1 ஆகாப் மரணமடைந்தபின், மோவாபியர் இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கலகம்பண்ணிப் பிரிந்து போனார்கள். Then Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab.

2 அகசியா சமாரியாவிலிருக்கிற தன் மேல்வீட்டிலிருந்து கிராதியின் வழியாய் விழுந்து, வியாதிப்பட்டு: இந்த வியாதி நீங்கிப் பிழைப்பேனா என்று எக்ரோனின் தேவனாகிய பாகால்சேபூபிடத்தில் போய் விசாரியுங்கள் என்று ஆட்களை அனுப்பினான். And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said unto them, Go, enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease.

3 கர்த்தருடைய தூதன் திஸ்பியனாகிய எலியாவை நோக்கி: நீ எழுந்து, சமாரியாவுடைய ராஜாவின் ஆட்களுக்கு எதிர்ப்படப்போய்: இஸ்ரவேலிலே தேவன் இல்லையென்றா நீங்கள் எக்ரோனின் தேவனாகிய பாகால்சேபூபிடத்தில் விசாரிக்கப்போகிறீர்கள்? But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron?

4 இதினிமித்தம் நீ ஏறின கட்டிலிலிருந்து இறங்காமல், சாகவே சாவாய் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்பதை அவர்களோடே சொல் என்றான்; அப்படியே எலியா போய்ச் சொன்னான். Now therefore thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Elijah departed.

5 அந்த ஆட்கள் அவனிடத்திற்குத் திரும்பிவந்தபோது: நீங்கள் திரும்பி வந்தது என்ன என்று அவன் அவர்களிடத்தில் கேட்டான். And when the messengers turned back unto him, he said unto them, Why are ye now turned back?

6 அதற்கு அவர்கள்: ஒரு மனுஷன் எங்களுக்கு எதிர்ப்பட்டுவந்து: நீங்கள் உங்களை அனுப்பின ராஜாவினிடத்தில் திரும்பிப்போய், இஸ்ரவேலிலே தேவன் இல்லையென்றா நீ எக்ரோனின் தேவனாகிய பாகால்சேபூபிடத்தில் விசாரிக்கப்போகிறாய்; இதினிமித்தம் நீ ஏறின கட்டிலிலிருந்து இறங்காமல் சாகவே சாவாய் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்பதை அவனோடே சொல்லுங்கள் என்றான் என்று சொன்னார்கள். And they said unto him, There came a man up to meet us, and said unto us, Go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.

7 அப்பொழுது அவன் அவர்களை நோக்கி: உங்களுக்கு எதிர்ப்பட்டு வந்து, இந்த வார்த்தைகளை உங்களிடத்தில் சொன்ன மனுஷன் எப்படிப் பட்டவன் என்று கேட்டான். And he said unto them, What manner of man was he which came up to meet you, and told you these words?

8 அதற்கு அவர்கள்: அவன் மயிர் உடையைத் தரித்து, வார்க்கச்சையைத் தன் அரையிலே கட்டிக்கொண்டிருந்தான் என்றார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அவன்: திஸ்பியனாகிய எலியாதான் என்று சொல்லி; And they answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.

9 அவனிடத்திற்கு ஒரு தலைவனையும், அவனுடைய ஐம்பது சேவகரையும் அனுப்பினான்; மலையின் உச்சியில் உட்கார்ந்திருக்கிற அவனிடத்தில் இவன் ஏறிப்போய்: தேவனுடைய மனுஷனே, ராஜா உன்னை வரச்சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான். Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him: and, behold, he sat on the top of an hill. And he spake unto him, Thou man of God, the king hath said, Come down.

10 அப்பொழுது எலியா, அந்த ஐம்பதுபேரின் தலைவனுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நான் தேவனுடைய மனுஷனானால், அக்கினி வானத்திலிருந்து இறங்கி, உன்னையும் உன் ஐம்பதுபேரையும் பட்சிக்கக்கடவது என்றான்; உடனே அக்கினி வானத்திலிருந்து இறங்கி, அவனையும் அவன் ஐம்பது பேரையும் பட்சித்தது. And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.

