അപ്പോൾ ശൌലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഒരു ദൂതൻ വന്നു: ക്ഷണം വരേണം; ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ ദേശത്തെ ആക്രമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

| come; and thee, | וְלֵ֔כָה | wĕlēkâ | veh-LAY-ha |
| for | כִּֽי | kî | kee |
| the Philistines | פָשְׁט֥וּ | pošṭû | fohsh-TOO |
| have invaded | פְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים | pĕlištîm | feh-leesh-TEEM |
