Luke 18
9 തങ്ങൾ നീതിമാന്മാർ എന്നു ഉറെച്ചു മറ്റുള്ളവരെ ധിക്കരിക്കുന്ന ചിലരെക്കുറിച്ചു അവൻ ഒരു ഉപമ പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ:
10 രണ്ടു മനുഷ്യർ പ്രാർത്ഥിപ്പാൻ ദൈവാലയത്തിൽ പോയി; ഒരുത്തൻ പരീശൻ, മറ്റവൻ ചുങ്കക്കാരൻ.
11 പരീശൻ നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു തന്നോടു തന്നെ: ദൈവമേ, പിടിച്ചുപറിക്കാർ, നീതികെട്ടവർ, വ്യഭിചാരികൾ മുതലായ ശേഷം മനുഷ്യരെപ്പോലെയോ ഈ ചുങ്കക്കാരനെപ്പോലെയോ ഞാൻ അല്ലായ്കയാൽ നിന്നെ വാഴ്ത്തുന്നു.
12 ആഴ്ചയിൽ രണ്ടുവട്ടം ഉപവസിക്കുന്നു; നേടുന്നതിൽ ഒക്കെയും പതാരം കൊടുത്തുവരുന്നു; എന്നിങ്ങനെ പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു.
13 ചുങ്കക്കാരനോ ദൂരത്തു നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തേക്കു നോക്കുവാൻപോലും തുനിയാതെ മാറത്തടിച്ചു: ദൈവമേ, പാപിയായ എന്നോടു കരുണയുണ്ടാകേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
14 അവൻ നീതീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടവനായി വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോയി; മറ്റവൻ അങ്ങനെയല്ല. തന്നെത്താൻ ഉയർത്തുന്നവൻ എല്ലാം താഴ്ത്തപ്പെടും; തന്നെത്താൻ താഴ്ത്തുന്നവൻ എല്ലാം ഉയർത്തപ്പെടും” എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.
15 അവൻ തൊടേണ്ടതിന്നു ചിലർ ശിശുക്കളെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അതുകണ്ടു അവരെ ശാസിച്ചു.
16 യേശുവോ അവരെ അരികത്തു വിളിച്ചു: “പൈതങ്ങളെ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുവാൻ വിടുവിൻ; അവരെ തടുക്കരുതു; ദൈവരാജ്യം ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളവരുടേതു ആകുന്നു.
17 ദൈവരാജ്യത്തെ ശിശുഎന്നപോലെ കൈക്കൊള്ളാത്തവൻ ആരും ഒരുനാളും അതിൽ കടക്കയില്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ സത്യമായിട്ടു നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
18 ഒരു പ്രമാണി അവനോടു: നല്ല ഗുരോ, ഞാൻ നിത്യജീവനെ അവകാശമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്തു ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
19 അതിന്നു യേശു: “എന്നെ നല്ലവൻ എന്നു പറയുന്നതു എന്തു? ദൈവം ഒരുവനല്ലാതെ നല്ലവൻ ആരും ഇല്ല. വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യരുതു:
20 കുല ചെയ്യരുതു; മോഷ്ടിക്കരുതു; കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷ്യം പറയരുതു; നിന്റെ അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയെയും ബഹുമാനിക്ക എന്നീ കല്പനകളെ നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
21 ഇവ ഒക്കെയും ഞാൻ ചെറുപ്പംമുതൽ കാത്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതു കേട്ടിട്ടു
22 യേശു: “ഇനി ഒരു കുറവു നിനക്കുണ്ടു; നിനക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും വിറ്റു ദരിദ്രന്മാർക്കു പകുത്തുകൊടുക്ക; എന്നാൽ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ നിനക്കു നിക്ഷേപം ഉണ്ടാകും; പിന്നെ വന്നു എന്നെ അനുഗമിക്ക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
23 അവൻ എത്രയും ധനവാനാകകൊണ്ടു ഇതു കേട്ടിട്ടു അതിദുഃഖതിനായിത്തീർന്നു.
24 യേശു അവനെ കണ്ടിട്ടു: “സമ്പത്തുള്ളവർ ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിൽ കടക്കുന്നതു എത്ര പ്രയാസം!
25 ധനവാൻ ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിൽ കടക്കുന്നതിനെക്കാൾ ഒട്ടകം സൂചിക്കുഴയൂടെ കടക്കുന്നതു എളുപ്പം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
15 And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
17 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12 ആഴ്ചയിൽ രണ്ടുവട്ടം ഉപവസിക്കുന്നു; നേടുന്നതിൽ ഒക്കെയും പതാരം കൊടുത്തുവരുന്നു; എന്നിങ്ങനെ പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു.
I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
13 ചുങ്കക്കാരനോ ദൂരത്തു നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തേക്കു നോക്കുവാൻപോലും തുനിയാതെ മാറത്തടിച്ചു: ദൈവമേ, പാപിയായ എന്നോടു കരുണയുണ്ടാകേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18 ഒരു പ്രമാണി അവനോടു: നല്ല ഗുരോ, ഞാൻ നിത്യജീവനെ അവകാശമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്തു ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
19 അതിന്നു യേശു: “എന്നെ നല്ലവൻ എന്നു പറയുന്നതു എന്തു? ദൈവം ഒരുവനല്ലാതെ നല്ലവൻ ആരും ഇല്ല. വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യരുതു:
And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
20 കുല ചെയ്യരുതു; മോഷ്ടിക്കരുതു; കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷ്യം പറയരുതു; നിന്റെ അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയെയും ബഹുമാനിക്ക എന്നീ കല്പനകളെ നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
21 ഇവ ഒക്കെയും ഞാൻ ചെറുപ്പംമുതൽ കാത്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതു കേട്ടിട്ടു
And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
22 യേശു: “ഇനി ഒരു കുറവു നിനക്കുണ്ടു; നിനക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും വിറ്റു ദരിദ്രന്മാർക്കു പകുത്തുകൊടുക്ക; എന്നാൽ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ നിനക്കു നിക്ഷേപം ഉണ്ടാകും; പിന്നെ വന്നു എന്നെ അനുഗമിക്ക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
23 അവൻ എത്രയും ധനവാനാകകൊണ്ടു ഇതു കേട്ടിട്ടു അതിദുഃഖതിനായിത്തീർന്നു.
And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
24 യേശു അവനെ കണ്ടിട്ടു: “സമ്പത്തുള്ളവർ ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിൽ കടക്കുന്നതു എത്ര പ്രയാസം!
And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
25 ധനവാൻ ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിൽ കടക്കുന്നതിനെക്കാൾ ഒട്ടകം സൂചിക്കുഴയൂടെ കടക്കുന്നതു എളുപ്പം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