11 மறுபடியும் அவனிடத்திற்கு வேறொரு தலைவனையும், அவனுடைய ஐம்பது சேவகரையும் அனுப்பினான். இவன் அவனை நோக்கி: தேவனுடைய மனுஷனே, ராஜா உன்னைச் சீக்கிரமாய் வரச்சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான். Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly.

12 எலியா அவர்களுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நான் தேவனுடைய மனுஷனானால், அக்கினி வானத்திலிருந்து இறங்கி, உன்னையும் உன் ஐம்பதுபேரையும் பட்சிக்கக்கடவது என்றான்; உடனே தேவனுடைய அக்கினி வானத்திலிருந்து இறங்கி, அவனையும் அவன் ஐம்பதுபேரையும் பட்சித்தது. And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.

13 திரும்பவும் மூன்றாந்தரம் ஒரு தலைவனையும், அவனுடைய ஐம்பது சேவகரையும் அனுப்பினான்; இந்த மூன்றாந்தலைவன் ஏறிவந்தபோது, எலியாவுக்கு முன்பாக முழங்காற்படியிட்டு, அவனை வேண்டிக்கொண்டு: தேவனுடைய மனுஷனே, என்னுடைய பிராணனும், உமது அடியாராகிய இந்த ஐம்பதுபேரின் பிராணனும் உமது பார்வைக்கு அருமையாயிருப்பதாக. And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and said unto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight.

14 இதோ, அக்கினி வானத்திலிருந்து இறங்கி, முந்தின இரண்டு தலைவரையும், அவரவருடைய ஐம்பது சேவகரையும் பட்சித்தது; இப்போதும் என்னுடைய பிராணன் உமது பார்வைக்கு அருமையாயிருப்பதாக என்றான். Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and burnt up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties: therefore let my life now be precious in thy sight.

15 அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய தூதன் எலியாவை நோக்கி: அவனோடேகூட இறங்கிப்போ, அவனுக்குப் பயப்படாதே என்றான்; அப்படியே அவன் எழுந்து அவனோடேகூட ராஜாவினிடத்திற்கு இறங்கிப் போய், And the angel of the LORD said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king.

16 அவனைப் பார்த்து: இஸ்ரவேலிலே தேவன் இல்லையென்றா நீ எக்ரோனின் தேவனாகிய பாகால்சேபூபிடத்தில் விசாரிக்க ஆட்களைஅனுப்பினாய்; ஆதலால் நீ ஏறின கட்டிலிலிருந்து இறங்காமல் சாகவே சாவாய் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான். And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.

17 எலியா சொன்ன கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையின்படியே அவன் இறந்து போனான்; அவனுக்குக் குமாரன் இல்லாதபடியினால், அவன் ஸ்தானத்திலே யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோசபாத்துடைய குமாரனான யோராமின் இரண்டாம் வருஷத்தில் யோராம் அவன் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவானான். So he died according to the word of the LORD which Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram reigned in his stead in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; because he had no son.

18 அகசியாவின் மற்ற வர்த்தமானங்கள் இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் நாளாகமப் புஸ்தகத்தில் அல்லவோ எழுதியிருக்கிறது. Now the rest of the acts of Ahaziah which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

3 Karththarutaiya thoothan thispiyanaakiya eliyaavai Nnokki: nee elunthu, samaariyaavutaiya raajaavin aatkalukku ethirppadappoy: isravaelilae Dhevan illaiyenta neengal ekronin thaevanaakiya paakaalsepoopidaththil visaarikkappokireerkal? But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron?

4 Ithinimiththam nee aerina kattililirunthu irangaamal, saakavae saavaay entu Karththar sollukiraar enpathai avarkalotae sol entan; appatiyae eliyaa poych sonnaan. Now therefore thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Elijah departed.

5 Antha aatkal avanidaththirkuth thirumpivanthapothu: neengal thirumpi vanthathu enna entu avan avarkalidaththil kaettan. And when the messengers turned back unto him, he said unto them, Why are ye now turned back?

