അപ്പോൾ ശൌൽ ഏറ്റവും കോപിച്ചു; ഈ വാക്കു അവന്നു അനിഷ്ടമായി: അവർ ദാവീദിന്നു പതിനായിരം കൊടുത്തു എനിക്കു ആയിരം മാത്രമേ തന്നുള്ളു; ഇനി രാജത്വമല്ലാതെ അവന്നു കിട്ടുവാൻ എന്തുള്ളു എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.
