1 யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோசபாத்தின் பதினெட்டாம் வருஷத்தில் ஆகாபின் குமாரனாகிய யோராம் சமாரியாவிலே இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாகிப் பன்னிரண்டு; வருஷம் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணி, Now Jehoram the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned twelve years.

2 கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தான்; ஆனாலும் தன் தகப்பனைப்போலும் தன் தாயைப் போலும் அல்ல; தன் தகப்பன் பண்ணுவித்த பாகாலின் சிலையை அகற்றிவிட்டான். And he wrought evil in the sight of the LORD; but not like his father, and like his mother: for he put away the image of Baal that his father had made.

3 என்றாலும் இஸ்ரவேலைப் பாவஞ் செய்யப்பண்ணின நேபாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய யெரொபெயாமின் பாவங்களை அவன் விட்டு நீங்காமல் அவைகளிலே சிக்கிக் கொண்டிருந்தான். Nevertheless he cleaved unto the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.

4 மோவாபின் ராஜாவாகிய மேசா ஆடுமாடுகள் பெருத்தவனாயிருந்து, இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவுக்கு இலட்சம் ஆட்டுக்குட்டிகளையும், இலட்சம் குறும்பாட்டுக் கடாக்களையும் செலுத்திவந்தான். And Mesha king of Moab was a sheepmaster, and rendered unto the king of Israel an hundred thousand lambs, and an hundred thousand rams, with the wool.

5 ஆகாப் இறந்துபோனபின் மோவாபின் ராஜா இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவுக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கலகம் பண்ணினான். But it came to pass, when Ahab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.

6 அக்காலத்திலே யோராம் என்னும் ராஜா சமாரியாவிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு, இஸ்ரவேலையெல்லாம் இலக்கம் பார்த்துப்போய்; And king Jehoram went out of Samaria the same time, and numbered all Israel.

7 மோவாபின் ராஜா எனக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கலகம்பண்ணினான்; மோவாபியர்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ண, என்னோடேகூட வருகிறீரா என்று யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோசபாத்தைக் கேட்டனுப்பினதற்கு; அவன் நான் வருகிறேன்; நான் தான் நீர், என்னுடைய ஜனங்கள் உம்முடைய ஜனங்கள், என்னுடைய குதிரைகள் உம்முடைய குதிரைகள் என்றான். And he went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, The king of Moab hath rebelled against me: wilt thou go with me against Moab to battle? And he said, I will go up: I am as thou art, my people as thy people, and my horses as thy horses.

8 எந்த வழியாய்ப் போவோம் என்று கேட்டான்; அதற்கு அவன்: ஏதோம் வனாந்தரவழியாய் என்றான். And he said, Which way shall we go up? And he answered, The way through the wilderness of Edom.

So the king of Israel went, and the king of Judah, and the king of Edom: and they fetched a compass of seven days' journey: and there was no water for the host, and for the cattle that followed them.

10 அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா: ஐயோ, இந்த மூன்று ராஜாக்களையும் கர்த்தர் மோவாபியரின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்க வரவழைத்தாரே என்றான். And the king of Israel said, Alas! that the LORD hath called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab!

11 அப்பொழுது யோசபாத்: நாம் கர்த்தரிடத்தில் விசாரிக்கும்படி கர்த்தருடைய தீர்க்கதரிசி ஒருவரும் இங்கே இல்லையா என்று கேட்டதற்கு, எலியாவின் கைகளுக்குத் தண்ணீர் வார்த்த சாப்பாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய எலிசா இங்கே இருக்கிறான் என்று இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாவின் ஊழியக்காரரில் ஒருவன் மறுமொழியாகச் சொன்னான். But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD, that we may enquire of the LORD by him? And one of the king of Israel's servants answered and said, Here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah.

12 அப்பொழுது யோசபாத் அவனை நோக்கி: கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தை அவனிடத்தில் இருக்கிறது என்றான்; இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவும் யோசபாத்தும் ஏதோமின் ராஜாவும் அவனிடத்தில் போனார்கள். And Jehoshaphat said, The word of the LORD is with him. So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.

13 எலிசா இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: எனக்கும் உமக்கும் என்ன? நீர் உம்முடைய தகப்பனின் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளிடத்திலும், உம்முடைய தாயாரின் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளிடத்திலும் போம் என்றான். அதற்கு இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா: அப்படியல்ல, கர்த்தர் இந்த மூன்று ராஜாக்களையும் மோவாபியரின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கிறதற்கு வரவழைத்தார் என்றான். And Elisha said, As the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward thee, nor see thee.

15 இப்போதும் ஒரு சுரமண்டல வாத்தியக்காரனை என்னிடத்தில் கொண்டுவாருங்கள் என்றான்; சுரமண்டல வாத்தியக்காரன் வந்து வாசித்தபோது கர்த்தருடைய கரம் அவன்மேல் இறங்கி, But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him.

16 அவன்: கர்த்தர் உரைக்கிறது என்னவென்றால், இந்தப் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே எங்கும் வாய்க்கால்களை வெட்டுங்கள். And he said, Thus saith the LORD, Make this valley full of ditches.

