ശമൂവേൽ-1 4:17
അതിന്നു ആ ദൂതൻ: യിസ്രായേൽ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ മുമ്പിൽ തോറ്റോടി; ജനത്തിൽ ഒരു മഹാസംഹാരം ഉണ്ടായി; നിന്റെ രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാരായ ഹൊഫ്നിയും ഫീനെഹാസും പട്ടുപോയി; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പെട്ടകവും പിടിപെട്ടുപോയി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

| Philistines, the | פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים | pĕlištîm | feh-leesh-TEEM |
| and there hath been | וְגַ֛ם | wĕgam | veh-ɡAHM |
| also | מַגֵּפָ֥ה | maggēpâ | ma-ɡay-FA |
| a great | גְדוֹלָ֖ה | gĕdôlâ | ɡeh-doh-LA |
| slaughter | הָֽיְתָ֣ה | hāyĕtâ | ha-yeh-TA |
| people, the among | בָעָ֑ם | bāʿām | va-AM |
| and thy two | וְגַם | wĕgam | veh-ɡAHM |
| sons | שְׁנֵ֨י | šĕnê | sheh-NAY |
| also, | בָנֶ֜יךָ | bānêkā | va-NAY-ha |
| Hophni | מֵ֗תוּ | mētû | MAY-too |
| and Phinehas, | חָפְנִי֙ | ḥopniy | hofe-NEE |
| dead, are | וּפִ֣ינְחָ֔ס | ûpînĕḥās | oo-FEE-neh-HAHS |
| and the ark | וַֽאֲר֥וֹן | waʾărôn | va-uh-RONE |
| of God | הָֽאֱלֹהִ֖ים | hāʾĕlōhîm | ha-ay-loh-HEEM |
| is taken. | נִלְקָֽחָה׃ | nilqāḥâ | neel-KA-ha |
