाँ जो थिए सबै मारिए।
38 तब यहोशू अनि इस्राएलका सबै मानिसहरू दबीरतिर फर्केर गए र त्यस शहरलाई आक्रमण गरे।
39 तिनीहरूले त्यो शहर, त्यसका राजा अनि दबीर नजिकका सबै ससाना शहरहरू अधीनमा लिए। तिनीहरूले त्यस शहरमा भएका हरेक मानिसलाई मारे। कसैलाई पनि जीवित छाडिएन। इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले दबीर अनि त्यसका राजालाई त्यसै गरे जस्तो तिनीहरूले हेब्रोन अनि त्यहाँका राजालाई गरेका थिए। यो त्यस्तै कुरा थियो जस्तो तिनीहरूले लिब्ना अनि त्यसका राजाप्रति गरेका थिए।
40 यसरी यहोशूले पहाडी देश, नेगेब, पश्चिमी तराई, अनि पूर्वी तराईका शहरका सबै राजाहरूलाई परास्त गरे। परमप्रभु इस्राएलका परमेश्वरले यहोशूलाई सबै मानिसहरूलाई मारिदिनु भन्नु भएको थियो। यसर्थ यहोशूले ती स्थानहरूमा कसैलाई पनि जीवित छाडेनन्।
41 यहोशूले कादेशबर्ने देखि गाजा सम्मका समस्त शहरहरू अधिकारमा ल्याए। तिनले गोशेन देखि (मिश्रदेशमा) गिबोन सम्मका सबै शहरहरू कब्जा गरे।
42 यहोशूले ती सबै शहरहरू अनि तिनीहरूका राजाहरूलाई एकै चोटि अधीनमा लिए। यहोशूले यसो गरे किनभने, परमप्रभु इस्राएलका परमेश्वरले इस्राएलका निम्ति युद्ध गरिरहनु भएको थियो।
43 त्यसपछि यहोशू अनि इस्राएलका सबै मानिसहरू गिलगालमा आफ्ना छाउनीमा फर्किए।
1 Now it came to pass, when Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;
2 That they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty.
3 Wherefore Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying,
4 Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon: for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.
5 Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their hosts, and encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it.
6 And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.
7 So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valour.
8 And the Lord said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.
9 Joshua therefore came unto them suddenly, and went up from Gilgal all night.
10 And the Lord discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Beth-horon, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah.
11 And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Beth-horon, that the Lord cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.
12 Then spake Joshua to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.
13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the Lord fought for Israel.
15 And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.
16 But these five kings fled, and hid themselves in a cave at Makkedah.
17 And it was told Joshua, saying, The five kings are found hid in a cave at Makkedah.
18 And Joshua said, Roll great stones upon the mouth of the cave, and set men by it for to keep them:
19 And stay ye not, but pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them; suffer them not to enter into their cities: for the Lord your God hath delivered them into your hand.
20 And it came to pass, when Joshua and the children of Israel had made an end of slaying them with a very great slaughter, till they were consumed, that the rest which remained of them entered into fenced cities.
21 And all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace: none moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.
22 Then said Joshua, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out those five kings unto me out of the cave.
23 And they did so, and brought forth those five kings unto him out of the cave, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.
24 And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them.
25 And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the Lord do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.
26 And afterward Joshua smote them, and slew them, and hanged them on five trees: and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening.
27 And it came to pass at the time of the going down of the sun, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave wherein they had been hid, and laid great stones in the cave’s mouth, which remain until this very day.
28 And that day Joshua took Makkedah, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof he utterly destroyed, them, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain: and he did to the king of Makkedah as he did unto the king of Jericho.
29 Then Joshua passed from Makkedah, and all Israel with him, unto Libnah, and fought against Libnah:
30 And the Lord delivered it also, and the king thereof, into the hand of Israel; and he smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain in it; but did unto the king thereof as he did unto the king of Jericho.
31 And Joshua passed from Libnah, and all Israel with him, unto Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it:
32 And the Lord delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel, which took it on the second day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein, according to all that he had done to Libnah.
33 Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua smote him and his people, until he had left him none remaining.
34 And from Lachish Joshua passed unto Eglon, and all Israel with him; and they encamped against it, and fought against it:
35 And they took it on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein he utterly destroyed that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish.
36 And Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, unto Hebron; and they fought against it:
37 And they took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but destroyed it utterly, and all the souls that were therein.
38 And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir; and fought against it:
39 And he took it, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof; and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining: as he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to the king thereof; as he had done also to Libnah, and to her king.
40 So Joshua smote all the country of the hills, and of the south, and of the vale, and of the springs, and all their kings: he left none remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the Lord God of Israel commanded.