17 நீங்கள் காற்றையும் காணமாட்டீர்கள், மழையையும் காணமாட்டீர்கள்; ஆனாலும் நீங்களும் உங்கள் ஆடு மாடுகளும் உங்கள் மிருகஜீவன்களும் குடிக்கும்படிக்கு, இந்தப் பள்ளத்தாக்கு தண்ணீரால் நிரப்பப்படும் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார். For thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, that ye may drink, both ye, and your cattle, and your beasts.

18 இது கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்கு அற்பகாரியம்; மோவாபியரையும் உங்கள் கையிலே ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார். And this is but a light thing in the sight of the LORD: he will deliver the Moabites also into your hand.

19 நீங்கள் சகல கோட்டைகளையும் சகல சிறந்த பட்டணங்களையும் தகர்த்து, நல்ல மரங்களையெல்லாம் வெட்டி, நீரூற்றுகளையெல்லாம் தூர்த்து, நல்ல நிலத்தையெல்லாம் கல்மேடுகளாக்கிக் கெடுப்பீர்கள் என்றான். And ye shall smite every fenced city, and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all wells of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.

20 மறுநாள் காலமே பலிசெலுத்தப்படும் நேரத்தில், இதோ, தண்ணீர் ஏதோம் தேசவழியாய் வந்ததினால் தேசம் தண்ணீரால் நிரம்பிற்று. And it came to pass in the morning, when the meat offering was offered, that, behold, there came water by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.

And they beat down the cities, and on every good piece of land cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the wells of water, and felled all the good trees: only in Kirharaseth left they the stones thereof; howbeit the slingers went about it, and smote it.

26 யுத்தம் மும்முரமாகிறதென்று மோவாபியரின் ராஜா கண்டபோது, அவன் ஏதோமின் ராஜாவின்மேல் வலுமையாய் விழுகிறதற்குப் பட்டயம் உருவுகிற எழுநூறுபேரைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு போனான்; ஆனாலும் அவர்களாலே கூடாமற்போயிற்று. And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too sore for him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew swords, to break through even unto the king of Edom: but they could not.

27 அப்பொழுது அவன் தன் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவாகப்போகிற தன் சேஷ்டபுத்திரனைப் பிடித்து, அலங்கத்தின்மேல் அவனைச் சர்வாங்க தகனமாக பலியிட்டான்; அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலர்மேல் கடுங்கோபம் மூண்டதினால், அவர்கள் அவனைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டு, தங்கள் தேசத்திற்குத் திரும்பி விட்டார்கள். Then he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt offering upon the wall. And there was great indignation against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.

1 Yoothaavin raajaavaakiya yosapaaththin pathinettam varushaththil aakaapin kumaaranaakiya yoraam samaariyaavilae isravaelinmael raajaavaakip panniranndu; varusham raajyapaarampannnni, Now Jehoram the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned twelve years.

2 Karththarin paarvaikkup pollaappaanathaich seythaan; aanaalum than thakappanaippolum than thaayaip polum alla; than thakappan pannnuviththa paakaalin silaiyai akattivittan. And he wrought evil in the sight of the LORD; but not like his father, and like his mother: for he put away the image of Baal that his father had made.

3 Entalum isravaelaip paavanj seyyappannnnina naepaaththin kumaaranaakiya yeropeyaamin paavangalai avan vittu neengaamal avaikalilae sikkik konntirunthaan. Nevertheless he cleaved unto the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.

4 Movaapin raajaavaakiya maesaa aadumaadukal peruththavanaayirunthu, isravaelin raajaavukku ilatcham aattukkuttikalaiyum, ilatcham kuraுmpaattuk kadaakkalaiyum seluththivanthaan. 5 Aakaap iranthuponapin movaapin raajaa isravaelin raajaavukku virothamaayk kalakam pannnninaan. But it came to pass, when Ahab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.

6 Akkaalaththilae yoraam ennum raajaa samaariyaavilirunthu purappattu, isravaelaiyellaam ilakkam paarththuppoy; And king Jehoram went out of Samaria the same time, and numbered all Israel.

7 Movaapin raajaa enakku virothamaayk kalakampannnninaan; movaapiyarmael yuththampannna, ennotaekooda varukireeraa entu yoothaavin raajaavaakiya yosapaaththaik kaettanuppinatharku; avan naan varukiraேn; naan thaan neer, ennutaiya janangal ummutaiya janangal, ennutaiya kuthiraikal ummutaiya kuthiraikal entan. And he went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, The king of Moab hath rebelled against me: wilt thou go with me against Moab to battle? 9 Appatiyae isravaelin raajaavum yoothaavin raajaavum aethomin raajaavum sernthu ponaarkal; aanaalum avarkal aelunaal suttiththirinthapothu, avarkalaip pinsellukira iraanuvaththukkum mirukajeevankalukkum thannnneer illaamarpoyittaு. So the king of Israel went, and the king of Judah, and the king of Edom: and they fetched a compass of seven days' journey: and there was no water for the host, and for the cattle that followed them.