6 Atharku avarkal: oru manushan engalukku ethirppattuvanthu: neengal ungalai anuppina raajaavinidaththil thirumpippoy, isravaelilae Dhevan illaiyenta nee ekronin thaevanaakiya paakaalsepoopidaththil visaarikkappokiraay; ithinimiththam nee aerina kattililirunthu irangaamal saakavae saavaay entu Karththar sollukiraar enpathai avanotae sollungal entan entu sonnaarkal. And they said unto him, There came a man up to meet us, and said unto us, Go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.

7 Appoluthu avan avarkalai Nnokki: ungalukku ethirppattu vanthu, intha vaarththaikalai ungalidaththil sonna manushan eppatip pattavan entu kaettan. And he said unto them, What manner of man was he which came up to meet you, and told you these words?

8 Atharku avarkal: avan mayir utaiyaith thariththu, vaarkkachchaைyaith than araiyilae kattikkonntirunthaan entarkal; appoluthu avan: thispiyanaakiya eliyaathaan entu solli; And they answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.

9 Avanidaththirku oru thalaivanaiyum, avanutaiya aimpathu sevakaraiyum anuppinaan; malaiyin uchchiyil utkaarnthirukkira avanidaththil ivan aerippoy: thaevanutaiya manushanae, raajaa unnai varachchaொllukiraar entan. Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him: and, behold, he sat on the top of an hill. And he spake unto him, Thou man of God, the king hath said, Come down.

10 Appoluthu eliyaa, antha aimpathupaerin thalaivanukkup pirathiyuththaramaaka: naan thaevanutaiya manushanaanaal, akkini vaanaththilirunthu irangi, unnaiyum un aimpathupaeraiyum patchikkakkadavathu entan; udanae akkini vaanaththilirunthu irangi, avanaiyum avan aimpathu paeraiyum patchiththathu. And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.

11 Maraுpatiyum avanidaththirku vaeroru thalaivanaiyum, avanutaiya aimpathu sevakaraiyum anuppinaan. Ivan avanai Nnokki: thaevanutaiya manushanae, raajaa unnaich seekkiramaay varachchaொllukiraar entan. Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly.

12 Eliyaa avarkalukkup pirathiyuththaramaaka: naan thaevanutaiya manushanaanaal, akkini vaanaththilirunthu irangi, unnaiyum un aimpathupaeraiyum patchikkakkadavathu entan; udanae thaevanutaiya akkini vaanaththilirunthu irangi, avanaiyum avan aimpathupaeraiyum patchiththathu. And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.

13 Thirumpavum moontantharam oru thalaivanaiyum, avanutaiya aimpathu sevakaraiyum anuppinaan; intha moontanthalaivan aerivanthapothu, eliyaavukku munpaaka mulangaarpatiyittu, avanai vaenntikkonndu: thaevanutaiya manushanae, ennutaiya piraananum, umathu atiyaaraakiya intha aimpathupaerin piraananum umathu paarvaikku arumaiyaayiruppathaaka. And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and said unto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight.

14 Itho, akkini vaanaththilirunthu irangi, munthina iranndu thalaivaraiyum, avaravarutaiya aimpathu sevakaraiyum patchiththathu; ippothum ennutaiya piraanan umathu paarvaikku arumaiyaayiruppathaaka entan. Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and burnt up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties: therefore let my life now be precious in thy sight.

15 Appoluthu karththarutaiya thoothan eliyaavai Nnokki: avanotaekooda irangippo, avanukkup payappadaathae entan; appatiyae avan elunthu avanotaekooda raajaavinidaththirku irangip poy, And the angel of the LORD said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king.

16 Avanaip paarththu: isravaelilae Dhevan illaiyenta nee ekronin thaevanaakiya paakaalsepoopidaththil visaarikka aatkalaianuppinaay; aathalaal nee aerina kattililirunthu irangaamal saakavae saavaay entu Karththar sollukiraar entan. And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.

17 Eliyaa sonna karththarutaiya vaarththaiyinpatiyae avan iranthu ponaan; avanukkuk kumaaran illaathapatiyinaal, avan sthaanaththilae yoothaavin raajaavaakiya yosapaaththutaiya kumaaranaana yoraamin iranndaam varushaththil yoraam avan sthaanaththil raajaavaanaan. So he died according to the word of the LORD which Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram reigned in his stead in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; because he had no son.