41 And Joshua smote them from Kadesh-barnea even unto Gaza, and all the country of Goshen, even unto Gibeon.
42 And all these kings and their land did Joshua take at one time, because the Lord God of Israel fought for Israel.
43 And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.
Numbers 32 in Tamil and English
1 ઇસ્રાએલી પ્રજા યાઝેર અને ગિલયાદના પ્રદેશમાં આવી, રૂબેન અને ગાદના કુળસમૂહો પાસે ઘેટાનાં મોટાં મોટાં ઘણ હતા. તેમણે જોયું કે આ પ્રદેશ ઢોરઢાંખરના ઉછેર માંટે ઉત્તમ અને અનુકુળ છે.
Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that, behold, the place was a place for cattle;
2 તેથી તેઓએ મૂસા; યાજક એલઆઝાર અને સમાંજના આગેવાનો સમક્ષ આવીને કહ્યું,
The children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spake unto Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and unto the princes of the congregation, saying,
3 “ઇસ્રાએલી સમાંજને યહોવાએ જીતી આપેલો પ્રદેશ, અટારોથ, દીબોન, યાઝેર, નિમ્રાહ, હેશ્બોન, એલઆલેહ, સબામ, નબો અને બેઓન.
Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Shebam, and Nebo, and Beon,
4 આ સમગ્ર પ્રદેશ ઢોરઢાંખરના ઉછેર માંટે ખૂબ અનુકૂળ છે, અને આપના સેવકો પાસે પુષ્કળ ઢોરો છે.
Even the country which the Lord smote before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle:
5 અમાંરા પર કૃપા હોય તો યર્દન નદી ઓળંગીને તે તરફના વિસ્તારને બદલે આ પ્રદેશ અમાંરા ભાગમાં આપો.”
Wherefore, said they, if we have found grace in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession, and bring us not over Jordan.
6 મૂસાએ ગાદ અને રૂબેનના કુળસમૂહોને કહ્યું, “તમાંરા બીજા ઇસ્રાએલી ભાઈઓ તો યુદ્ધમાં જાય છે ત્યારેશું તમે અહી રહેવા માંગો છો?
And Moses said unto the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here?
7 ઇસ્રાએલીઓ યર્દન નદી ઓળંગીને યહોવાએ તેમને આપેલી ભૂમિમાં દાખલ થવા જાય છે, ત્યારે તમે શા માંટે તેમને નિરૂત્સાહી કરો છો?
And wherefore discourage ye the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which the Lord hath given them?
8 જ્યારે મેં તમાંરા પિતૃઓને કાદેશ બાર્નેઆથી દેશની જાસૂસી કરવા મોકલ્યા હતા, ત્યારે તેઓએ આવુ જ વર્તન કર્યુ હતું, તે લોકો એશ્કોલ ખીણ સુધી ગયા.
Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land.
9 પ્રદેશ જોયો અને જે પ્રદેશ યહોવાએ ઇસ્રાએલીઓને આપ્યો હતો ત્યાં જવાનો તેમનો ઉત્સાહ તોડી પાડયો.
For when they went up unto the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which the Lord had given them.
10 આથી તે દિવસે યહોવાનો ક્રોધ ભભૂકી ઊઠયો હતો અને તેણે વચન આપ્યું કે,
And the Lord’s anger was kindled the same time, and he sware, saying,
11 ‘તે લોકો મને વિશ્વાસુ રહ્યા નથી તેથી મિસરમાંથી આવેલા એમાંના 20વર્ષ અને તેથી વધારે ઉમરના ઇસ્રાએલીઓ ઈબ્રાહિમ, ઈસહાક અને યાકૂબને જે ભૂમિ આપવાનું વચન આપ્યુ હતું તેમાં તે પ્રવેશ કરશે નહિ.
Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:
12 અપવાદરૂપે ફકત માંરામાં સંપૂર્ણ વિશ્વાસ રાખનાર કનિઝઝી યફૂન્નેહનો પુત્ર કાલેબ અને નૂનનો પુત્ર યહોશુઆ જેઓએ વચનના દેશમાં જવા માંટે લોકોને અનુરોધ કર્યો હતો.’
Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua the son of Nun: for they have wholly followed the Lord.
13 “ઇસ્રાએલીઓ ઉપર યહોવાનો કોપ ભભૂકી ઊઠયો, અને તેણે તેમને 40વર્ષ સુધી રણમાં રઝળાવ્યા, અને આખેર યહોવાને દુઃખ આપનારી આખી પેઢી સમાંપ્ત થઈ ગઈ
And the Lord’s anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the Lord, was consumed.
14 અને હવે તમે, પાપી લોકો, પણ તમાંરા પિતાઓએ કર્યુ તેમ કરો છો. શું તમાંરે યહોવાને તેના લોકો વિરુદ્ધ હજુ વધારે ગુસ્સે કરવા છે?
And, behold, ye are risen up in your fathers’ stead, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of the Lord toward Israel.