10 Appoluthu isravaelin raajaa: aiyo, intha moontu raajaakkalaiyum Karththar movaapiyarin kaiyil oppukkodukka varavalaiththaarae entan. And the king of Israel said, Alas! that the LORD hath called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab!

11 Appoluthu yosapaath: naam karththaridaththil visaarikkumpati karththarutaiya theerkkatharisi oruvarum ingae illaiyaa entu kaettatharku, eliyaavin kaikalukkuth thannnneer vaarththa saappaaththin kumaaranaakiya elisaa ingae irukkiraan entu Israel raajaavin ooliyakkaararil oruvan maraுmoliyaakach sonnaan. But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD, that we may enquire of the LORD by him? And one of the king of Israel's servants answered and said, Here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah.

12 Appoluthu yosapaath avanai Nnokki: karththarutaiya vaarththai avanidaththil irukkirathu entan; isravaelin raajaavum yosapaaththum aethomin raajaavum avanidaththil ponaarkal. And Jehoshaphat said, The word of the LORD is with him. So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.

13 Elisaa isravaelin raajaavaip paarththu: enakkum umakkum enna? Neer ummutaiya thakappanin theerkkatharisikalidaththilum, ummutaiya thaayaarin theerkkatharisikalidaththilum pom entan. Atharku isravaelin raajaa: appatiyalla, Karththar intha moontu raajaakkalaiyum movaapiyarin kaiyil oppukkodukkiratharku varavalaiththaar entan. And Elisha said unto the king of Israel, What have I to do with thee? get thee to the prophets of thy father, and to the prophets of thy mother. And the king of Israel said unto him, Nay: for the LORD hath called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab.

14 Atharku elisaa: naan yoothaavin raajaavaakiya yosapaaththin mukaththaip paaraathirunthaal naan ummai Nnokkavumaattaேn, ummaip paarkkavumaattaேn entu senaikalutaiya karththarukku munnirkira naan avarutaiya jeevanaikkonndu sollukiraேn. 15 Ippothum oru suramanndala vaaththiyakkaaranai ennidaththil konnduvaarungal entan; suramanndala vaaththiyakkaaran vanthu vaasiththapothu karththarutaiya karam avanmael irangi, But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him.

16 Avan: Karththar uraikkirathu ennavental, inthap pallaththaakkilae engum vaaykkaalkalai vettungal. And he said, Thus saith the LORD, Make this valley full of ditches.

17 Neengal kaattaைyum kaanamaattirkal, malaiyaiyum kaanamaattirkal; aanaalum neengalum ungal aadu maadukalum ungal mirukajeevankalum kutikkumpatikku, inthap pallaththaakku thannnneeraal nirappappadum entu Karththar sollukiraar. For thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, that ye may drink, both ye, and your cattle, and your beasts.

18 Ithu karththarin paarvaikku arpakaariyam; movaapiyaraiyum ungal kaiyilae oppukkoduppaar. And this is but a light thing in the sight of the LORD: he will deliver the Moabites also into your hand.

19 Neengal sakala kottaைkalaiyum sakala sirantha pattanangalaiyum thakarththu, nalla marangalaiyellaam vetti, neeroottaுkalaiyellaam thoorththu, nalla nilaththaiyellaam kalmaedukalaakkik keduppeerkal entan. 20 Maraுnaal kaalamae paliseluththappadum naeraththil, itho, thannnneer aethom thaesavaliyaay vanthathinaal thaesam thannnneeraal nirampittaு. 21 Thangalodu yuththampannna raajaakkal varukirathai movaapiyarellaarum kaettapothu, avarkal aayutham tharikkaththakka vayathullavarkalaiyum, atharku mael tharamaanavarkal ellaaraiyum kootti alaiththuk konnduvanthu ellaiyilae nintarkal. And when all the Moabites heard that the kings were come up to fight against them, they gathered all that were able to put on armor, and upward, and stood in the border.

22 Movaapiyar athikaalamae elunthapothu sooriyan thannnneerin mael pirakaasiththathinaal anthath thannnneer avarkalukku iraththampol sivappaayk kaanappattathu. And they rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone upon the water, and the Moabites saw the water on the other side as red as blood:

23 Athinaal avarkal: ithu iraththam, antha raajaakkal thangalaith thaangalae oruvarai oruvar vettikkonndu maannduponaarkal; aathalaal movaapiyarae, kollaikku vaarungal entu sonnaarkal. And they said, This is blood: the kings are surely slain, and they have smitten one another: now therefore, Moab, to the spoil.

25 Pattanangalai itiththu, sakala nalla nilaththilum kallerinthu nirappi, neeroottaுkalaiyellaam thoorththu, nalla marangalaiyellaam vettippottarkal; kiraaraeseththilae maaththiram athin mathilkal innum itipadaathirukkirapothu; kavannkaarar athaich suttikkonndu athaiyum sethamaakkinaarkal. 27 Appoluthu avan than sthaanaththil raajaavaakappokira than seshdapuththiranaip pitiththu, alangaththinmael avanaich sarvaanga thakanamaaka paliyittan; appoluthu isravaelarmael kadungaோpam moonndathinaal, avarkal avanaivittup purappattu, thangal thaesaththirkuth thirumpi vittarkal.
