Ecclesiastes 9
1 ഇതൊക്കെയും, നീതിമാന്മാരും ജ്ഞാനികളും അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികളും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നുള്ളതൊക്കെയും തന്നേ, ശോധനചെയ്വാൻ ഞാൻ മനസ്സുവെച്ചു; സ്നേഹമാകട്ടെ ദ്വേഷമാകട്ടെ ഒന്നും മനുഷ്യൻ അറിയുന്നില്ല; സർവ്വവും അവരുടെ മുമ്പിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു താനും.
2 എല്ലാവർക്കും എല്ലാം ഒരുപോലെ സംഭവിക്കുന്നു; നീതിമാന്നും ദുഷ്ടന്നും നല്ലവന്നും നിർമ്മലന്നും മലിനന്നും യാഗം കഴിക്കുന്നവനും യാഗം കഴിക്കാത്തവന്നും ഒരേ ഗതി വരുന്നു; പാപിയും നല്ലവനും ആണ പേടിക്കുന്നവനും ആണയിടുന്നവനും ഒരുപോലെ ആകുന്നു.
3 എല്ലാവർക്കും ഒരേഗതി വരുന്നു എന്നുള്ളതു സൂര്യന്റെ കീഴിൽ നടക്കുന്ന എല്ലാറ്റിലും ഒരു തിന്മയത്രേ; മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിലും ദോഷം നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ജീവപര്യന്തം അവരുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ഭ്രാന്തു ഉണ്ടു; അതിന്റെ ശേഷമോ അവർ മരിച്ചവരുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കു പോകുന്നു.
4 ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ ഉള്ളവന്നൊക്കെയും പ്രത്യാശയുണ്ടു; ചത്ത സിംഹത്തെക്കാൾ ജീവനുള്ള നായ് നല്ലതല്ലോ.
5 ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവർ തങ്ങൾ മരിക്കും എന്നറിയുന്നു; മരിച്ചവരോ ഒന്നും അറിയുന്നില്ല; മേലാൽ അവർക്കു ഒരു പ്രതിഫലവും ഇല്ല; അവരെ ഓർമ്മ വിട്ടുപോകുന്നുവല്ലോ.
6 അവരുടെ സ്നേഹവും ദ്വേഷവും അസൂയയും നശിച്ചുപോയി; സൂര്യന്നു കീഴെ നടക്കുന്ന യാതൊന്നിലും അവർക്കു ഇനി ഒരിക്കലും ഓഹരിയില്ല.
1 For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is before them.
2 All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.
3 This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.
4 For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.
5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.

1 ഇതൊക്കെയും, നീതിമാന്മാരും ജ്ഞാനികളും അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികളും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നുള്ളതൊക്കെയും തന്നേ, ശോധനചെയ്വാൻ ഞാൻ മനസ്സുവെച്ചു; സ്നേഹമാകട്ടെ ദ്വേഷമാകട്ടെ ഒന്നും മനുഷ്യൻ അറിയുന്നില്ല; സർവ്വവും അവരുടെ മുമ്പിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു താനും.

3 എല്ലാവർക്കും ഒരേഗതി വരുന്നു എന്നുള്ളതു സൂര്യന്റെ കീഴിൽ നടക്കുന്ന എല്ലാറ്റിലും ഒരു തിന്മയത്രേ; മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിലും ദോഷം നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ജീവപര്യന്തം അവരുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ഭ്രാന്തു ഉണ്ടു; അതിന്റെ ശേഷമോ അവർ മരിച്ചവരുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കു പോകുന്നു.
This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.
4 ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ ഉള്ളവന്നൊക്കെയും പ്രത്യാശയുണ്ടു; ചത്ത സിംഹത്തെക്കാൾ ജീവനുള്ള നായ് നല്ലതല്ലോ.
For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.
5 ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവർ തങ്ങൾ മരിക്കും എന്നറിയുന്നു; മരിച്ചവരോ ഒന്നും അറിയുന്നില്ല; മേലാൽ അവർക്കു ഒരു പ്രതിഫലവും ഇല്ല; അവരെ ഓർമ്മ വിട്ടുപോകുന്നുവല്ലോ.
For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