15 કારણ, જો તમે અત્યારે આ પ્રમાંણે દેવથી વિમુખ થશો તો તે આ બધા લોકોને રણમાં રઝળતાં છોડી દેશે અને તમે તેમના વિનાશનું નિમિત્ત બનશો.”
For if ye turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and ye shall destroy all this people.
16 તેથી તેમણે મૂસાની પાસે જઈને કહ્યું, “અમે અહીં અમાંરાં ઘેટાંબકરાં માંટે વાડા બાંધીશું અને અમાંરાં સ્ત્રી બાળકો માંટે કિલ્લેબંધી નગરો બાંધીશું;
And they came near unto him, and said, We will build sheepfolds here for our cattle, and cities for our little ones:
17 ત્યાર બાદ અમે જાતે શસ્ત્રસજજ થઈને ઇસ્રાએલી પ્રજાની આગળ રહી તેમને તેમની ભૂમિમાં પહોંચાડતા સુધી લડીશું, એ સમય દરમ્યાન અમાંરાં સ્ત્રી બાળકો એ ગામોમાં દેશના મૂળ વતનીઓના હુમલાથી સુરક્ષિત રહી શકશે.
But we ourselves will go ready armed before the children of Israel, until we have brought them unto their place: and our little ones shall dwell in the fenced cities because of the inhabitants of the land.
18 અને બધા ઇસ્રાએલીઓને તેઓનો વારસો-પોતાના ભાગની જમીનનો પાછો નહિ મળે ત્યાં સુધી અમે પાછા નહિ ફરીએ.
We will not return unto our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance.
19 વળી અમે યર્દન નદીને પેલે પારના પ્રદેશમાં તેમની સાથે જમીનમાં ભાગ માંગીશું નહિ, કારણ કે, તેના બદલે અમને યર્દન નદીને પૂર્વકાંઠે અમાંરા ભાગની જમીન મળેલી છે ત્યાં રહેવાનું અમે પસંદ કરીશું.”
For we will not inherit with them on yonder side Jordan, or forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side Jordan eastward.
20 એટલે મૂસાએ કહ્યું, “ઠીક, તો તમે જે કહ્યું છે તે પ્રમાંણે કરો અને યહોવાના યુદ્ધ માંટે પોતાને સજજ કરો.
And Moses said unto them, If ye will do this thing, if ye will go armed before the Lord to war,
21 અને યહોવા પોતાના શત્રુઓને તે દેશમાંથી હાંકી કાઢે ત્યાં સુધી તમાંરી સેનાની ટુકડીઓને યર્દન નદીને પાર રાખો અને ત્યાં રહો.
And will go all of you armed over Jordan before the Lord, until he hath driven out his enemies from before him,
22 પછી તે ભૂમિ યહોવાના તાબામાં આવી જાય ત્યાર બાદ જ તમે પાછા ફરો તો, તમે યહોવા અને ઇસ્રાએલ પ્રત્યેના કર્તવ્યથી મુકત થશો અને આ ભૂમિ યહોવાની દ્રષ્ટિએ તમાંરી માંલિકીની થશે.
And the land be subdued before the Lord: then afterward ye shall return, and be guiltless before the Lord, and before Israel; and this land shall be your possession before the Lord.
23 પરંતુ જો તમે જે કહ્યું, તે પ્રમાંણે નહિ કરો તો, તે યહોવાની વિરુદ્ધનું તમાંરું પાપ ગણાશે, અને તમાંરે તમાંરું પાપ અચૂક ભોગવવું પડશે.
But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the Lord: and be sure your sin will find you out.
24 ભલે, જાઓ અને તમાંરાં કુટુંબો, સ્ત્રી બાળકો માંટે નગરો તથા તમાંરાં ઢોરઢાંખર માંટે વાડા બાંધો, અને તમે કહ્યું છે તે બધું તમે કરો. તમાંરું વચન પાળજો.”
Build you cities for your little ones, and folds for your sheep; and do that which hath proceeded out of your mouth.
25 ગાદ અને રૂબેનના કુળસમૂહોએ મૂસાને કહ્યું, “ધણી, અમે આપના સેવકો આપ કહેશો તેમ કરીશું, અને તમાંરી સૂચનાઓ અક્ષઃરશ પાળીશું.
And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben spake unto Moses, saying, Thy servants will do as my lord commandeth.
26 અમાંરાં બાળકો અને સ્ત્રીઓ, અમાંરાં ઘેટાબકરાં અને બીજાં બધાં પ્રાણીઓ અહીં ગિલયાદનાં ગામોમાં રહેશે,
Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our cattle, shall be there in the cities of Gilead:
27 પણ અમે આપના સેવકો બધા હથિયાર ધારણ કરીશું અને યર્દન પાર જઈશું યહોવાની સમક્ષ લડવા માંટે અમાંરા ધણીએ કહ્યા મુજબ.”
