पलिश्तीहरूले त्यहाँ रहेका इस्राएलीहरूलाई दण्ड दिने निश्चय गरे। तिनीहरूका शक्तिशाली सैनिकहरूले आक्रमण शुरू गरे। पलिश्ती सैनिकहरू तीन भागमा बाँडिएका थिए। पहिलो दल उत्तरतिरको ओप्रा जाने सडकबाट शूआल तर्फ लागे।