But thy servants will pass over, every man armed for war, before the Lord to battle, as my lord saith.
28 તેથી મૂસાએ યાજક એલઆઝાર, યહોશુઆ અને ઇસ્રાએલના કુળસમૂહના આગેવાનોને કહ્યું,
So concerning them Moses commanded Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the chief fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel:
29 “જો ગાદના અને રૂબેનના વંશજો હથિયાર ધારણ કરીને તમાંરી સાથે યહોવા સમક્ષ લડવાને યર્દન ઓળંગીને આવે, અને જો તે પ્રદેશ તમાંરા તાબામાં આવી જાય તો તમાંરે તેમને ગિલયાદનો પ્રદેશ તેમાં ભાગ તરીકે આપવો.
And Moses said unto them, If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben will pass with you over Jordan, every man armed to battle, before the Lord, and the land shall be subdued before you; then ye shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession:
30 પણ જો તેઓ હથિયાર ધારણ કરીને તમાંરી સાથે યર્દન ઓળંગીને ન આવે તો તેમને તેમનો ભાગ કનાનમાં જ તમાંરી સાથે મળશે.”
But if they will not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan.
31 ગાદના અને રૂબેનના લોકોએ કહ્યું, “ધણી, અમે યહોવાએ જણાવ્યા મુજબ કરીશું.
And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, As the Lord hath said unto thy servants, so will we do.
32 અમે હથિયાર ધારણ કરીને યહોવા સમક્ષ યર્દન પાર કરીને કનાનના પ્રદેશમાં જઈશું. પણ અમને યર્દન નદીના આ પૂર્વકાંઠે અમાંરા ભાગની જમીન મળવી જોઈએ.”
We will pass over armed before the Lord into the land of Canaan, that the possession of our inheritance on this side Jordan may be ours.
33 આથી મૂસાએ ગાદના અને રૂબેનના વંશજોને તથા યૂસફના પુત્ર મનાશ્શાના અર્ધકુળસમૂહને અમોરીઓના રાજા સીહોનનું રાજ્ય અને બાશાનના રાજા ઓગનું રાજ્ય, એ સમગ્ર પ્રદેશ અને તેમાંના શહેરો તથા આજુબાજુની જમીન બધું આપી દીધું.
And Moses gave unto them, even to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and unto half the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, with the cities thereof in the coasts, even the cities of the country round about.
34 પછી ગાદના વંશજોએ કોટવાળાં નગરો બાંધ્યાં; દીબોન, અટારાથ, અરોએર,
And the children of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,
35 આટ્રોથ-શોફાન, યાઝેર, યોગ્બહાહ,
And Atroth, Shophan, and Jaazer, and Jogbehah,
36 બેથ-નિમ્રાહ અને બેન-હારાન, તથા ઘેટાબકરાંઓ માંટે વાડાઓ બાંધ્યા.
And Beth-nimrah, and Beth-haran, fenced cities: and folds for sheep.
37 રૂબેનના વંશજોએ હેશ્બોન,
And the children of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kirjathaim,
38 એલઆલેહ, કિર્યાથાઈમ, નબો, બઆલ-મેઓન અને સિબ્માંહ આ રીતે નબો અને બઆલ-મેઓનને નવા નામ આપ્યા.
And Nebo, and Baal-meon, (their names being changed,) and Shibmah: and gave other names unto the cities which they builded.
39 ત્યારબાદ મનાશ્શાના વંશજોમાંથી માંખીરના કુળસમૂહના લોકોએ ગિલયાદ પર ચઢાઈ કરીને તે જીત લીધું અને ત્યાંથી અમોરીઓને હાંકી કાઢયા.
And the children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, and took it, and dispossessed the Amorite which was in it.
40 આથી મૂસાએ મનાશ્શાના કુળસમૂહના માંખીરને ગિલયાદ આપ્યું અને તે ત્યાં સ્થિર થયો.
And Moses gave Gilead unto Machir the son of Manasseh; and he dwelt therein.
41 મનાશ્શાના કુળસમૂહમાંથી યાઈરના ગોત્રના માંણસોએ ગિલયાદના અનેક નગરો પર ચઢાઈ કરી તેમનાં ગામડાં કબજે કરી લીધાં અને તેઓના પ્રદેશનું નામ બદલીને હાવ્વોથ-યાઈર નામ આપ્યું.
And Jair the son of Manasseh went and took the small towns thereof, and called them Havoth-jair.
42 વળી નોબાહ નામનો વ્યક્તિ લશ્કર લઈને કનાથ અને તેની આસપાસના ગામડાં પર ચઢી આવ્યો અને તે કબજે કરી લીધાં અને તેનું નામ પોતાના નામ ઉપરથી ‘નોબાહ’ રાખ્યું.
And Nobah went and took Kenath, and the villages thereof, and called it Nobah, after his own name.
